Sunday Sewing

I had some fun today making some blocks for a quilt to send to the Lytton Fire Drive.

This is completely from my scrap bins. I just love the warmth of these brown, rust and tan scraps with the bits of red, blue, orange, yellow and green in the patterns. To me this quilt will ha e the comfort and warmth of a log cabin. I’m doing a wonky log cabin this time. I seem to be on a log cabin kick this year.

I have enough ready to make a quilt top and should get it assembled tomorrow.

Looks like I need to plan another trip to play on my longarm at the studio as soon as the wildfire here is contained.

I have been fondling fabric and creating things with fabric and fiber for as long as I can remember. My children had homemade clothes, blankets, canning and quilts most of their lives. Now I create goodies to share! Hope you enjoy viewing them as much as I enjoy making them! When I am not creating with fiber or fabric I keep busy with Dear Heart, kids, grandkids, great grandkids.

  1. Oh, those are lovely blocks! Are you looking for particular sizes of quilts for the drive, and do you have a deadline? I don’t know what mailing costs are from US to Canada, but I’d like more info anyway.

    1. Hi Wendy. I’m trying to contact the quilt shop that is distributing the quilts to get some information as to what sizes they are looking for. As soon as I have the info I’ll post it on my blog. The shop is in Kamloops which is the epicentre of some major fires so I’m thinking they will be collecting and distributing the quilts for several months.
