Happy New Year everyone!

I’m sitting and writing my post with my DH tucked in to bed. I’m listening to an audiobook and thinking of all the blessings I’ve had this past year; time spent video chatting with my kids, grands and great grands, laughter and special moments with DH, time spent creating beautiful things with fabric, and time spent contributing to my community. I’m trying not to dwell on the losses and the sorrow those losses have brought or the losses to come, but realize those are important to accept and try to find something good about them. The only thing I can think of is that my dear ones are no longer suffering so that is good.
I like watching the littles grow and become their own persons with varying characteristics and strengths.

I’m happy we finally have winter although there’s not much snow on the ground yet. The weather shows almost a week with snow every day so it will mean the little ones will be here on the golf course tobogganing on the hills. It’s always fun to hear their laughter and watch then sliding down and then hurrying to get back up to the top of the hills to go down again.

I like doing pattern testing for various designers. This past month I was able to do so for two different designers:

I’m really liking this pattern Arabesque, by Sandra from MMM Quilts.
and

the Seaborne Quilt by Kathryn Mykel of Dragonfly’s Quilt Design Studios.
I like being busy with volunteering in my community. It’s time to start organizing our annual fundraiser at my Guild. Our little shed out front is already filled with donations needing to be sorted and priced for our Yard n Yardage sale. I’ll start having work parties now that the holidays are over.

I’m also doing some fundraising at the Golf Club; poker parties, winter fun days with bonfires, hot chocolate, cross country skiing, snowshoeing and sledding. Doesn’t it just sound like fun?
I like having time to listen to an audiobook while I’m playing with fabric (it tunes out the channel flipping which DH is compulsive about).
This year my favourite finish was a Lonestar Quilt which was gifted to the daughter of one of my Guild members. She lives in Israel and her son has another of my quilts.

So thank you for visiting. I’m heading over to LeeAnna’s blog Not Afraid of Color later today to see everyone else’s gratitude posts. 🥳 Carol

“I like having time to listen to an audiobook while I’m playing with fabric (it tunes out the channel flipping which DH is compulsive about).” I couldn’t agree more with every word of this… just switch out the DH for Ron.

It is fun to see the kids become people, though it can be a bit sad to see them grow up. Sounds like you’ve already got a busy January heading your way. Enjoy!

Hi Kate. It’s always fun to be sorting donations at the Guild. I never know which friends are going to show up to help and who doesn’t. Love fundraiser where kids are laughing and frolicking in the snow. ⛄️

I wonder why guys seem to just HAVE to flip through the TV channels. Mine is also guilty of channel surfing. Drives me & Mom nuts. Lol! Wishing you a happy, healthy 2026!
