My Weekly Recap & To Do Tuesday #137

Last week my week started with another trip to the studio on Sunday late evening. It’s tax time here in Canada and D had found out what the tax preparers were going to charge her to do their tax returns so I popped over to do them for her. We discovered we were missing a couple of receipts so we will have to wait for them to arrive in the mail which means I will need to get back there before the end of the month. In the meantime I managed to play on the longarm. Since I haven’t used it for a while I did a couple of small projects. I arrived back home Thursday just after midnight and headed to bed almost immediately. I was woken at 4:30 with an urgent need to make it to the bathroom. I’d picked up a nasty bug and spent all day Friday sleeping, visiting the bathroom and trying to stay hydrated. Luckily Saturday had me feeling better since I had a Golf Course Board meeting and had to be at the Guild for another organizational meeting for our fundraiser. After dinner I was able to spend some quality time with my machine so life got back to normal fairly quickly! 😁

Waiting for the ferry to land 😁

Last goals:

1. Keep working on my hand quilting, EPP projects and leader/ender projects. No progress 😢

2. When I get back to the studio next, make the time to quilt my version of A Roll of the Dice. No time to work on it. 😢

3. Finish my second Heading North quilt, designed by Sandra of MMM Quilts. No progress.

4. Keep working on my Dresden blocks in between my other projects. The centres are made and just need to be sewn down. 😁

5. Work on the last binding that needs to be hand stitched when I get back to the studio. Didn’t happen.

6. Keep working on my project for the next monthly Sew it – Show it Challenge, hosted by Joan from MooseStash Quilting. Done and posted! 😁

7. Keep working on my RSC Challenge blocks. It’s purple this month but I still didn’t get any done! 🤔

8. Start planning a project for the May Sew It – Show It Challenge “Rose Colored Glasses” being hosted by Carol from Just Let Me Quilt. Fabrics are cut and stitching has begun. 😁

9. Keep up with the Rainbow Neighbourhood QAL hosted by Sandra Walker from MMM Quilts. I’m behind already! 😢

10. Do not let Samantha or any of her squirrel buddies side track me from my list or tempt me with any new projects. 🐿🐿🐿🐿 didn’t get much done on my list, but I did manage to work on finishing some of my UFOs and started a new panel quilt when Sam kept reminding me I needed to practise on some smaller projects on the longarm to try to get back in practise and I discovered a sweet young lady needed a quilt.😉

This week’s goals:

1. Keep working on my EPP, embroidery and leader/ender projects.

2. When I get back to the studio make quilting my Roll of the Dice quilt the priority and get the binding put on.

3. Finish my second Heading North quilt, designed by Sandra of MMM Quilts.

4. Keep working on my Dresden blocks centres. 😉

5. Work on the last binding that needs to be hand stitched when I get back to the studio.

6. Start working on my purple RSC Challenge blocks.

7. Keep working on my project for the May Sew It – Show It Challenge “Rose Colored Glasses” being hosted by Carol from Just Let Me Quilt.

8. Get caught up with the Rainbow Neighbourhood QAL hosted by Sandra Walker from MMM Quilts.

9. Square up the two UFOs and get the binding on them.

10. Do not let Samantha or any of her squirrel buddies side track me from my list or tempt me with any new projects. 🐿🐿🐿🐿

Stitchin’ Time

Kate from Life in Pieces hosts a weekly linky party to help us keep to our goals of stitching every day.

I’m trying for at least 30 minutes a day this year, and have my week set as Saturday as my week end.

  • January 31/31
  • February 28/28
  • March 31/31
  • April 12/15
  • this week 5/7
  • Previous Total 96/98
  • Total: 101/105
  • Percentage = 97.96 %

Stash Report

I like to link with Donna @ QuiltPaintCreate to keep track of fabric in and out of my stash.

  • Fabric Used: 0 yards
  • Fabric Purchased this week: 0 yards
  • Fabric Previous Balance: 59 yards
  • Balance in stash to use this year: 59 yards

* my goal is to lessen my stash by 100 yards this year. I haven’t managed to actually figure out how much fabric I really have in my stash so it just seems reasonable to keep working from stash. I have reduced my stash these past few years and really only purchase fabric if I need it for a particular project. 😉

* any fabric used from the scrap bins, was gifted or a prize; doesn’t count as stash!

Had to copy this from Quilting Gail’s blog. 😉

PHD in 2023

Quilting Gail is hosting her PHD in 2023 Challenge again this year. 😉

Thank you for stopping by and reading my post. Your comments make my day and I do reply to each one. 😉 Carol

I have been fondling fabric and creating things with fabric and fiber for as long as I can remember. My children had homemade clothes, blankets, canning and quilts most of their lives. Now I create goodies to share! Hope you enjoy viewing them as much as I enjoy making them! When I am not creating with fiber or fabric I keep busy with Dear Heart, kids, grandkids, great grandkids.

  1. Great you give those UFOs a chance.
The strap over the handle on the pouch back was a great idea.
Picked up a nasty bug wasn’t fun, good you felt better soon.
    Have a great week, Carol.

  2. I love your pouch! I think I need to make one though I seldom travel with a wheeled suitcase anymore. Still, that would be so much better than my purse that always falls off my suitcase when pulling it. Does it have a zipper somewhere on the front or side?

  3. It is always a good feeling to see projects move forward and when you get to improve skills, well, that is just bonus. Good luck with your list this week, and thanks for sharing in Sew & Tell. 🙂
