Lonestar Update

Homecoming
A modern variation of a Lonestar Quilt

This quilt is the Lonestar which has so much history attached to it.  It was picked apart when a grandson spilt his grape juice on it.  Then my machine crashed.  Then I had to modify my design several times because I just didn’t’ have enough of the fabric to redo the original which was a Lonestar Circle from the center to the edge.  I had fun working out the design for the border panel which will fall just beneath the top edge of the mattress.  I fretted over the quilting design, but now that I have started I am very happy with the effect.  Finished size will be 108″ by 108″.  Judy knew exactly how large she wanted it to be.  I will use Carstairs Mills wool batting again.  It was interesting using the roving this way; very different from the rolled wool/cotton batting I am used to using.

I have been fondling fabric and creating things with fabric and fiber for as long as I can remember. My children had homemade clothes, blankets, canning and quilts most of their lives. Now I create goodies to share! Hope you enjoy viewing them as much as I enjoy making them! When I am not creating with fiber or fabric I keep busy with Dear Heart, kids, grandkids, great grandkids.
