Playing Catch Up!

The past week and a half has had me busy running back and forth to town, having my teaching day at the Guild (very excited! I have a newbie Quilter attending! Another addict has been created.), dropping everything to go to a friends’ assistance when she had a quilting emergency, and getting the news that my next great grandchild is due in early December and it’s a girl! 😄.

As usual with new quilters I am starting Lori with a Sampler Quilt. I love the mix of pattern blocks we use; starting off with Courtyard Steps and ending with a Grandmother’s Fan or Drunkards Path (depending on how the student picks it up). I appreciate knowing that any of my students can pick up pretty much complete any pattern, after they do the first quilt with me. It sure makes me proud of these ladies when I see them doing blocks that I was too afraid of doing for years. We also do a QAYG method so their first quilt is finished and they are using it by the spring.

Here’s some pictures of the some of the past few years quilts, blocks or participants. Occasionally some sewing of items other than quilts happen!

We are very fortunate to have been able to purchase an old one room schoolhouse for our Guild. For several years we had to do an obscene amount of fundraising to bring the building up to code. Now we are able to just maintain the building and do Reno’s or improvements as we desire. Last spring we upgraded to power to the next level of service and added 15 more outlets to ensure we can do any class without have popped breakers all the time.

As for my sewing for the past week and a half, I now have 3 finishes which I can’t share and am going to spend my evening cutting paper piecing templates for another project which can’t be shared and finishing cutting the fabrics for the Mosaic Mystery QAL that Cheryl from Meadow Mist Designs has just started!

Here’s the link for that one if you want to join in:

I also have finished my project for Marian from Seams to be Sew upcoming Blog Hop which starts in September. Stay posted for that Hop info. It’s going to be so much fun!

Thank you for spending part of your weekend with me by stopping by. I do hope you are getting the rain like we are after suffering a heat wave for the past 2 weeks!😄 Carol

I have been fondling fabric and creating things with fabric and fiber for as long as I can remember. My children had homemade clothes, blankets, canning and quilts most of their lives. Now I create goodies to share! Hope you enjoy viewing them as much as I enjoy making them! When I am not creating with fiber or fabric I keep busy with Dear Heart, kids, grandkids, great grandkids.
