Sunday Summary #144

My week was derailed when my dear friend D. Had a fall and was taken by ambulance to the hospital. She has a brain bleed and another complication which will result in her having surgery on Tuesday. My days have been spent with her at the hospital and my evenings with walking the dog and spending some time with my favourite machines; my Avante long arm and my Janome MC9450. At least I’ve been able to do some stitching every day.

I also did a thing on Saturday:

Last goals:

1. Keep working on my EPP, embroidery and leader/ender projects. Some progress. 😁

2. Keep working on my Dresden blocks. No progress. 😢

3. Get caught up with the Rainbow Neighbourhood QAL hosted by Sandra Walker from MMM Quilts. I’ve had some progress 😁

4. Work on my project for the next Sew-It Show-It Challenge, When Pigs Fly, being hosted by Joan from Moosestash Quilting. I’m almost finished. Binding and writing should happen before D’s surgery. 😁

5. Allow myself to keep playing on a couple of projects from the boxes of treasures I received from Denise. I’ll try to behave and only do them as leader/Enders until I get caught up on my list. . Some progress. 😁

6. Finish my design for my project for the July Sew It – Show It Challenge, Picnic Party, hosted by Carol from Just Let Me Quilt. Some progress 😁

7. Do not let Samantha or any of her squirrel buddies side track me. 🐿🐿🐿🐿 I’m not sure if this one gets a check mark since I am at the studio and finding treasures here in my To Be Quilted bins. 😉

This week’s goals:

1. Keep working on my EPP, embroidery and leader/ender projects.

2. Keep working on my Dresden blocks.

3. Get caught up with the Rainbow Neighbourhood QAL hosted by Sandra Walker from MMM Quilts.

4. Work on my project for the next Sew-It Show-It Challenge, When Pigs Fly, being hosted by Joan from Moosestash Quilting.

7. Do not let Samantha or any of her squirrel buddies side track me. 🐿🐿🐿🐿

Studio To – Do List

1. When I get back to the studio make quilting my Roll of the Dice quilt the priority and get the binding put on. No progress 😢

2. Finish my second Heading North quilt, designed by Sandra of MMM Quilts which I left at the studio. No progress 😢

3. Work on the last binding that needs to be hand stitched when I get back to the studio. No progress 😢

4. Finish my DWR which is on the frame. Some Progress 😁

5. Finish squaring up and binding this panel quilt. It’s squared up so some progress 😁

Stash Report

I like to link with Donna @ QuiltPaintCreate to keep track of fabric in and out of my stash.

  • Fabric Used: 0 yards
  • Fabric Purchased this week: 0 yards
  • Fabric Previous Balance: 51yards
  • Fabric Purchased this year: 3 yards
  • Balance in stash to use this year: 51 yards

* my goal is to lessen my stash by 100 yards this year. I haven’t managed to actually figure out how much fabric I really have in my stash, but I have reduced my stash these past few years and really only purchase fabric if I need it for a particular project. If I do purchase fabric I add it to my Balance in stash to use this year in order to continue reducing my stash. 😉

* any fabric used from the scrap bins, was gifted or a prize; doesn’t count as stash!

PHD in 2023

Quilting Gail is hosting her PHD in 2023 Challenge again this year. 😉

Thank you for stopping by and reading my post. Your comments make my day and I do reply to each one. 😉 Carol

I have been fondling fabric and creating things with fabric and fiber for as long as I can remember. My children had homemade clothes, blankets, canning and quilts most of their lives. Now I create goodies to share! Hope you enjoy viewing them as much as I enjoy making them! When I am not creating with fiber or fabric I keep busy with Dear Heart, kids, grandkids, great grandkids.

  1. I’m so sorry to hear about D’s fall and upcoming surgery. I hope all goes well for her. Your new hairstyle looks so nice on you! I just got my hair cut short this weekend, too. Feels so much better!

  2. So scary for your friend. Fingers crossed the surgery goes well and she fully recovers. In spite of all the excitement you still managed a 7/7 week on the stitching front. Love the haircut, it will be cool for this summer. Good luck with your goals for this week.

  3. So sorry about D! You are such a good friend to her….prayers for her and you as she travers this. Love the haircut. I had the longest hair this year, when I hadn’t cut mine for a year with my ankle and all its fun. I once was that short, but have never gone back. I like it on you, and do understand the getting used to it thing. I’ll be curious to see if it sticks….often feel like once you do it, you get to love it and it is hard to go back to long!

    1. Thank you Kathleen. We appreciate the prayers and well wishes. My hair used to be below my waist in my 20’s and thirties. In my fourties’ I went between shoulder and mid back length. In my 50’s and 60’s it varied between ear and mid back. I have never had it this short but I am loving the no fuss/easy care route. 😉

  4. hair looks great! short hair is easy to care for I think and have had it short for years. Each time I start to grow it out I can’t tolerate it and get it cut again. Hope your friend does well.

    1. Thank you Gail. I’m pretty confident the surgery will go well. Great doctors here to take care of her. The haircut is different but I’m liking it (I think). It was a good week to keep sewing as much as possible. 😉

  5. Hi Carol! Oh my goodness. I am so sorry to hear about D. That was some serious fall. I know I’ve said ti before, but what a great friend you are. Tomorrow is her surgery. I will be sure to add her to the top of my prayers and continue praying for you both. I hope all is going well with DH. Your haircut looks fabulous. Just perfect for the summer. I know sewing is a good therapy for all of us, and I’m glad you can immerse yourself in plenty of it. Those treasures will wait for you and just the right special project. {{Hugs}} ~smile~ Roseanne
