Blog hops really do inspire, with our projects, posts, tutorials and patterns.
This month’s hop is being hosted by Joan from MooseStash Quilting who we all know is enamoured of all things Hallowe’en. 😉
My inspiration for the project for this hop came when I had the opportunity to test some block patterns for a designer I enjoy. Sandra Healy Designs had created more of her fun blocks and these are Hallowe’en themes.
I started with testing the Ghost block in both 6” and 12” sizes:
In our Queen of the Gadgets Blog Hop last month I had shared one of my favourite gadgets; my Accuquilt cutter and dies. My only issue with my cutter is the fact that the cutting mats wear out and I’m always trying to upcycle them. I did share in my post that I would show one of my favoured upcycle uses for the worn out mats.
Then I tested the Cauldron pattern for Sandra Healy:
That meant I needed to make the Witch block to have enough blocks for my projects.;
Next step was to sew the Witch and Cauldron blocks together, then sandwich and quilt them. I had fun stitching in the ditch and echo quilting these blocks.
Then I took the Ghost block, added some pieced scrap fabrics to make the back panel, then sandwiched and quilted it as well.
My next step was to cut lining pieces and make my straps.
In the end I had two Trick or Treat bags, ready to gift to one of K and D’s neighbour’s two children. These two were such great sources of joy to K. They often visited or sent drawings to K before he passed away. The parents were so wonderful and always had time to take Cody out for a walk when we were tied up at the hospital or Hospice. It’s a small thank you for all of their help and will have a few treasures (colouring books, markers, stickers and perhaps a goodie or two 😉) inside when they are gifted to Maddie and Jimmy.
Sending a huge thank you to Sandra Healy for allowing me to test some of her blocks and for creating the perfect patterns for this Hop! 😁
This is the list for the blogs who are participating today. Don’t forget to check out their posts and be prepared to get your Spooky on! 🎃
