I’ve had so much fun sewing along with the fun prompts for the SAHRR.
This was the QAL schedule and our fabulous hosts for the weekly prompts:
- January 23: 1st Round: Roseanne & Sue @ Home Sewn by Us – Spools
- January 30 : 2nd Round: Wendy @ Pieceful Thoughts of My Quilting Life – Stars
- February 6: 3rd Round: Chris @ Chrisknitssews – Hourglass Block
- February 13: 4th Round: Anja @ Anja Quilts – Flying Geese
- February 20: 5th Round: Emily @ The Darling Dogwood – Square in a Square or Economy Block
- February 27: 6th Round: Gail @ Quilting Gail – Pinwheels
- March 13: Parade – showing all of your finished SAHRRs!
I have to say a huge thank you to Gail and the rest of the quilty crew that has kept me motivated to sew with my favourite QAL to start my year.

I challenged myself to use leftovers and scraps for this quilt and was playing with an idea of mixing cream and white backgrounds to see if it would make the quilt look as if light was shining on it. I did get it sandwiched and did some ditch quilting and some straight line quilting. Then it didn’t take long to get it squared up and binding attached by machine. I spent an evening last night hand stitching the binding while DH had the tv on. 😉

Here it is completely finished and sitting on my desk. I had decided when I started the SAHRR that I wanted to make a cover for my Mac, printer and keyboard since our home gets really dusty in the summer, and if I’m honest to hide my pile of papers which need to be filed 😉.

I’m sad this fun challenge QAL has ended but satisfied to have another project I needed to do off my list of ToDo’s. 😉
Thank you for stopping by. I do enjoy our visits and love getting to respond to your comments. 😃 Carol

I also like your finished SAHRR, and I totally relate to using quilts to cover unsightly areas!

A beautiful finish! I like the echo quilting around the spool–really makes it “jump off the page”. I never thought of using a quilt as a cover-up and to hide things. This opens a whole new realm of possibilities!! LOL

What a lovely cover that made Carol! I like your start-to-finish photos, nice progression. Very inspiring – maybe I’ll finish mine before the parade is over. 😀

This is so pretty Carol. I like the colors quite a lot. This is much prettier than the old pillowcase I toss on top of our printer to keep the dust out. 🙂

Your SAHRR is perfect! Love it on its new home and yes, you can decide to do more quilting after it is washed. I really love your center block and the way you did your rounds. Hooray for a fabulous finish!
