Sunday Summary #156

It’s been two weeks since I managed to write my summary post, but I did have good reasons!

The first week was a fun, crazy busy week with meetings and prep for a fundraiser at the Golf Club. It snowed but I had volunteers to fix that issue. The good news I didn’t have to shovel any snow! 😉

The bonfire was lit, the skis, snowboards, snowshoes and sleds arrived, the the ski trail was set, the soup, chili, baked goods and hot chocolate was ready and we had so much fun listening to the laughter and seeing the smiles! We even raised some money for the Golf Club. 😁

I had several meetings over these two weeks, including a Grant Committee meeting to write some Grants for the Golf Club, a new commission and ongoing fundraising committee meetings.

Then my son, DIL and granddaughters gave me the best gift of all! They came to stay at one of our local hot springs! It’s only 2 1/2 drive to the hot springs so I managed to visit several days and still sleep in my own bed and take care of my DH!

I’ve also had several conversations with my youngest son as he shared stories of watching missiles go overhead and war ships cruising by. 🤔

I managed some sewing time in between other activities, but don’t have much to show for it, 🤔

My Last To-Do Goals:

1. Keep working on my EPP, embroidery and leader/ender projects. No real progress but I am enjoying the hand stitching. 😢

2. Get caught up with the Rainbow Neighbourhood QAL hosted by Sandra Walker from MMM Quilts. I’d love to get this one done. My fabrics, pattern and blocks are back out, but that’s as far as I’ve gotten 😢

3. Allow myself to keep playing on a couple of projects from the boxes of treasures I received from Denise as my leader/ender projects. I have been making progress.😁

I have a plan for these hst’s! 😉

4. Keep working on my project for an upcoming blog hop;

5. Get caught up on this year’s SAHRR.I’m going to use my Gnome blocks and have a plan! 🤔

6. Work on/finish my pattern test. It’s coming along! 😁

7. Do not let Samantha or any of her squirrel buddies side track me🐿🐿🐿🐿 Samantha got me again 😂 It was Project Quilting 15.2 week! 😉

This Week’s goals:

While I do have a plan for the week, it’s likely to not show much progress since I am heading to the studio. D has tests at the hospital this week so I’m being there for her. DH has ready made meals in the freezer and I have lined up support for him for a couple of days. The good news; I should make some progress on my PHD in 2024! 😉

1. Keep working on my EPP, embroidery and embroidery sampler as time allows.

2. Get caught up with the Rainbow Neighbourhood QAL hosted by Sandra Walker from MMM Quilts.

3. Keep working on a couple of projects from the boxes of treasures I received from Denise as my leader/ender projects.

4. Try to finish my project for an upcoming blog hop;

5. Get caught up with the rounds for the SAHRR.

Hosted by the amazing Quilting Gail

6. Finish my pattern test.

7. Work on my newest squirrel project:

8. Do not let Samantha or any of her squirrel buddies side track me🐿🐿🐿🐿

Stitchin’ Time

Kate from Life in Pieces hosts a weekly linky party to help us keep to our goals of stitching every day.

I’m trying for at least 30 minutes a day this year and 1 hour at the end of the week to tidy up and deal with my scraps. I’m not really off to a good start, but it should get better as things settle down in my real life time and commitments lessen. 🤔

  • January 21/31
  • February 1/29
  • these two weeks 8/14
  • Previous Total 14/365
  • Total: 22/60
  • Percentage = 36.7 %

I hope you all get to set and keep your goals for your Stitchng Time and join Kate. 😁

Stash Report

I like to link with Donna @ QuiltPaintCreate to keep track of fabric in and out of my stash.

  • Fabric Used: 2 yards
  • Fabric Purchased this week: 0 yards
  • Fabric Previous Balance: 97 yards
  • Fabric Purchased this year: 0 yards
  • Balance in stash to use this year: 95. yards

* my goal is to lessen my stash by 100 yards this year. I haven’t managed to actually figure out how much fabric I really have in my stash, but I have reduced my stash these past few years and really only purchase fabric if I need it for a particular project. If I do purchase fabric I add it to my Balance in stash to use this year in order to continue reducing my stash. 😉

* any fabric used from the scrap bins, was gifted or a prize; doesn’t count as stash!

PHD in 2023

Quilting Gail was hosting the PHD in 2023 Challenge but this year you can join the fun and challenge at Ms P Designs USA 😉

Thank you for stopping by and reading my post. Your comments make my day and I do reply to each one. 😉 Carol

I have been fondling fabric and creating things with fabric and fiber for as long as I can remember. My children had homemade clothes, blankets, canning and quilts most of their lives. Now I create goodies to share! Hope you enjoy viewing them as much as I enjoy making them! When I am not creating with fiber or fabric I keep busy with Dear Heart, kids, grandkids, great grandkids.

  1. Sounds like a chock full week! Fun at the golf course and fundraising – always good. But the best part is seeing your family – and I am sure it was worth every bit of time on the road to do both visit and sleep in your own bed – definitely the best of all worlds. Your project list looks good, hoping for some good seing time for you!

  2. Hi Carol! Safe travels to visit D. It’s so nice that you can support her as well as you do. You’re a great friend. The event looks like it was fun and not having to shovel is a huge win in my book! {{Hugs}} a bunch, my friend. ~smile~ Roseanne

    1. Hi Roseanne. Finished some chores for D today, put a quilt on the frame and made a backing for another. It’s snowing (we sure need it. Our water table is only 51% of normal). Looks like a good week so far. 😉

  3. That is one long summary! What a great place to spend time with family. I wonder if that’s what it would be like if we could have used the hot tub on the super cold days? Won’t know as now the hot tub is broken and who knows if it’s even fixable 😦

    1. Hi Marsha. I used to love using our hot tub on frosty winter days! It was exactly as pictured with the steam billowing around. I can only hope yours is fixable. You’d really enjoy on those cooler days it if you can get it running. 🤗
