SAHRR 2026 – The 2nd Round!

It’s my favourite way to start a new year; doing the SAHRR which is the brainchild of Quilting Gail.

For my center I could not make up my mind which block to use of these 3:

Our lovely friend Brenda from Songbird Designs gave us our first prompt; the Hourglass Block.

Fabrics I had on hand (and comments 🤭) made the decision for me!

Then the second prompt came from another favourite designer/quilter, Kathleen from Kathleen McMusing. Her prompt was Make it a Double and she gave us some wonderful suggestions and links for blocks.

I added a green and cream border around the first border and then got creative using a modified Double Monkey Wrench variation since I am using a panel so I did double the borders! 🤭I’m not really happy with the fabrics in the corner hst’s so I might get Jack out and replace them.

The colours aren’t true in the photo, but I’m liking the almost stepping stone effect of the cream partial strips.

I still have a plan for these other blocks but it’s changing a bit since I’m a little short on time these days 🤣

Have you joined the SAHRR? It’s not too late to do so if you haven’t. it’s really one of my favourite QAL events of the year.

Thanks for stopping by. Do pop over to Kathleen’s blog HERE to see the creative ways everyone is using this week’s prompt in their Stay at Home Round Robin projects.

I’m linking with Kathleen McMusing for this week’s SAHRR linkup.

I have been fondling fabric and creating things with fabric and fiber for as long as I can remember. My children had homemade clothes, blankets, canning and quilts most of their lives. Now I create goodies to share! Hope you enjoy viewing them as much as I enjoy making them! When I am not creating with fiber or fabric I keep busy with Dear Heart, kids, grandkids, great grandkids.

  1. You had to make so many hourglass blocks last week that you deserve an easier border this week. Plus the “stepping stones” at the bottom look like a path into the house, and I too like the effect. Plus I’m happy to find your link party and visit.

    1. Thank you. I was trying for a path effect since all roads lead to home. I’m so happy you found us. There are some amazing craftspeople that link up and the To Do List helps us keeping projects moving forward. 😉

  2. The stair step look really works with that panel. I’d wait to see what you do for the third border before enlisting the services of your seam ripper.
