My Weekly Recap & To Do Tuesday #131

I can honestly say this has been a week! I’ve had 3 days of town trips for DH’s appointments, errands, prescription and grocery shopping. Then there were 4 board meetings and two days of interviews for the Clubhouse Manager position. On top of that we have had numerous power outages resulting in no internet or power for several hours at a time. The good news I still managed sewing time every single day; some much more than others. It was a real necessity to have time putting needles and thread to fabric. Finding solace with fabric when days are emotional or rough has become my standby activity (it’s better than rearranging furniture DH says 😉). It’s been a year now since we lost our Clarke so I’ll share a couple of not previously shared photos;

I also had good news which made my week; I won some fabric from Quilting Gail from the last IB Collection that she showcased in the Puffer Quilt Blog Hop! How much fun is that?

I love the puffy quilt Gail made and these fabrics are too cute! I already have a plan for them. 😁

Last goals:

1. Keep working on my hand quilting, EPP projects and leader/ender projects. Some progress on several of these projects. 😃

2. When I get back to the studio next, make the time to quilt my version of A Roll of the Dice which is back on the frame.

3. Finish my second Heading North quilt, designed by Sandra of MMM Quilts. No progress.

4. Keep working on my Dresden blocks and Double Wedding Ring quilt in between my other projects. I have decided the DWR is a finished flimsy now, so it’s ready for quilting. It’s now in the pile to go to the studio, along with it’s binding and backing fabric. No progress on the Dresden blocks, but I have a plan decided on for the centres finally. 😁

Had to lay it out on my design bed since I don’t have room for a design wall! I think it is a nice size for a queen size bed (I’ve laid it out several times) and just needs to be finished now! 😉

5. Work on the last binding that needs to be hand stitched when I get back to the studio.

6. Keep working on my project for Little Green Apples Blog Hop hosted by Carol from Just Let Me Quilt. Some progress; it’s ready for quilting! 😃

7. Start planning a project for the next hop hosted by Joan from MooseStash Quilting. I have a project picked out; just need to decide on fabrics and get started! 😁

8. Keep working on my RSC Challenge blocks. March’s colour is green🍀☘️

9. Work on my SAHRR border once the next prompt is posted. This is one of my favourite QALs of the year and I enjoy working along with Quilting Gail and all of our quilty friends prompts each week. The prompt from Gail is Pinwheels. I have the blocks done and borders are on!😉

10. Do the new Project Quilting Challenge when it is posted. Done, posted and linked on time 😁

11. Keep playing with the scraps from Monique so I can get those bags emptied and out of my sewing corner. 😁 The blocks are done, sashing is cut and an assembly plan is all worked out. 😁

12. Do not allow Sam or any of her squirrel friends to distract me any more this week. 🐿💕🐿 Success! I was able to avoid distractions and stick to my stitching plan for the week. 😁

This week’s goals:

1. Keep working on my EPP, embroidery and leader/ender projects.

2. When I get back to the studio make quilting my Roll of the Dice quilt the priority and get the binding put on.

3. Finish my second Heading North quilt, designed by Sandra of MMM Quilts.

4. Keep working on my Dresden blocks centres. 😉

5. Work on the last binding that needs to be hand stitched when I get back to the studio.

6. Keep working on my project for Little Green Apples Blog Hop hosted by Carol from Just Let Me Quilt.

8. Keep working on my green RSC Challenge blocks.

7. Start pulling and cutting fabrics for my project for the next hop hosted by Joan from MooseStash Quilting.

9. Work on my last SAHRR border so I can get it quilted and bound. This is one of my favourite QALs of the year and I enjoy working along with Quilting Gail and all of our quilty friends.

10. Keep playing with the scraps from Monique so I can get those bags emptied and out of my sewing corner. 😁

11. Do not allow Sam or any of her squirrel friends to distract me any more this week. 🐿💕🐿

Stitchin’ Time

Kate from Life in Pieces hosts a weekly linky party to help us keep to our goals of stitching every day.

I’m trying for at least 30 minutes a day this year, and have my week set as Sunday to.

  • January 31/31
  • February 28/28
  • March 4/4
  • this week 7/7
  • Previous Total 56/56
  • Total: 63/63
  • Percentage = 100 %

Stash Report

I like to link with Donna @ QuiltPaintCreate to keep track of fabric in and out of my stash.

  • Fabric Used: 12 yards
  • Fabric Purchased this week: 0 yards
  • Fabric Previous Balance: 94 yards
  • Balance in stash to use this year: 82 yards

* my goal is to lessen my stash by 100 yards this year. I haven’t managed to actually figure out how much fabric I really have in my stash so it just seems reasonable to keep working from stash. I have reduced my stash these past few years and really only purchase fabric if I need it for a particular project. 😉

* any fabric used from the scrap bins, was gifted or a prize; doesn’t count as stash!

Had to copy this from Quilting Gail’s blog. I still haven’t succumbed.😉

PHD in 2023

Quilting Gail is hosting her PHD in 2023 Challenge again this year.

Thank you for stopping by and reading my post. Your comments make my day and I do reply to each one. 😉 Carol

I have been fondling fabric and creating things with fabric and fiber for as long as I can remember. My children had homemade clothes, blankets, canning and quilts most of their lives. Now I create goodies to share! Hope you enjoy viewing them as much as I enjoy making them! When I am not creating with fiber or fabric I keep busy with Dear Heart, kids, grandkids, great grandkids.

  1. Busy, busy! I find that keeping busy keeps me out of trouble and out of the fabric store. I did shop with a friend last week. Purchased 3 meters of fabric I hope to use as sashing in my RBD quilt.

    1. Hi Ioleen. You are so right that keeping busy is good. 3 meters of fabric? For a specific project? Great restraint. I’m not so sure I’ll do as good when I do go to some shops. 😉

  2. Hi Carol! Aww, {{hugs}} a bunch for you. I can’t believe it’s been a year already without sweet Clarke. Of course she liked to model new clothes! She knew how cute she was. Thank you for sharing those pictures with us. Great job on your list last week in spite of all the diversions. No electricity! That’s a hard obstacle to overcome. Great job on your SAHRR. You’ll be ready for the parade. {{Hugs}} ~smile~ Roseanne

    1. Thank you Roseanne. Strange how quickly the years go by now, isn’t it? The No electricity (no heat, no tea or coffee😢) is rough, but I do have projects on hand to keep busy. I am hoping to finish my SAHRR on time. 🤗

  4. Clarke was such a cutie pie. Thank you for sharing the pics with us. It seems unreal that it’s already been a year, but time does fly. Sewing is definitely great therapy. Power outages are definitely no fun, especially in the cold, but glad you were able to stitch a bit through them. I love how your SAHRR turned out. I do hope you are able to get to your studio soon to quilt it! Your scrappy blocks are awesome!! Thanks for linking up with Monday Musings.

  5. Wow, you’ve had a really good year on the stash and stitching fronts. Good luck with this week’s to do list. Glady you’ve been able to find some peace with your stitching, that’s a hard loss to absorb in just a year.

  7. Beautiful projects here, and I’m happy that you were able to sew despite the power troubles. Quilting definitely keeps the mind busy and focused, it helps hen it’s needed.
Thank you so much for sharing these photos and projects, and linking up. Hugs.
