It’s about time I managed to sit down and write a post to join LeeAnna of Not Afraid of Color and a group of friends who write about the things that bring them joy or they are grateful for.
One of the things I love the most living here is the scenery every time of year. This winter we are having a heavy snow year and DH and I are sharing the snow shovelling duty. It’s so worth it when I get to enjoy the view here:

Like most quilters, I do enjoy being able to help my community with my quilts. This year at our Board meeting we were informed that the society that does the Christmas Hampers has had another increase in the clients they provide for. They always manage to get great gifts for the kids, but are always short of items for the seniors or people with disabilities. I was able to produce a few items this year (with help from the amazing people who donate fabric, UFO’s and scraps to my projects).

I am grateful to be able to spend a few days with my best friend after we lost her husband in the fall. I drove the 5 hours to her house through cold, – 18 Celsius weather and was greeted with hugs and entered a magical Christmas environ.

Spending 3 days here was wonderful since I was able to help with some chores, and deal with the 14+ inches of snow we got on Tuesday.
Wednesday was a day spent fondling fabric (which everyone knows I love), doing some hand stitching by the fire and having phone and FaceTime conversations with family, while old Christmas music from our younger years was playing on the radio in the background. Did I mention it was -27 Celsius? Such a blessing to have this time with a wonderful friend.
While you are reading this I am on the road, travelling home to beat the Friday before Christmas traffic and the blizzard we are expecting. I’ll be home by supper time if the roads are good and will have a quiet Christmas weekend with my DH. The menu? His favourite; barbecued burgers with a side salad for me with a sesame dressing.

From my home to yours; wishes for a very Merry Christmas filled with great food, much laughter and love, and time with family and friends.
Thank you for spending some time with me as you read this. I am especially grateful for all of you. ❄️🎄☃️ Carol
Ho, ho, HO, Carol! I love the Grinch! All the snow you are receiving is making me anxious for all the shoveling you’re doing. D’s place looks quite magical with all the pretty decorations. Enjoy the peace and quiet with DH. Having just the Christmas tree lights on while it’s cold and blustery outside is truly a blessing to be thankful for. Too many are in warming shelters tonight. Merry Christmas to you both. {{Hugs}} a bunch! ~smile~ Roseanne

Thank you Roseanne. It was a lovely visit with D and so nice to enjoy her Christmas decorations. This cold weather sure has been nasty. The shelters are so full and the weather warnings are all out. DH is happy I’m home. Merry Christmas ☃️🎄

I should be reading this while sipping from my Grinch mug since you have a little nod to the Grinch there. What lovely views you have, and what a wonderful friend, to travel through the winter weather to spend time with D. I hope you and DH have a lovely Christmas, tucked in and warm, and enjoying those burgers!

Wendy thank you. A Grinch mug? What fun! I’m home and don’t need to go anywhere for a couple of days. Merry Christmas to you all! 🎄❄️🤶🏻

I didn’t realize D did the decorating – I assumed you helped her with it. She did great, and good for her for doing it in spite of her grief! She has a beautifully decorated home. I hope you enjoy a cozy and warm Christmas with your DH!

Hi Linda. When I was there for the service in October I hauled all the boxes in bins to their respective rooms. It kept D busy doing a bit here and there. She does Christmas well and it her home is so cozy with the decorations. I’m home and tucked in; DH and I aren’t going anywhere. Merry Christmas to you all 🎄❄️🤶🏻☃️
