I Love Thursday

I’m going to be linking up with a fun group of bloggers over at LeeAnna’s blog, Not Afraid of Color. Everyone tries to share things that make them happy or they are grateful for.

I always am one to admit that I am so grateful and proud of my kids, their spouses and kids, and my very special great grandchildren. it’s always fun to see what adventures everyone is up to in their busy lives. They are so varied; my daughter is retired after being in an industrial accident, my older son farms with his wife and 2 daughters and is a Superintendent on pipeline projects, and my younger son works in Saudi Arabia but lives in Mexico with his wife and kids.

Grace, my great granddaughter was visiting her Nanny recently and I was able to video chat with my daughter and our little 🥰

I am beyond happy that I’m in good health and able to split my time between home and the studio where my friends are needing some extra help. I’ve managed to finish cleaning and moving furniture for the arrival of the adjustable bed that should help K get some sleep at night. On Friday the installers will bring the bed and double check all the measurements to install the chairlift. It’s K’s birthday on Friday so I’m hoping his gift will be coming home from the hospital. 🤞🏻

Like so many parts of the world, we have been experiencing a heat wave, but at least it’s not as bad as the heat dome we had last summer after our Wildfire Evacuation Alert.

It’s been so warm here I had to break down and go shopping for something cooler to wear. My normal summer wardrobe consists of shorts, capris (both cotton and leggings styles) with long tshirts or a cotton sleeveless blouse.

I’ve now found a new favourite hot weather outfit. I had had to go to Walmart to pick up an electric razor for K and just happened to walk by this dress. It had to come home with me. I’d rather have had a different colour but it was the only one in my size. It’s so comfy and loose that I can actually go outside now!

I can’t believe I’m wearing a dress. 😉

What is your summer “uniform”?? What do you usually put on? Are you about shorts? what kind/color/brand?

I’m so happy K and D are such good consumers! I just finished placing 6 fans in strategic locations to try to get the air moving and cooled down.

My favourite pastime is quilting of course. Today I was able to share 2 finishes on my blog. You can read about them here.

I’ve been listening to a lot of audiobooks as I work or sew. My library has an amazing selection of audiobooks and I’ve found a new favourite author.

David Baldacci writes great detective stories, but he also has several books that do not fit in that genre.
This was an interesting Feel Good story with some poignant twists.
The Christmas Train was actually made in to a Christmas Movie by Hallmark.

I do enjoy watching the Hallmark movies for the predictable endings, but also because K’s granddaughter is in several of the movies. It’s always fun to watch and see if we can pick out the little redhead as the story unfolds. She has her first speaking part in one of the movies. She also appears in Riverdale and a couple of other productions that are filmed in Vancouver.

Thank you for reading my post. I hope you are able to find some comfort if you are experiencing this crazy hot weather. 😉 Carol

I have been fondling fabric and creating things with fabric and fiber for as long as I can remember. My children had homemade clothes, blankets, canning and quilts most of their lives. Now I create goodies to share! Hope you enjoy viewing them as much as I enjoy making them! When I am not creating with fiber or fabric I keep busy with Dear Heart, kids, grandkids, great grandkids.

  1. What a nice BD gift for K – I hope it helps make things a bit easier. I love reading about your family – you’re right, those are really varied lives! Love the purple top and the dress, my kind of outfits. Most of my wardrobe comes from Wally – lol! Yoga pants, tees, and sandals are my wardrobe. I was eyeing my boots in my closet yesterday wondering if it will ever be cool enough to wear them again!

    1. Hi Linda. Isn’t it great that K is home again? We didn’t think it was going to happen. I really do love those two additions to my wardrobe. Over the last two years I admit to becoming a legging (both long and capri) addict. Isn’t it interesting how varied lives they live and just wait till I add in the oldest grandkids lives 😉

  2. Your kids have such interesting lives! How wonderful K was released….home is a much better place to be. Love your new outfits…mine are similar to yours – capris and a T – although I have been thinking of dresses lately but want to try some on….may get to a store in the next week or two!

  3. Hi Carol! Happy happy birthday to K today. I hope his best gift is coming home from the hospital to his new bed and chairlift. I enjoy David Baldacci books, too. Your finishes look great – I have to try the flanged binding sometime soon. It sure looks nice. {{Hugs}} ~smile~ Roseanne

  4. Great family news and a birthday celebration! I absolutely love the two quilts – colors and design.
It’s been in the low nineties here. My studio is in our finished basement and maintains a comfortable temperature with no need for air conditioning. We do have central in the main part of the house.
Love the dress – such a good idea!

    1. Thank you. My dress is definitely a favourite now that our wildfire season has begun with heat and lightning strikes. Good to hear you studio is in the basement. At the studio where my longarm is it’s in the basement, too! It was good to have him home before I had to leave the studio to come home. 😉
