DREaMI project

Yesterday I was at my Guild for my monthly class and working to help my students with their varied projects.

While there 3 of us took a break to run to New Denver to see the renovations Kathy had made to her shop, Sew Much More Quilt and Yarn. She was having her grand re-opening and was offering a discount to customers.

I watched my two partners in crime making their piles of treasures; bolts of fabric to be cut, yarn to be knitted or crocheted and such fun notions! Feeling very proud of myself I managed to stick to my diet and left with only 1 piece of fabric; a yummy Batik in cream and brown which should be the last piece I need for a quilt together I am doing with my quilty partner from the Okanagan.

After stopping to grab a London Fog or Lattes we headed back to the Guild. While I was gone Lori had almost finished her log cabin blocks, Marcy had her borders on her blocks for a GAYQ quilt she started, Brenda had her quilting design drawn on her borders, Traci had another block finished for her Sampler Quilt (she is one of my beginner quilters) and Monique was picking the lace off her duvet cover. We settled in for a few more hours of laughter, stories, fabric fondling and sewing fun. I even managed to finish cutting a new quilt pieces.

Once I got home and had dinner with DH, I got out my Appliquick tools which I had won and been telling my quilters about. That’s when that squirrel ran across my head!

I grabbed some muslin, batting and a handful of scraps from my bin. Two squares were made in a wonky QAYG block. I squared up the blocks to 11.5 inches. Using sashing strips I joined the two blocks and added a casing strip to the top ends of the blocks. Side seams were sewn and pieces of metal measuring tape pieces were slid into the casing. The last inch of the side seams were then hand sewn to close them and secure the snappy strips.

And here we go………
