Sunday Summary #162

I’d like to wish you all a Happy Mother’s Day filled with family, friends, laughter, fun and perhaps some crafting time 💐

My Last To-Do Goals:

At last I have time to finish writing a catch up post.

I was away last month staying with Dee to look after her dog and house so she could go to her granddaughter’s dance completions. At the same time I was able to visit with my son and see some of my granddaughter’s competitions on line. I also was able to spend time with my longarm and managed to quilt 4 quilts. Just need to finish my bindings!

Then I had a crazy week and a half getting ready for my Guild’s annual fundraiser. I can say that it was a crazy one with our power company planning an outage until noon. We brought in generators and managed to have hot coffee, tea, soup and stews as usual. I think the power outage helped us since everyone had no internet or tv and more importantly; no coffee or breakfast. We managed to raise over $10,000.00 which will almost cover half of the cost of our flooring which was damaged during Covid.

Then of course there was the usual insane round of meetings for the Golf Club. In the past month I have had 23 meetings for either committees or the Board. One day I had two meetings scheduled for the same time. 🤣

At that point I was ready to just hide, but my DH took a tumble and we’ve had to deal with necessary exams and treatment. Thank heavens nothing was broken and with physio treatments now going to be part of our regular schedule, I’m hoping he can get back to playing golf every day if it’s not raining. 🤞🏻

Then we were entertained this past week with some spectacular views of the Aurora Borealis. I used to see them regularly when I lived up north so it was nice to enjoy them again

With all that is going on in our lives I’ve had to make some choices to cut back on my goals. Here’s a modified list but I do have some progress to finally share!

1. Keep working on my EPP, embroidery and embroidery sampler as time allows. No progress 😢

2. Get caught up with the Rainbow Neighbourhood QAL hosted by Sandra Walker from MMM Quilts No Progress😢

3. Keep working on some weaving projects for prizes for an upcoming Golf Tournament. It’s the perfect way to use up all of the wool I have collected when I was knitting socks, shawls and sweaters for the grands and great grands. My hands just can’t handle the needles anymore. I have finished 3 projects; 2 scarves and one shawl! 😁

4. Try to finish my pattern test.No progress 😢

5. Start on a memory quilt (which is my latest squirrel project since Sam got me again!) with some of Clarke’s clothing for her family: clothing is taken apart and prepped. 😉

6. Work on two more memory quilts (another squirrel project) for my granddaughters from a collection of T-shirts from my son, DIL and granddaughters. Some progress. The t-shirts were all taken apart and stabilizer applied. I’ve been putting blocks together. It’s now been updated to at least 3 quilts from all their t-shirts! 😁

7. Do not let Samantha or any of her squirrel buddies side track me🐿🐿🐿🐿 Since I was at the studio I was able to let Samantha side track me. I finished quilting 4 quilts while I was there. Just need to do the bindings and I’ll have 4 more done for my PHD in 2024! 😳

This Week’s goals:

1. Keep working on my EPP, embroidery and embroidery sampler as time allows.

2. Get caught up with the Rainbow Neighbourhood QAL hosted by Sandra Walker from MMM Quilts, before I start working on her new QAL!

3. Try to finish binding the four quilts. 😉

4. Try to finish my pattern test.

5. Keep working on a memory quilt with some of Clarke’s clothing.

6. Keep working on the memory quilts for my son and granddaughters from a collection of T-shirts from my son, DIL and granddaughters.

7. Keep playing with the orphan blocks and goodies from Denise to use up more bits and pieces. (I’m so excited to say I received another box from Denise and I have so many plans. I’ll post more about that later this week).

8. Do not let Samantha or any of her squirrel buddies side track me🐿🐿🐿🐿

Stitchin’ Time

Kate from Life in Pieces hosts a weekly linky party to help us keep to our goals of stitching every day.

I’m trying for at least 30 minutes a day this year and 1 hour at the end of the week to tidy up and deal with my scraps. I’m not really off to a good start, but it should get better as things settle down in my real life time and commitments lessen. 🤔

  • January 21/31
  • February 27/29
  • March 27/31
  • April 20/30
  • May 9/11
  • this week 7/7
  • Previous Total 43/365
  • Total: 104/132
  • Percentage = 78.78 %

I hope you all get to set and keep your goals for your Stitching Time and join Kate. 😁

Stash Report

I like to link with Donna @ QuiltPaintCreate to keep track of fabric in and out of my stash.

  • Fabric Used: 12 yards
  • Fabric Purchased this week: 0 yards
  • Fabric Previous Balance: 85 yards
  • Fabric Purchased this year: 0 yards
  • Balance in stash to use this year: 73 yards

* my goal is to lessen my stash by 100 yards this year. I haven’t managed to actually figure out how much fabric I really have in my stash, but I have reduced my stash these past few years and really only purchase fabric if I need it for a particular project. If I do purchase fabric I add it to my Balance in stash to use this year in order to continue reducing my stash. 😉

* any fabric used from the scrap bins, was gifted or a prize; doesn’t count as stash!

I have been fondling fabric and creating things with fabric and fiber for as long as I can remember. My children had homemade clothes, blankets, canning and quilts most of their lives. Now I create goodies to share! Hope you enjoy viewing them as much as I enjoy making them! When I am not creating with fiber or fabric I keep busy with Dear Heart, kids, grandkids, great grandkids.

    1. Thanks Deb. It’s been a crazy year but some semblance of normalcy is returning with stitching time and time to catch up on social media. Best of all DH gets out for a few holes of golf most days now. 😆

  4. I don’t know if my post went through or not. My computer is being weird. Just in case, I will try one last time.
My favorite project was the blue and green project where the center looks like a river with flowers. I didn’t see a name, but sure is intriguing. I am looking forward to seeing your Rainbow QAL project. I love rainbows.
15 minutes a day has worked well for me as it really helps on the days I have no mojo. For me I count anything related to my quilty projects including cutting. It really looks like you are having a ton of success with this challenge.
I didn’t see this week Link Up for To Do Tuesday, but that could be all me.
Good luck on all of your projects this week!

    1. Hi Peggy. Thank you for your lovely comment. I really enjoyed making the project you liked. I’ll name it when I’m doing the binding/putting a label on it. 😉I got sidetracked this week (darn squirrels) so have no progress to sage of the Rainbow Neighbourhood yet. I’m so glad the 15 minutes a day is helping you move your projects along. I can understand the lack of mojo after my past couple of years. I hope you found the link up. I’m heading over there after dinner to see how every one is doing. 🤗
