Funny how things change!

Yesterday was DH’s regular weekly doctor’s appointment in Nelson, BC.  Stopped to get the groceries on my list and new SIM cards for our phones.  Then I had to haul butt to the Golf course.  We met Pat and signed a rental agreement.  So it is now decided.  After living in a 3700 square foot house we are downsizing to a 600 square foot 1 bedroom apartment for 5 months.  Obviously the quilt frame won’t fit unless I downsize the livingroom furniture to 2 chairs.  I can use the dining table for my Janome  and cutting table (as long as I put it away).  I have room for my antique desk and can put the Pfaff on it.  There is space for one small shelf for supplies.

Im thinking I have to unpack my stash to pull what I need for the next planned projects.  Then if I manage to go through that I will just have to purchase more.  Trying to sort through boxes and bins at a storage unit, is not going to happen.  I admit it.

DH has decided we are taking a vacation once I finish the move, filling the storage unit and purging the shop.  We did decide that having a garage sale is just beyond what I can do right now.  There just isn’t enough time.  We move Oct. 15 (Happy Birthday to me) and then I will finish filling the storage unit.  Once it is full, we will find new homes for the rest of the furniture.  Shawn is coming to help me with the shop.  He will take all of the tools since he is now starting new building projects at the farm.  They are building the barn for the horses, refinishing Grandma’s cabin for guests, and then starting on the new house.  They have sorted out the house plans and know what they need.  I think Tish’s studio should come first, but they can always convert the house they are living in!

So the next note will be my injury list;

– my knee is recovering ( it would probably do better if I hadn’t packed my brace somewhere).

– when taking a quilt frame apart, be careful.  Things can bounce back and leave you looking as if DH has been punching you in the face!

– the color variation of healing bruises is very inspiring!

On a completely seperate note, some quilting happened.  The Lonestar Quilt is almost done, with only the last 2 feet of quilting to be done on one side.  With taking time between sorting and packing, sleeping and eating, doctor’s appointments and tests, lawyers meetings and meeting with new owners, I have managed to finally get the fm quilting done.  If DH keeps out of my way (I start me day with to do lists) and I can finish today’s chores, then I will finish that last bit, piece my binding (it’s cut) and then sew it on.   What a perfect excuse to sit for a few hours………hand sewing the binding!  Judy will be happy to have her quilt before the snow flies!

Enjoy your day, do something creative, and take the time to find something to smile and laugh about! 😉

I have been fondling fabric and creating things with fabric and fiber for as long as I can remember. My children had homemade clothes, blankets, canning and quilts most of their lives. Now I create goodies to share! Hope you enjoy viewing them as much as I enjoy making them! When I am not creating with fiber or fabric I keep busy with Dear Heart, kids, grandkids, great grandkids.

  1. Phew! Your post is a whirlwind. I can only imagine that list each morning. At least you have a place to land for a bit and a plan in place. I wish you all the best with this whole move. It will be all behind you in no time! ~smile~ Roseanne

  2. Having done two house moves within basically one year, and the first was complicated because we didn’t have a home to move into, so hello Storage Box (and a storage unit for garage/outside stuff), I can feel your pain, mental as in stress and physical, ouch. Making lists is something I always do too! Love checking things off! Now I’m off to read the move is on post to figure out where you are going… Here from mmm! quilts because you are a no-reply (WordPress and blogger don’t speak to each other…)

    1. Hi Sandra. At the moment we live near Passmore BC on an acreage on top of a mountain. We are moving to the Slocan Valley Golf Course for 5 months. They have a 1 bedroom suite they rent in the summer on BnB. My DH built the clubhouse years ago and he still manages to play golf so it will be good for him and a breathing space for me! The next move will likely be to Nelson or Castlegar to be closer to his doctors and the hospital. I’m hoping we find something large enough to let me have my studio again. I find I need the solace of fabric fondling to keep me centered. The good news is I might get to sneak a trip in to see kids, grandkids and great grandkids before winter sets in in Alberta! Then we will head down to America to drive the Pacific Coast Highway. It’s beautiful in the fall. Thank you for your comment and for taking the time to read my post! Have a wonderful day!
