Friday and Saturday; A New Adventure!

In case you didn’t know I recently spent a couple of days moving my little sewing space around and reorganizing things. It is part of my spring cleaning regime.

Today I had to do the dreaded trip to Castlegar for groceries. I had my mask and gloves on and was pleasantly surprised that I only had to point out the directional arrows to one person! I actually managed to get a package of toilet paper. That was a relief because we were down to the last roll! 🥴 I did not get any Lysol wipes however and disinfectant sprays were gone as well.

I decided that since I have been behaving with my fabric diet it was time to treat myself to a new tool.

Got this baby home. Found my good screwdriver and the unboxing commenced. I read over the instructions and sorted the screws and bolts. Started putting it together and ran into big problems. The screw holes hadn’t been tapped out correctly. Phoned Canadian Tire to make sure they had another one at customer service. They only had 2 in stock when I arrived at the store this morning.

I drove the hour back to Castlegar. Put on a clean mask and gloves and headed in to the store. The staff was wonderful! Last week my iron had died and a friend picked up one at Walmart for me. When he dropped it off I discovered it didn’t work (just my luck 😉). He tried to return it but Walmart isn’t taking returns at all right now. So he paid for another iron and I had to transfer money to him. See? Big difference!

By the time I got home (keep in mind that’s 4 trips to town = 4hrs) it was time to make dinner. After dinner I sat to finish the binding on a quilt with a cup of tea.

I’m guessing that assembling my cart will likely wait until morning now.

It’s done and ready to be used! You don’t want to know about some of my language while dropping screws and trying to make it fit right🤬!

So there’s another finish! Now to get back to squaring up those hsts. Might be done by dinner time!

Hope you had a chuckle over my latest adventure. It was a good one during the Covid Days of spring! 😉 Carol

I have been fondling fabric and creating things with fabric and fiber for as long as I can remember. My children had homemade clothes, blankets, canning and quilts most of their lives. Now I create goodies to share! Hope you enjoy viewing them as much as I enjoy making them! When I am not creating with fiber or fabric I keep busy with Dear Heart, kids, grandkids, great grandkids.

  1. Carol – I did chuckle about your adventure! I can relate to long drives to go shopping … did that for YEARS!
And putting things together … I’m usually OK with fabric, but anything else is always a challenge for me!
Hope you get your HST done!
    Happy Quilting! 🙂

  2. That is the one drawback to living in the country…it is a long drive to get to places like this!! Very frustrating! I think I would have tried to enlarge the holes with a Dremmel or found smaller screws!! Looks great and will be very handy in your quilting room!

      1. Did you have a spelling error? I didn’t notice but had been looking on last be at them on Thursday. I found a beautiful piece of wood while out for a walk and had been thinking of doing some wood carving. My phone spell checked it for me, and NO! I didn’t let myself get sidetracked with another project! 😁

  3. Well, getting that cart together definltely had a story of its own! I’ll bet you’ll get so much use out of it, you’ll quickly forget about the salty language and anguish of the whole thing 🙂

  4. Hi Carol! I already knew you had a huge success on your hand because I saw it on IG last night. I LOVE this cart. It’s pretty darn handy, as well, isn’t it?! Great job in spite of the frustrations. ~smile~ Roseanne
