Wednesday in a Winter Wonderland

Greetings from a beautiful, cold Okanagan!

The lake down below is frozen! That doesn’t happen usually this early in the winter 😱

I’m at the studio. I arrived here Monday about 8:30 pm. It’s been busy times helping D get ready for her first Christmas without Kenny. We had white out conditions with a nasty blizzard that has left most of our Province in severe weather conditions. Vancouver got hit with so much snow that they closed the bridges!

Here in Oyama we got about 14” of snow so I was outside several times to shovel the driveway. This old lady can only shovel for 5-10 minutes at a time when the weather is this cold so I take lots of breaks. 🥶

I’ve taken care of several chores for D but we had a wonderful evening last night enjoying a Christmas movie (or two) and all of her pretty Christmas decorations. Everything is now up and even the bathrooms have their own Christmas trees! That’s why DH doesn’t come here. He says it looks like Christmas threw up all over the house 😉. He’s such a Grinch!

As I’m writing this it’s -26 Celsius here so I’m thinking it will be a good day to sit in the studio by the stove and sew. 😁

A sneak peek at an upcoming hop project. 😉

Update: some sewing happened but Lizzie, my longarm is not having any part of quilting this trip.

I am back on the road heading home tomorrow before the next blizzard hits us on Friday.

Have fun and enjoy your week!

I have been fondling fabric and creating things with fabric and fiber for as long as I can remember. My children had homemade clothes, blankets, canning and quilts most of their lives. Now I create goodies to share! Hope you enjoy viewing them as much as I enjoy making them! When I am not creating with fiber or fabric I keep busy with Dear Heart, kids, grandkids, great grandkids.

  1. What a gorgeous view!! It looks very cozy and pretty with the Christmas decorations. It’s good that you have been able to help D adjust, my prayers are with her. I guess you are headed home now – be safe and stay warm and enjoy your Christmas – even with the Grinch 😉

  2. How wonderful that you and D spent time together – you have been such a great friend. I am married to a grinch too, but we know that their hearts do grow bigger at times! I don’t envy you the snow and sorry you weren’t able to get to your longarm. We are mostly getting rain from this one! Merry Christmas to you and yours!

    1. Hi Kathleen. My Grinch does have a big heart. I not sure why he dislikes Christmas but then he’s not fond of other holidays now that I think of it. Merry Christmas my friend 🎄☃️❄️

  3. Hi Carol, yup, snow here closed the bridges and made a huge mess of everything. We’ve got freezing rain now, even though it’s warmed up to -4! Thats burrrrr for Vancouver! Have a safe drive home! And have a Merry Christmas!

    1. Thanks Gail. I got home late late last night through blizzard and often whiteout conditions. Looks like you’re still getting it down there weather wise. Stay home, stay safe and have a wonderful Christmas. 🎄☃️
