There is a wonderful group that get together on LeeAnna’s blog, Not Afraid of Color to share lists of things that make them happy, things they love or things they like.
I really like taking the time to think of things that make me happy and appreciate my life just a little bit more; things that can help me cope with these crazy times and the concern we are all experiencing with Covid numbers rising, the strange political goings on in so many parts of the world and finding ways to cope with losing my ex husband, a dear friend in a motorcycle accident and an aunt in a two week period.

I love DH and his bizarre sense of humour. He has been coming up with funny sayings that he learned from his father, a transplanted Newfie! They come out of his mouth at very unexpected times just to try to make me smile. I tried to get a picture of him playing golf today but so far he is managing to avoid the camera. I like seeing him get around now with no walker or walking stick.

I like being able to get outside for walks now that the rain cleared most of the smoke from our skies and helped get our local fire contained. You can just see the one plume to the left of the ridge now. We are enjoying weather in the mid twenties now. I think it’s safe to say Indian Summer has arrived and our trees are just starting to change color now.
I love getting snail mail. Yesterday I received a lovely sympathy card with a sweet note from a quilty friend from our on line community. Yes, I did smile through my tears knowing that our community does take the time to care for each other, and to help each other out with words of comfort. I also received a wonderful card thanking me for some quilt tops and blocks I had donated to a charity. Both were very touching surprises.
I love surprises and prizes and today I received an email from Carla at Creatin’ In The Sticks. I won a gift certificate for the Fat Quarter Shop! It was an incredible surprise and I admit to doing a happy dance because I had just been browsing the shop for a couple of things I need!
I like getting my machines back from the spa and getting the report on their condition. I have a wonderful technician that I trust implicitly to take care of my toys. When I picked up both of them I was happy to get a good report on my Janome. It’s 20 years old and good for at least another twenty he says. My Pfaff however is not so great. The hook is going so we discussed the pros and cons about putting more money in to keeping a 30 year old machine running. Then I looked at the various quilting machines he had in stock. It was fun to look and try them out but I had to say no. They are out of my budget at this time. Then Allan offered me a deal I couldn’t refuse. I am now the proud owner of a HQ Avante 18 on a twelve foot frame. I think I got the deal I did because I have sent all of my friends and students to him for their spa treatments and repairs and he has sold 8 machines in the past 2 years to several of us. I like feeling appreciated because I value an honest tradesman/technician. Since I have limited space in our apartment it will live at my friends home in Oyama. It just means we will have to visit for nice long visits 2 or 3 times a month!
I really like making some progress on the 4 quilts I am doing as pattern tests for some designers I admire. If life can settle down now in to a normal routine, I should have all 4 flimsies finished before next weekend. We only have 2 town trips next week for medical stuff. I have a telephone consult with my doctor and our Guild has our AGM (via telephone) on Wednesday. I like thinking I CAN do it and perhaps even finish quilting the quilt I need to gift on Tuesday 🥴
I love popping around to visit the other people that join up on LeeAnna’s blog and reading what makes them happy. I especially enjoy seeing the photos of their fur babies and their gardens.
If you get a chance to stop by some of their blogs do so. I can guarantee you will find a smile, a giggle or perhaps even a chuckle at each of the posts.
Thanks for stopping by to read my post. I really enjoy the comments! 😄 Carol

Hi again, Carol! That t-shirt really made me chuckle. I LOVE that DH is getting around so much better. It really hasn’t been that long! AND look at that beautiful blue sky!! YAY and thank the Lord. So many pretty fabrics, but that teal with the swirls really catches my eye. Happy Thursday! ~smile~ Roseanne

Great shirt! Glad hubby is doing better. Love your fabrics for your quilts. Wow to finish 4 in a week is but a wee dream for me. LOL Now maybe 4 quilts in a couple of years is doable for me. Glad the fires and slowing and fall is progressing.

Hi Wendy. It was such a wonderful surprise to win. Can’t wait until my goodies arrive. I’m still trying to get a photo of DH out on the course. We all need that tshirt I I think. 😉

I’m so late this week… nice list. Love your camera shy husband, and so sorry about all the losses. Happy about the rain but we have horrible air still from fires, and don’t know if they will ever go out. Yes to fabric, I was just looking online today…

LeeAnna I’m so sorry to hear your air hasn’t gone improved yet. It’s horrifying. Thank you for your kind words. As for being late I completely understand. I’m feeling so far behind everything these days. I think DH’s obsessive/compulsive news watching is wearing on me. 😢
