Sunday Summary #201

Hello and welcome to my Sunday Summary and To Do Tuesday List.

I hope you all have had a wonderful week, filled sunshine and fabric fun.

I had a week that was filled with meetings, organizing a golf tournament, time spent with a backup machine that is normally my go to class machine and time with my DH.

All of the injured souls in my life are recuperating. Best news is my friend did not require heart surgery at this time. Instead she is home with a complete change to her medication regime and is starting to get some energy back. All I can say is thank you to doctors that insist on second and third opinions, and one more round of tests before doing open heart surgery.

I had a fun new challenge this week, getting out on the golf course to assist the Greenskeeping staff. We had a crew of volunteers come out to punch the greens; coring them, then spreading sand and sweeping it in to the mini holes. It was fun being out with the group, but I can tell this old lady was sore after manning the business end of a shovel and broom for eight hours 😎 and I hadn’t realized how hot it was until I woke up with a sunburn the next day.

My Last To-Do Goals:

I had a week where I managed to do some stitching every day. I made progress on several projects, but didn’t get any daylight photos of the progress, but I’ll do my best to share some photos.

First off, let’s see how I managed with my last week’s To Do Tuesday List:

1. Keep working on my EPP, embroidery and embroidery sampler. Just a bit of work on a binding. 😁

2. Continue plugging away at the memory quilts for my son, granddaughters and Clarke’s family from a collection of T-shirts from my son, DIL and granddaughters and our Clarke’s clothing.. I’m guessing I am about 1/3 of the way through these blocks. 😁

3. Keep playing with the orphan blocks and goodies from Denise, with some additions from my stash, to use up more bits and pieces until those project boxes are empty. Went through the bins to see which projects I should work on next! 😁

4. Finish making the blocks from my crumb pieces once I find the right background. I’m thinking that lovely grey fabric I just bought might do the trick. Just need to check it out in daylight hours. The blocks are on my sewing table so I can do the next step as Leaders and Enders.

5. Get working on Gail from Quilting Gail’s Mystery QAL since it finished a while ago. Strip sewing has begun this one 😁

6. Keep working on the replacement green quilt 🤣 since I do have to gift it to our Treasurer at the Guild who is retiring and has been training me to do the job. This has to be a finished quilt by next Wednesday so the deadline is tight! 😳

This little quilt needs to be 48” x 84” 🤔

7. Continue fixing popped seams and stay stitching the edges of the next bin of quilt tops for Liz’s project if we can exchange bins this week. No progress on the bin of quilts yet. 🥹

8. Do not let Samantha or any of her squirrel buddies side track me🐿🐿🐿🐿. Technically this was a success, but in actuality, I switched my plan for the green quilt to doing a second Jelly Roll Mystery Quilt as you can see from the green strips on my machine and sewing table in #5. 😁

This Week’s goals:

This week has me 3 meetings for the Golf Club, helping with a golf tournament on Saturday ( we have 3 holes that have $10,000.00 hole in one prizes), sorting and organizing the prizes, 1 trip to town for DH’s medications, gas and groceries, 2 medical appointments for DH and lots of stitching time in my plans.

Now it’s time for my new To Do Tuesday List:

1. Keep working on my EPP, embroidery and embroidery sampler.

2. Continue plugging away at the memory quilts for my son, granddaughters and Clarke’s family from a collection of T-shirts from my son, DIL and granddaughters and our Clarke’s clothing. I’d really like to finish getting at least the blocks in this bag sandwiched and quilted. 😁

3. Keep playing with the orphan blocks and goodies from Denise, with some additions from my stash, to use up more bits and pieces until those project boxes are empty.

4. Finish making the blocks from my crumb pieces once I find the right background. I’m thinking that lovely grey fabric I just bought might do the trick. Just need to check it out in daylight hours.

5. Get busy working on Gail from Quilting Gail’s Mystery QAL since it finished a while ago.. 🤩

6. Keep working on the replacement green quilt 🤣 since I do have to gift it to our Treasurer at the Guild who is retiring on June 4th. 😭

This little quilt needs to be 48” x 84” 🤔

7. Continue fixing popped seams and stay stitching the edges of the next bin of quilt tops for Liz’s project if we can exchange bins this week.

8. Do not let Samantha or any of her squirrel buddies side track me🐿🐿🐿🐿.

Stitchin’ Time

Kate from Life in Pieces hosts a weekly linky party to help us keep to our goals of stitching every day. I just love her new logo!

I’m trying for at least 30 minutes a day this year and 1 hour at the end of the week to tidy up and deal with my scraps. I wasn’t really off to a good start, but it is getting better as things settle down in my real life time and commitments lessen. 🤔

  • January 4/31
  • February 2/28
  • March 10/31
  • April 12/30
  • May 24/24
  • this week 7/7
  • Previous Total 45/137
  • Total: 52/144
  • Percentage = 36.11 %

I hope you all get to set and keep your goals for your Stitching Time and join Kate. 😁

Stash Report

I like to link with Donna @ QuiltPaintCreate to keep track of fabric in and out of my stash. If I can plan trips to the studio I expect my stash to be reduced terrifically when I start making backings for all of the quilt tops I’ve got to do. 🤩

  • Fabric Used: 0 yards
  • Fabric Purchased this week: 0 yards
  • Fabric Previous Balance: 15 yards
  • Fabric Purchased this year: 9 yards
  • Balance in stash to use this year: 194 yards

* my goal is to lessen my stash by 200 yards this year. 😉

* any fabric used from the scrap bins, was gifted or a prize; doesn’t count as stash!

Design Wall Mondays

Judy, at Small Quilts and Doll Quilts, hosts a linky party for “Design Wall Mondays” every week.

I’m including some photos of my current WIPs;

My UFO and WIP List

Last but not least I have to update my UFO Speadsheet and then try keeping it up to date and so help with my accountability now that I have gone through everything in my storage room and sewing space. I’ve made some progress but still haven’t finished updating my list with my newly discovered/forgotten WIPs from my storage room bins and boxes. 😅

I use the spreadsheet that Quilting Gail shared several years ago, but I do need to update it!

In closing I’d like to thank you for visiting, for joining the To Do Tuesday linky party, for sharing the party link, and above all for being part of my quilting world. 🤗 Carol

Buy Me a Coffee at ko-fi.com

Published by Carol Andrews

I have been fondling fabric and creating things with fabric and fiber for as long as I can remember. My children had homemade clothes, blankets, canning and quilts most of their lives. Now I create goodies to share! Hope you enjoy viewing them as much as I enjoy making them! When I am not creating with fiber or fabric I keep busy with Dear Heart, kids, grandkids, great grandkids.

  1. Well, definitely coffee over a kale smoothie – LOL! I can imagine that aerating the greens was a lot of work, but with friends it would be much more fun! Hope you get some pockets of sewing time in your busy week!

  2. Sounds like a really busy week, so you did well to work in your stitching time each day. You are definitely one busy lady. Hopefully the tournament goes well and you can still get in some stitching time too.

  3. Well admittedly, I do start my days with a smoothie although spinach is my greens of choice, LOL!! Doesn’t it always feel like we have so much to do and so little time? Add in errands and community and guild assigments and it gets even harder to make time for the really fun stuff! But as I note on my own post this week, every little bit moves us closer to the finish. Congrats on the new guild position!

    1. Hi Vivian. Thank you for the lovely comment and congratulations. My smoothie is banana, milk and peanut butter! I need a bit of protein to kick start my day. I think that for me my coping mechanism these days is just to keep as busy as I can. 🤣
