I can’t believe I managed to finish one of the pattern tests I’m doing!
It’s been a busy week for me. I was teaching at the Guild on Saturday. Then Tuesday my students needed an extra day of help. They are all at different stages in their quilts so I was busy with instructions for many different things. On top of that one of my quilters was starting a new quilt for an adult granddaughter and has problems with cutting. I had taken my Accuquilt cutter with me so we were able to make short work of cutting over 1000 2 1/2” squares. The varied width strips and rectangles took a good bit longer. I’m happy to say we got the whole queen size quilt (made of 6” blocks) cut before she had to leave.
Wednesday morning was the start of organizing, sorting, measuring and pricing for our annual fundraiser. It’s at the end of April and we have a lot of fun with a fabric, wool, notions, equipment, plants and bushes for sale and a fantastic tea room, too! All of our goods are donated from within the community from New Denver to Trail. Usually we manage to raise $5000 – $6000. It helps to pay for the maintenance and repairs of our building for the year.
Wednesday evening I got a panic call from a Quilter needing help to fix a mistake so I popped in to our Wednesday evening Gab n Jab to help her.
Today was my day to play with fabric. Last week I showed peeks of the fabrics I’m playing with.
I had finished all of the blocks on Friday so today was pressing, squaring up, and assembling the top. I even managed to get the borders on.
Needless to say I’m doing the happy dance because I even managed to start quilting my quilt for my great granddaughter, Clarke. It’s slow going because my shoulder isn’t working as well as I’d like, but, hey! I’m doing some stitch in the ditch to stabilize it and then I get to have fun with designs I drew out. I don’t even need to feel guilty taking a whole day to play because it was a rainy day and even my housework is all done.
What are you working on today? Has winter left your part of the world? I’m not expecting it to be spring yet in the mountains of BC but it was nice to go outside without a jacket today. 😄 Carol
