Sunday Summary #140

We had a trip to Kelowna on our agenda this week. DH had his checkup at the MS Clinic. On our way there on Wednesday, we just missed the flooding at Grand Forks so before leaving to come home I made sure to check BC Road Reports and we ended up coming home over the Monashee. It’s my favourite route since I get to ride the ferry.

Last goals:

1. Keep working on my hand quilting, EPP projects and leader/ender projects. Some progress but not enough to show off photos.

2. When I get back to the studio next, make the time to quilt my version of A Roll of the Dice. No studio time this week.

3. Finish my second Heading North quilt, designed by Sandra of MMM Quilts. No progress.

4. Keep working on my Dresden blocks and decide on my final plan for sashing and borders. No progress. 😢

5. Work on the last binding that needs to be hand stitched when I get back to the studio. Didn’t happen.

6. Start working on my purple RSC blocks. Some progress. 😁

7. Keep working on my project for the May Sew It – Show It Challenge “Rose Colored Glasses” being hosted by Carol from Just Let Me Quilt. Almost finished. Needs to be quilted and bound. 😁

8. Get caught up with the Rainbow Neighbourhood QAL hosted by Sandra Walker from MMM Quilts. I’m still not caught up but I have everything cut out for all of the blocks. 😁

9. Finish up my two UFOs. No progress. 😢

10. Work on the pattern tests. The batik one is complete. I had to add hanging loops. The second one is ready for quilting. 😉

11. Do not let Samantha or any of her squirrel buddies side track me from my list or tempt me with any new projects. 🐿🐿🐿🐿

We arrived home Saturday. I unloaded, unpacked, made dinner, did laundry, managed to catch my granddaughter’s Dance Competition on line, and then sat at my machine for an hour. It felt sew good!

If life doesn’t interfere too much (I only have two meetings scheduled this week and no town trips) I should be able to get caught up on blog reading, comment posting and sewing time to get some items crossed off my list! 😉

This week’s goals:

1. Keep working on my EPP, embroidery and leader/ender projects.

2. When I get back to the studio make quilting my Roll of the Dice quilt the priority and get the binding put on.

3. Finish my second Heading North quilt, designed by Sandra of MMM Quilts which I left at the studio. 😳

4. Keep working on my Dresden blocks and decide on my final plan for sashing and borders.😉

5. Work on the last binding that needs to be hand stitched when I get back to the studio.

6. Start working on my orange RSC Challenge blocks.

7. Finish my project for the May Sew It – Show It Challenge “Rose Colored Glasses” being hosted by Carol from Just Let Me Quilt.

8. Get caught up with the Rainbow Neighbourhood QAL hosted by Sandra Walker from MMM Quilts.

9. Finish up my two UFOs.

10. Finish the pattern test quilt.

11. Start planning a project for the next Sew-It Show-It Challenge, When Pigs Fly, being hosted by Joan from Moosestash Quilting

12. Allow myself to plan a couple of projects from the box of treasures I received from Denise:

13. Do not let Samantha or any of her squirrel buddies side track me. 🐿🐿🐿🐿

Stash Report

I like to link with Donna @ QuiltPaintCreate to keep track of fabric in and out of my stash.

  • Fabric Used: 0 yard
  • Fabric Purchased this week: 3 yards
  • Fabric Previous Balance: 58 yards
  • Balance in stash to use this year: 61 yards

* my goal is to lessen my stash by 100 yards this year. I haven’t managed to actually figure out how much fabric I really have in my stash, but I have reduced my stash these past few years and really only purchase fabric if I need it for a particular project. 😉

* any fabric used from the scrap bins, was gifted or a prize; doesn’t count as stash!

PHD in 2023

Quilting Gail is hosting her PHD in 2023 Challenge again this year. 😉

Thank you for stopping by and reading my post. Your comments make my day and I do reply to each one. 😉 Carol

I have been fondling fabric and creating things with fabric and fiber for as long as I can remember. My children had homemade clothes, blankets, canning and quilts most of their lives. Now I create goodies to share! Hope you enjoy viewing them as much as I enjoy making them! When I am not creating with fiber or fabric I keep busy with Dear Heart, kids, grandkids, great grandkids.

  1. Wow all the pieces cut for the Rainbow Neighbourhood is a huge amount of time. I am mostly cutting as I go, bad I know, but it works for me! Glad you found another and safe way home. My aunt’s neighbour has a sister there and she also had to detour because of that bridge washout. And here I sit a province over right now in Alberta where everyone is WISHING for rain, while in my home province we are wishing for sun and warmth!

    1. Hi Sandra. I took my fabric, cutting mat and rotary cutter with me since I’ve been short on time to catch up. My grandson and his family have left Grand Prairie because of the smoke/fires. My son and his family are on evacuation alert (outside of Drayton Valley). My daughter can’t go outside because of the smoke (heart issues). It’s just crazy this year and way too early for wildfires. Be safe, my friend and do enjoy your visit! 😢

  3. You didn’t do so badly on stitching time this week considering you had to make an overnight trip. Hope you get to spend some quality time with your machine this week.

    1. Hi Kathleen. So far only my grandson and his family are out of their home, but everyone else is still home. As for me, I sew when I’m trying not to stress. Hope the smoke isn’t too bad for you and dissipates soon. 😉

  4. It is always fun getting a box of treasures from someone. There is usually lots of creative inspirational ideas of how to use them that come to mind. Best of luck! Thanks for sharing in Sew & Tell

  5. You did great, Carol! Wow, just getting all the Rainbow Neighbourhood blocks cut is a task in itself. I have cut all the chimneys and sky and parts of the roof that will remain the same in all the houses, as well as the grass. I need to get busy. Thanks for sharing with us at MM.
