Sunday Summary #191

Hello and welcome to my Sunday Summary and To Do Tuesday List.

As I said in my last Summary I did wind up at D’s to be with her for surgery and after spending the next 24 hours with her after her release from the hospital I wound up driving home Thursday after making sure everything was organized for her.

It’s always a joy to make the trip when I end up on the ferry at night. They seem to get better and better at decorating every holiday season.

It’s been a busy few days with meetings and getting things organized for another fundraiser at the Golf Club since I got home.

My Last To-Do Goals:

1. Keep working on my EPP, embroidery and embroidery sampler as time and my eyesight allow. No progress. 😢

2. Continue plugging away at the memory quilts for my son, granddaughters and Clarke’s family from a collection of T-shirts from my son, DIL and granddaughters and our Clarke’s clothing. Managed to get a few more blocks put together. 😁

3. Keep playing with the orphan blocks and goodies from Denise, with some additions from my stash, to use up more bits and pieces until those project boxes are empty. No progress! 😢

4. Finish making the blocks from my crumb blocks now that Monique has handed me another huge bag of brightly coloured scraps. Made some progress stitching these blocks. 😢

5. Finish the pattern test if I get the next set of instructions. I have all of the instructions, but life got in my way this week! 😢

6. Get caught up with Gail from Quilting Gail’s Mystery QAL. Made some progress! 😁

7. Start piecing the borders to get this to a finished flimsy. I need to have it quilted and the binding and label on asap. No progress on the piecing yet 😭

This little quilt needs to be 48” x 84” when it’s done. Decisions need to be made how to add more borders! 🤔

8. I need to get myself organized because Gail from Quilting Gail just announced that she and several of my favourite bloggers are going to do what to me signals the start of the year! Yes the SAHRR 2025 will be starting in January! I think I’ve narrowed it down to a choice of two blocks as a starting point, but it will depend on my fabric pull! 😉

9. Do not let Samantha or any of her squirrel buddies side track me🐿🐿🐿🐿. She tried, but didn’t manage to sidetrack me in to starting anything new, but most of my stitching time for most of the week was spent working on playing with my studio project; a log cabin project that I forgot to take a photo of.

This Week’s goals:

This week looks like it is going to be fun with a few meetings, training to do the Treasurer’s position for my Guild and organizing a fundraiser at the Golf Club. I’m thinking fabric therapy will be required. 😉

Now it’s time for my new To Do Tuesday List:

1. Keep working on my EPP, embroidery and embroidery sampler as time and my eyesight allow.

2. Continue plugging away at the memory quilts for my son, granddaughters and Clarke’s family from a collection of T-shirts from my son, DIL and granddaughters and our Clarke’s clothing.😁

3. Keep playing with the orphan blocks and goodies from Denise, with some additions from my stash, to use up more bits and pieces until those project boxes are empty.

4. Finish making the blocks from my crumb blocks now that Monique has handed me another huge bag of brightly coloured scraps. 😉

5. Finish the pattern test.

6. Get caught up with Gail from Quilting Gail’s Mystery QAL. 🤩

7. Start piecing the borders to get this to a finished flimsy if I can find it. I seem to have misplaced it and I’m thinking I filed it in one of the bins under my cutting table. This has to be found and moved to the top of the list. 🤔

This little quilt needs to be 48” x 84” when it’s done. Decisions need to be made how to add more borders! 🤔

8. I need to get myself organized because Gail from Quilting Gail just announced that she and several of my favourite bloggers are going to do what to me signals the start of the year! Yes the SAHRR 2025 will be starting this week.

Stitchin’ Time

Kate from Life in Pieces hosts a weekly linky party to help us keep to our goals of stitching every day.

I’m trying for at least 30 minutes a day this year and 1 hour at the end of the week to tidy up and deal with my scraps. I wasn’t really off to a good start, but it is getting better as things settle down in my real life time and commitments lessen. 🤔

  • January 4/31
  • these week 7/7
  • Previous Total 4/4
  • Total: 11/11
  • Percentage = 100 %

I hope you all get to set and keep your goals for your Stitching Time and join Kate. 😁

Stash Report

I like to link with Donna @ QuiltPaintCreate to keep track of fabric in and out of my stash. If I can plan trips to the studio I expect my stash to be reduced terrifically when I start making backings for all of the quilt tops I’ve got to do. 😁

  • Fabric Used: 0 yards
  • Fabric Purchased this week: 0 yards
  • Fabric Previous Balance: 12 yards
  • Fabric Purchased this year: 0 yards
  • Balance in stash to use this year: 188 yards

* my goal is to lessen my stash by 200 yards this year. My goal this year is to use 200 yards of fabric from my stash. Last year I ended up using 156 yards so I’d like to continue working from my stash. 😉

* any fabric used from the scrap bins, was gifted or a prize; doesn’t count as stash!

Design Wall Mondays

Judy, at Small Quilts and Doll Quilts, hosts a linky party for “Design Wall Mondays” every week.

I’m including some photos of my current WIPs;

Last but not least I have finally updated my UFO Speadsheet and am now going to be keeping it up to date and so help with my accountability.

I use the spreadsheet that Quilting Gail shared several years ago. 😁

In closing I’d like to thank you for visiting, for joining the To Do Tuesday linky party, for sharing the party link, and above all for being part of my quilting world. 🤗 Carol

I have been fondling fabric and creating things with fabric and fiber for as long as I can remember. My children had homemade clothes, blankets, canning and quilts most of their lives. Now I create goodies to share! Hope you enjoy viewing them as much as I enjoy making them! When I am not creating with fiber or fabric I keep busy with Dear Heart, kids, grandkids, great grandkids.

  1. Between family duties, travel and volunteer duties, you still managed to get a lot done! Life seems to always put a monkey wrench into our crafty plans. Hmmm, ferry travel is nice, I’ve never done it by car. I’ll be joining you this week on working on a memory quilt — mine will be with photo transfers instead of t-shirts. Good luck with the guild and golf club duties but let them know they have to allow for craft time too!!

    1. Hi Vivian. Life does seem to get in the way of fabric fun sometimes but we do have to do what we have to do. I love my little ferry. It’s one of the best things about the trip to and from the studio (D’s place). Your memory quilt sounds fun. I’ve not had much luck with photo transfers. Have a great week. 🤗
