Sunday Summary #251

Hello and welcome to my Sunday Summary and my To Do Tuesday post which is long overdue. I’m horrified to realize it’s been forever since I posted my To Do list. 😲

My Last To-Do Goals:

Real life has been really getting in the way of my stitching time since my DH has been officially diagnosed with Dementia and I’ve been having to deal with his not being able to act on his choice to use MAiD. It seems as if anyone who has ever known him is stopping by for visits, hoping that it’s a good day for him. It’s good to see him getting out to play a couple of holes of golf most days and hearing all of the “Remember when……..” stories.

My days are filled with appointments and being a caregiver but I’m just grateful to have any time to fondle fabric and thrilled to report some progress on a project. 😁

Now it’s time to see how I did with my last goals:

✅ 1. Play with my SAHRR to see if I can finally get it finished. I’ll call this a finished flimsy. It’s 44.5” x 61.5” and is the perfect size to gift to my sweet daughter in law. My son and his wife have a sweet little farm and are always the center of their social circles. Right now it’s canning season so they often have wonderful days in the summer kitchen with family and friends gathering to process the produce from their (and their close family and friends’) gardens.😁

2. Pull out another UFO and see if I can make any more progress on one of them. No progress 😢

3. Keep Samantha and her squirrel buddies from distracting me and sidetracking me from my list.  I’ll confess to volunteering to do another pattern test to try to get my sewjo going again and I’m looking forward to being able to share more when the pattern publishes. 😉

I can also share that the wedding quilt was well received by my friend’s son and daughter in law and is now comfortably spread on their bed. It’ll be a bit before they tuck their duvet in the middle since we’ve not yet had any snow.

I was able to get to the Quilting Days at my Guild since it’s only 2 minutes away and I can come home every hour to check on DH.

How are you doing with your lists. Will you manage to join the linky party this week?

This Week’s goals:

Once again I was drafted in to working the Provincial Elections. They wanted me to do both Advance Polls and Election Day, but I can only manage to arrange respite care for the 3 days of training (I can’t believe I have to do it all again with almost 50 years experience🥹) and the day of the Elections. It means I have 2 days of training, 2 quilting days at the Guild, a birthday and 3 medical appointments for DH this week. Did you notice 2 days at the Guild = fabric fun and a mental health break for me 😁

1. Try to get my SAHRR sandwiched and quilted.

2. Adding making a walker caddy to my list this week since my daughter will be having knee replacement surgery in a couple of weeks. She saw the one I’d made DH and has to have one for her walker to carry all of the things she packs around for her daily activities. When I had a training day this past week I had to stop at my LQS to check some machine prices for our Guild and some fabric just had to come home with me (even though I’d already pulled fabric for the caddy) but these just seemed “right” for my girl.

She used to be a purple girl but now seems drawn to teal; both green and blue. It’s appropriate because green signifies new beginnings and I’m praying my girl will be pain free after both knees are replaced. 🙏🏻

2. Pull out another UFO and see if I can make any more progress on one of them.

3. Keep Samantha and her squirrel buddies from distracting me and sidetracking me from my list. 🐿️🐿️🐿️🐿️

Stitchin’ Time

Kate from Life in Pieces hosts a weekly linky party to help us keep to our goals of stitching every day!

I’m trying for at least 30 minutes a day this year and 1 hour at the end of the week to tidy up and deal with my scraps. 🤔

  • January 31/31
  • February 25/28
  • March 25/31
  • April 2/30
  • May 10/31
  • June 23/30
  • July 27/31
  • August 4/31
  • September 12/30
  • October 2/10
  • previous total: 115/178
  • Total: 161/283
  • Percentage = 56. 89 %

How are you doing with your goal to stitch for at least 15 minutes each day? Have you joined Kate’s challenge? I’m hoping to get my stats up to 60% this year and I’ll be happy 😁

Stash Report

I like to link with Donna @ QuiltPaintCreate to keep track of fabric in and out of my stash. Last year I didn’t manage to use as much stash fabric as I planned since I don’t get to go to the studio and play on the long arm, but I’ve been working on finishing quilts on my dsm. 🤩

  • Fabric Used: 23 yards
  • Fabric Purchased this week: 2 yards
  • Fabric Previous Balance: 62 yards
  • Fabric Purchased this year: 7 yards
  • Balance in stash to use this year: 39 yards

* my goal is to lessen my stash by 100 yards this year but realistically I’ll be happy with whatever I manage.

* any fabric used from the scrap bins, was gifted or a prize; doesn’t count as stash!

Memories of Quilts From the Past

This went to a sweet young mom along with another one for her 10 year old son when circumstances had them moving unexpectedly with few belongings. I have another curvy log cabin cut out and started piecing at my studio. I need to pick it up one day to get it finished 😁

Design Wall Mondays

Judy, at Small Quilts and Doll Quilts, hosts a linky party for “Design Wall Mondays” every week.

I’m including some photos of my current WIPs;

My UFO and WIP List

I’ve made some changes to my tracker, but I’ll be linking with Ms. P. Designs and the PHD in 2026 Challenge

Need to update this again.

PS. Thank you if you bought me a coffee. I do appreciate your support. It really does make a difference in my world. 🤗

The fall colours are finally showing up, my resident bear hasn’t been here for 2 nights, but now I have a skunk visiting every night 🤭

I have been fondling fabric and creating things with fabric and fiber for as long as I can remember. My children had homemade clothes, blankets, canning and quilts most of their lives. Now I create goodies to share! Hope you enjoy viewing them as much as I enjoy making them! When I am not creating with fiber or fabric I keep busy with Dear Heart, kids, grandkids, great grandkids.

    1. Thank you Wendy. I really hope my sweet dil likes it. I’ve actually got the sewjo attacking me every day. I’m itching to spend time with machine and fabrics, but real life is kicking my butt. Good thing I love my DH or I’d be wanting to put him in a home. Just kidding. 🤭
