Friday Fabric Fun

Today I was organizing things to get read6 to go to the studio to play with my longarm. Looks like I’ll be on the road on Monday unless something unexpected comes up.

The plan is to spend 3 or 4 days there to get some of the quilts finished to go to the distributor for the Quilts for Lytton Drive. I’ve got 4 quilt tops ready to go and the fifth is under my needle.

It’s been another fun design which was inspired by Becky Tillman Petersen’s pattern Flat Top Scrappy Pyramids. I’m using 2 1/2” and 2” squares for my blocks so I had to dig out my math skills for a workout.

Here’s where I’m at as of dinner time today:

My plan is to have it finished by tomorrow evening.

Then Sunday I’ll pack up the car and head out Monday morning to see how many quilts I can finish while I’m there.

My friend has her binding fingers ready to go she says. The plan is to play on the longarm from 6:30 am until dinner time. Then the evening will be spent on binding or re-loading the longarm.

Then I can get the finished quilts delivered before I return home.

I hope you are having fun this weekend and staying in, out of the heat and smoke. Our wildfire is being held to just under 6000 hectares, but the hot weather and heavy smoke is hard to bear this week. It’s kept me indoors working on projects and yes, even doing housework and Guild paperwork.

One of our Board Members had a member of their household being tested for Covid so our Board Meeting was moved to Zoom instead of being our first in person meeting in months. We all breathed a sigh of relief today to hear the test was negative. It’s getting more concerning since those numbers are going up, my Province has the second highest provincial rates of new infections, but we also have an 81% vaccinated rate. I’m suspecting that tougher mandates will be forthcoming again.

Thanks for reading my post today. Hope you have some great plans for the weekend. 😉 Carol

I have been fondling fabric and creating things with fabric and fiber for as long as I can remember. My children had homemade clothes, blankets, canning and quilts most of their lives. Now I create goodies to share! Hope you enjoy viewing them as much as I enjoy making them! When I am not creating with fiber or fabric I keep busy with Dear Heart, kids, grandkids, great grandkids.

    1. Hi Kathleen. Doing the binding is my favourite part of the quilting and it does go faster when friends are sitting, chatting or watching a movie. It makes it even more special. 😁
