#2022 Planning Party Mid Year Check In

It’s time for Yvonne at Quilting Jetgirl’s mid year link up to help with keeping us on track to meet our goals and plans for the new year.

My goals for 2022 were to finish the quilts that are in those bins, and complete each and every new project I started in this year. I’m happy to be able to continue doing some pattern testing for all of the wonderful designers I have been assisting and I would also be satisfied to continue with the charity quilting I have been doing.

My year started well, but in February we lost my 2 year old great granddaughter and my best friend’s are experiencing horrendous health issues which has meant I have been travelling to a Memorial Service and am at my friends place almost weekly.

I had some fun challenging myself by doing 5 out of 6 Project Quilting Challenges:

Did you see the totes in the photo at the beginning of my post? They were filled with my unquilted tops, complete with backing, binding and extra fabric in case I decided to make any of the quilts larger. I did get two UFO’s finished but still have 2 more bins to go.

The tracker that Gail Shepherd from Quilting Gail has been a great tool for me to keep track of my projects:

I’m doing fairly well with finishing my 2022 starts 😉

I even started some hand work this year since I had lost my mojo and needed to keep my hands busy:

I also managed to get some quilt tops finished for both Victoria’s Quilts Canada and Quilts for Survivors; two charities that I care about and try to support:

I have done some pattern testing in these past months;

Playing with my long arm is the one thing I don’t get to do often since the studio is 5 hours drive away, but when I get there it is nice to be able to play. I did have an issue and she needed to go to the emergency department, but she is back home on her frame now. 😉

Considering all that real life has been throwing at my family and friends this year, I am content with the progress I have made. I can only hope that things will settle down and I can continue trying to get those bins emptied and not add to my UFO List. 😉

Thank you for stopping by to read my post. 😁 Carol

I have been fondling fabric and creating things with fabric and fiber for as long as I can remember. My children had homemade clothes, blankets, canning and quilts most of their lives. Now I create goodies to share! Hope you enjoy viewing them as much as I enjoy making them! When I am not creating with fiber or fabric I keep busy with Dear Heart, kids, grandkids, great grandkids.

  1. Oh my, I’m so sorry to hear about your great granddaughter, Carol. And what a blessing you must be for your good friends. Life sounds like it has been difficult, and I hope that the second half of the year is much less tumultuous for you. I think you’ve made wonderful progress given everything else that has had to rightly take priority. May the second half of the year bring you a lot of quilting joy and some lighter moments in life.

    1. Thank you Yvonne. It has been a year, but life is settling down (sort of) in to a routine and my family is getting sorted out. Our on line community has been a great comfort and it feels good to get some machine time in again.

  2. I am amazed at all you’ve gotten done with everything that has happened. I have no excuses other than laziness, and I’ve done very little. I would say you are the friend to have, Carol, when life happens. You are a sweetheart. 🙂

    1. Thank you for your kind words Linda. It’s the support from our on line community that is helping me cope with all life is sending my way. As for laziness that is one word I could never imagine anyone attributing to you. You are always so busy 😉
