Here it is; the end of the second quarter Finish Along for 2019!
I had 3 goals for this quarter with the first being make three quilts for the Golf Club Fundraiser. I’m very pleased to say that all three are finished and are already at the Clubhouse with ticket sales humming along. I have photos of the quilts which are all made from fabric from the stash. I used Hobbs 80-20 batting and my favourite Aurifil thread to piece and quilt these beauties.
This queen size quilt was made from a pattern Night Eyes by Teresa of Teresa Down Under fame. (Sewn Up). I enjoyed this quilt which stitched up quickly and the larger blocks allowed me to showcase my golf fabrics.
This was a replica of a quilt I once saw a picture of on line. Unfortunately I do not have the name of the designer or quilt that I saw. It was drafted from my memory after having seen the photo because I only had a small piece if the pink/yellow golf fabric and I did want it to be the focal point of this quilt which finished at 56 x 62. It’s a nice size for a large throw.
My third quilt for the fundraiser was fun to make. I had run out of ideas and didn’t have anything in my patterns that jumped up and said Make Me, so I started playing with scraps. I made a few churn dash blocks but they didn’t make my heart sing (which is unusual for me since it is my favourite block). Then I started fiddling around with scrappy 2 1/2″ squares from my boxes. I wanted blocks that were fun and had some movement but the colours needed to make the blue golf shoe border fabric be more of a focal point. This one finished up as a 50 x 60 throw.
The second item on my List was to make my felted slippers. This didn’t happen since we wound up travelling to doctors appointments a lot this quarter (Vancouver twice, Kelowna 4 times and countless times to Trail and Nelson).
The third item on my list was to make a Kaleidoscope Quilt for our bed. I did manage this finish but can’t show it yet as it is a pattern test for a design which will be published in The Quilt Pattern Magazine on line in October. All I can say is that I am in love with this pattern and will be making it again!
All in all I am pleased with this quarters list and finishes even if I didn’t get them all done!
