UFO Blog Hop My Day

Yes, it’s all about UFO’s. Are we talking Unfinished objects? Are we talking Aliens?

Have you had a chance to check out all of the bloggers participating in the hop?

I’d like to thank Joan from MooseStash Quilting for devising the perfect theme for this month’s hop.

For anybody who doesn’t know me, I am on a mission to work on getting the contents of my UFO bins emptied and finished so the theme for this hop is perfect.

This is the To Be Quilted pile, with each flimsy stored with backing and binding! 😉

My hold up with finishing my quilts is the fact that my longarm is at my best friend’s house/studio which is 5 hours drive each way from my home. Time away at the studio isn’t always easy to schedule, but I get there as often as I can. These days my time here is spent helping my best friends with meal prep, chores and housework more than longarming, but I am managing to get some things finished! 😄

One project I managed to finish is technically not a UFO since it is actually a commission, but it was started in April! I just had to share it because I love the cute fabrics! 😉

For this hop I had planned on finishing another quilt; A Roll of the Dice by Sandra Walker of MMM Quilts.

My inner squirrel, Samantha, completely side-tracked my with another flimsy which I was able to finish quilting and binding (a real UFO from my TBQ bins) from a pattern by one of my favourite designers, Sandra Walker from MMM Quilts. The pattern is Pop Star and was a QAL that Sandra hosted from April – June.

These two completed projects were the results of my fun, in spite of of my last two weeks almost non stop travelling back and forth from home to the studio.

Then as a result of Samantha’s constant chatter I pulled another UFO from the bins and started working on it. This one is a fun panel quilt that was gifted to me by Denise S. I really feel the need to be surrounded some bright, happy colours these days and this seemed to fit the bill! There is also the bonus of it being small enough, it can travel back and forth with me as I go since I can always finish it on my dsm.🤔

I have finished stitching in the ditch to stabilize everything but that’s as far as I’ve managed to get on this project!

Here is the list for today’s participants, Thursday July 28;

I have been fondling fabric and creating things with fabric and fiber for as long as I can remember. My children had homemade clothes, blankets, canning and quilts most of their lives. Now I create goodies to share! Hope you enjoy viewing them as much as I enjoy making them! When I am not creating with fiber or fabric I keep busy with Dear Heart, kids, grandkids, great grandkids.

  2. Carol it’s finally your day – yay! You somehow managed to finish some of your aliens in spite of squirrel-shenanigans and travelling. (Can you hear my applause?) The commission quilt looks beautiful, and the quilting on Pop Star is beautiful. Loving that panel quilt, and bonus to be able to do some quilting on your Janome – yay!

  4. Oh, you did great on your UFOs. Love the commissioned quilt that you finished. I also love the quilting you did on Pop Star. And that panel quilt looks like super fun….and a good plan as it can be quilted in either place. Great job all around.

  5. I definitely have an inner squirrel, maybe two or three, because there’s always something fabric related to distract me. I love your finishes…way to go! Traveling as much as you do, it’s a amazing that you got anything done.

  6. I can’t sign into whatever to post a comment on your post – it pops on my screen and immediately disappears!  So I decided to send my comment to you this way. Look at you, enduring a 5 hour drive to get into the studio!!  That’s dedication!!  Love the work you are doing and we all need some cheerful color in our lives! Susan

    1. Thank you Carol. It’s actually for a baby that’s due in September. It’ll be a floor quilt and then go on the real bed when the little tyke is older. I using the bits of scraps to make a car seat quilt. Maybe next week? 😉
