Sunday Summary #219

I hope you’ve all had a good week making progress on your lists. Mine wasn’t great for stitching time, but I did make a bit of progress on a couple of my projects.

My Last To-Do Goals:

I’m now volunteering 6 days a week in the Pro Shop n the clubhouse, renting carts and collecting golf fees. It’s fun when it’s busy, but when the weather is rainy I’ve had to resort to other ways of keeping myself occupied:

It’s makeshift but works for short lengths of time.😉

It’s fun seeing people’s faces and hearing their comments on my Featherweight and fabric choices 😁

Now it’s time to see how I did with my goals for the week:

1. Keep making some bags for the Christmas Hamper/Dinner event in December from everything I have kitted up. No progress 😢

2. Keep hand stitching in the evening to finish the needlepoint kit. Made some progress.

Oops! Forgot to take a new photo! 😉

3. Finish making my quilt top from my crumb blocks and leftover panel blocks. No progress on this one 😢

4. Keep working to empty my project bins. No progress 😢

5. Keep making some progress on the memory quilts from all of my family’s t-shirts or clothing. A couple more blocks quilted

6. Finish the blocks for the quilt for C’s friend in Nova Scotia. I found the fabric and can report that I’ve made progress!

7. Keep playing with the blocks I’ve made from Denise’s donated bits in one of her many Treasure boxes she sent of goodies now to get one of the quilt tops finished this week. Pressing is finished and sashing is being sewn on.

8. Work on finishing my project for an upcoming hop. Some progress

9. Finalize my plan for a project for my favourite Hop of the year. Project decided on. I’ve pulled fabrics; just need to press and start cutting!

Carol from Just Let Me Quilt is stepping up to host this one 🤩

10. Keep Samantha and her squirrel buddies from distracting me or coercing me to start anything else new 🐿️🐿️🐿️🐿️. Nothing new started and I’m not counting the projects I’ve added to my “Must Make List” 🤣✅

This Week’s goals:

Now it’s time to set my goals for the week.

1. Keep making some bags for the Christmas Hamper/Dinner event in December from everything I have kitted up.

2. Keep hand stitching in the evening to finish the needlepoint kit.

Need a new photo! I’m down to the white portions on the pattern! 😁

3. Finish making my quilt top from my crumb blocks and leftover panel blocks.

This needs to get done. 🤔

4. Keep working to empty my project bins.

5. Keep making some progress on the memory quilts from all of my family’s t-shirts or clothing. I think these blocks are multiplying while I’m sleeping.

6. Finish the blocks for the quilt for C’s friend in Nova Scotia.

7. Keep playing with the blocks I’ve made from Denise’s donated bits in one of her many Treasure boxes she sent of goodies now to get one of the quilt tops finished this week.

8. Work on finishing my project for an upcoming hop. The list is now posted and there will be lots of spooky inspiration for us all!

Joan from Moosestash Quilting is hosting the Hallowe’en Spooktacular!

9. Finalize my plan for a project for my favourite Hop of the year:

Stitchin’ Time

Kate from Life in Pieces hosts a weekly linky party to help us keep to our goals of stitching every day. I just love her new logo!

I’m trying for at least 30 minutes a day this year and 1 hour at the end of the week to tidy up and deal with my scraps. 🤔

  • January 4/31
  • February 2/28
  • March 10/31
  • April 12/30
  • May 29/31
  • June 28/30
  • July 31/31
  • August 30/30
  • September 26/30
  • October 4/4
  • this week 7/7
  • Previous Total: 172/270
  • Total: 179/277
  • Percentage = 64.62 %

I was able to get my stitching time in every day in spite of volunteering, trips to town for meds, and holding the final Golf Tournament of the year. I hope you all get to set and keep your goals for your Stitching Time and join Kate. 😁

Stash Report

I like to link with Donna @ QuiltPaintCreate to keep track of fabric in and out of my stash. If I can plan trips to the studio I expect my stash to be reduced terrifically when I start making backings for all of the quilt tops I’ve got to do. 🤩

  • Fabric Used: 0 yards
  • Fabric Purchased this week: 0 yards
  • Fabric Previous Balance: 15 yards
  • Fabric Purchased this year: 9 yards
  • Balance in stash to use this year: 90 yards

* my goal is to lessen my stash by 200 50 yards this year but realistically I’ll be happy with whatever I manage. I’m lessening my goal since I’ve been using mostly scraps, leftover bits and donated treasures and since I’ll not be getting to use my longarm my backing fabric usage will be minimal.😉

* any fabric used from the scrap bins, was gifted or a prize; doesn’t count as stash!

Memories of Quilts From the Past

This log cabin is layered with batting and wool roving because it’s in a house with wood heat. It was gifted to the wife by her husband to celebrate their purchase of the property.

Design Wall Mondays

Judy, at Small Quilts and Doll Quilts, hosts a linky party for “Design Wall Mondays” every week.

I’m including some photos of my current WIPs;

My UFO and WIP List

Last but not least I have to update my UFO Speadsheet and then try keeping it up to date and so help with my accountability now that I have gone through everything in my storage room and sewing space. I think I’ve given up on getting this updated. I might just wait and start fresh next year. 🫤.

I use the spreadsheet that Quilting Gail shared several years ago, but I do need to update it!

This week I’ll even manage to link up with our To-Do Tuesday and the other parties I enjoy.

In closing I’d like to thank you for visiting, for joining the To Do Tuesday linky party, for sharing the party link, and above all for being part of my quilting world. 🤗 Carol

I have been fondling fabric and creating things with fabric and fiber for as long as I can remember. My children had homemade clothes, blankets, canning and quilts most of their lives. Now I create goodies to share! Hope you enjoy viewing them as much as I enjoy making them! When I am not creating with fiber or fabric I keep busy with Dear Heart, kids, grandkids, great grandkids.

  1. Maybe you aren’t having lots of time to stitch, but you’ve done well at keeping up the minimum time this week. Does the golf course stay open during the winter? Or do they close for a few months?

    1. The golf course dies close once the snow starts falling (which might be next week) but the restaurant leases are keeping it open all winter which is a first. I’m looking forward to the snow. It’s a different world here when it does! More stitching time and happy kids toboganning. 😆

    1. Thank you Sara. Hopefully my busy time will slow down soon as the golf course closes and I can get back to playing with fabric more. Good luck emptying those project boxes. 😉
