I Love Thursday #57

I’m joining a group of friends who get together via a linky party on LeeAnna’s blog Not Afraid of Color some weeks to share list of things that bring them joy, inspire them or make them laugh.

Another busy week to share. I’ve been at my Guild every day this week working on sorting donations for the Guild’s annual spring fundraiser, having a sewing day with some beginner sewers learning to sew clothing and today our quilters are meeting to work on our projects.

My focus is on gifts for the Christmas hampers for the annual meals and gifts for low income families and seniors and getting ready to make quilts for the people in our Province who have lost their homes to the horrific floods and mud slides which are crippling parts of our Province.

So my post is short today as I’m off to the Guild to get ready for my quilting group and meet with the ladies who are going to help me building the shelves for our pretty new shed.

Here’s our Guild, an old one room schoolhouse which we own, showing our new shed;

One of my quilters actually went to school here when it was a functioning schoolhouse! 😉

I have been fondling fabric and creating things with fabric and fiber for as long as I can remember. My children had homemade clothes, blankets, canning and quilts most of their lives. Now I create goodies to share! Hope you enjoy viewing them as much as I enjoy making them! When I am not creating with fiber or fabric I keep busy with Dear Heart, kids, grandkids, great grandkids.

    1. Hi Roseanne. You are so right! Our building was a one room schoolhouse. Over the years I have met 2 teachers who taught here and one of our Guild members went to school here. We have heard many stories of the adventures that took place here. 😉

  1. Oh how neat that you have a building just for your guild! Our group has been trying to figure out where to meet, and it has been very difficult. I hope you enjoy a fun day with your group – and that the shelves go together well!

    1. Hi Wendy. It is nice to always know where we can meet safely (plans are afoot for a safe December meeting with a bonfire and mulled cider). I managed to start/finish a set of placemats today and we did the measuring for out shelves. It was a great day. 😉

    1. Isn’t it a wonderful building, Kathleen to call home? We’ve upgraded windows, insulation, electrical (twice), heat and water systems and installed a wheelchair ramp and a bathroom so far. Then we built the shed and are now finishing it. A true labour of love! 😉
