Another Few Days of Stitching Fun

I have been too busy since last week to actually sit down and write a post!

Last week saw us in two different cities seeing different doctors on different days. DH is doing good and I get to try 8 weeks of physio before the surgeon will do the surgery on my shoulder. Works out well so I can get my muscles working as best as possible before surgery since I will be in a sling with my shoulder immobilized for 8 – 10 weeks. What ever will I be able to do one handed do I don’t lose my mind?

Saturday was a teaching day for me at the Guild. Looks like summer has begun so I’m not sure how many of my students will be attending for the next couple of months.

The good new is: I was playing with scraps and having too much fun. Just look at all these string blocks I have on the go:

93 done so far!

I was moving things in the storage room to get out my serger to finish a top and get 3 or 4 more made for the summer. While I was moving things around I found my bin of Christmas strips and strings. Along came a squirrel. In between making my blocks and finishing quilting and putting the binding on the third fundraiser quilt I made the following panels:

I think it’s a beautiful pile of scrappy, happy goodness! Can’t you just visualize a sweet Christmas Quilt from all these bits?

So this evening I will be pressing and slicing block sections and hand sewing bindings.

I can’t think of a better way to spend an evening with DH doing his normal surfing job with the remote! I do hope you had some fun today with the things that bring you joy! Thanks for stopping in to read my blog.

Cheers 😉 Carol

I have been fondling fabric and creating things with fabric and fiber for as long as I can remember. My children had homemade clothes, blankets, canning and quilts most of their lives. Now I create goodies to share! Hope you enjoy viewing them as much as I enjoy making them! When I am not creating with fiber or fabric I keep busy with Dear Heart, kids, grandkids, great grandkids.

  1. Beautiful strippy blocks! Represents so much fun. Should surgery is no fun. My husband underwent shoulder surgery and, while watching him recover, I knew I never wanted to go through it myself. I’ll be thinking of you and hoping for a quick recovery!

    1. Well thank you Susie. I am having fun with these blocks. I’m not looking forward to the surgery but having the pain gone will be good. Doing nothing will make me crazy though!

  2. Love the scrappy strings. Look forward to seeing how you use them. Can’t imagine being in a sling for 8 or more weeks. Take care.
