Sunday Summary #229

Hello and welcome to my To Do List. It was a crazy week here with DH’s birthday, his family being here for visits, and a crisis at the Golf Club which has resulted in several meetings and planning sessions. We also went to an annual Christmas Dinner. It was the 9th year for us attending together. We missed a few over the years with travelling we used to do. 😉 I’m fairly sure it is my DH’s last dinner party. He was so confused after being away from home for the evening (I thought he would enjoy being there with so many familiar faces; most attendees have been his friend’s for over thirty years, and his daughter and sister in law were there) that he asked me how long we were staying at this hotel?

It did mean I don’t have much progress to share on my To Do List, but I did get my stitching time I. And I’m okay with that as this year is nearing the end.

My Last To-Do Goals:

Now it’s time to see how I did with my goals for the week:

1. Finish reconstructing my version of Arabesque. No progress 🥹

2. Finish making my quilt top from my crumb blocks and leftover panel blocks. No progress 🥹

3. Finish the blocks for the quilt for C’s friend in Nova Scotia. No progress 🥹

4. Get the needlepoint stitched so I can decide how to finish it. I I’d find some thread that will work and managed to get some stitching done.

5. Finish more blocks for the memory quilts Some progress since these are sitting right by my machine

6. Work on binding the stack of quilts. Six inches left to complete one quilt which needs to be gifted this week.

7. If I finish any of the above projects I will start another of the projects from my project bins. I didn’t get to start anything from these bins yet 😢

8. Try to figure out if I can do anything with this lovely mountain of trimmings:

I did see a cute post on a To Do Tuesday Linky Party post a couple of weeks ago, on Crafts, Cavies and Cooking that just might have given me an idea or at least a starting point. I think I have a plan and I’m stitching some examples to see if it will work 😁

Aren’t these just the cutest crumb blocks! 😁

9. Keep Samantha and her squirrel buddies from distracting me again or sidetracking me from my list. 🐿️🐿️🐿️🐿️.

This Week’s goals:

I’m hoping this week will allow me to finish some of my projects and end the year right. It will be quiet here at home since neither DH or myself have family near by. We get to just relax and enjoy our days together. I only have to leave home once to go pick up my DH’s prescriptions and a few groceries. With it being the holiday season there are no meetings scheduled until next week.

1. Finish reconstructing my version of Arabesque

2. Finish making my quilt top from my crumb blocks and leftover panel blocks.

3. Finish the blocks for the quilt for C’s friend in Nova Scotia.

4. Get the needlepoint stitched so I can decide how to finish it.

5. Finish more blocks for the memory quilts

6. Work on binding the stack of quilts.

7. If I finish any of the above projects I will start another of the projects from my project bins.

8. Try to figure out if I can do anything with this lovely mountain of trimmings:

which were leftover after making the Seaborne Quilt by Kathryn Mykel of Dragonfly’s Quilt Design Studios.

9. I’m already planning my first start for 2026. Just look what is going to be starting soon:

Stitchin’ Time

Kate from Life in Pieces hosts a weekly linky party to help us keep to our goals of stitching every day!

I’m trying for at least 30 minutes a day this year and 1 hour at the end of the week to tidy up and deal with my scraps. 🤔

  • January 4/31
  • February 2/28
  • March 10/31
  • April 12/30
  • May 29/31
  • June 28/30
  • July 31/31
  • August 30/30
  • September 26/30
  • October 25/31
  • November 25/30
  • December 20/20
  • this week 7/7
  • Previous Total: 242/353
  • Total: 249/360
  • Percentage = 69.16 %

I’m getting closer to getting my stitching time back up to 70% by year end! 🤣. I hope you all get to set and keep your goals for your Stitching Time and join Kate. 😁

Stash Report

I like to link with Donna @ QuiltPaintCreate to keep track of fabric in and out of my stash. If I can plan trips to the studio I expect my stash to be reduced terrifically when I start making backings for all of the quilt tops I’ve got to do. 🤩

  • Fabric Used: 0 yards
  • Fabric Purchased this week: 0 yards
  • Fabric Previous Balance: 15 yards
  • Fabric Purchased this year: 9 yards
  • Balance in stash to use this year: 8 yards

* my goal is to lessen my stash by 200 50 yards this year but realistically I’ll be happy with whatever I manage. I’m lessening my goal since I’ve been using mostly scraps, leftover bits and donated treasures and since I’ll not be getting to use my longarm my backing fabric usage will be minimal.😉

* any fabric used from the scrap bins, was gifted or a prize; doesn’t count as stash!

Memories of Quilts From the Past

This was my version of MMM Quilts Pop Star pattern does as a QAL. It was so much fun! I think I even had all my fabric pieces oriented the right way! 🤩

Design Wall Mondays

Judy, at Small Quilts and Doll Quilts, hosts a linky party for “Design Wall Mondays” every week.

I’m including some photos of my current WIPs;

My UFO and WIP List

Last but not least I have to update my UFO Speadsheet and then try keeping it up to date and so help with my accountability now that I have gone through everything in my storage room and sewing space. The next one you see will be my 2026 list. 😉

I use the spreadsheet that Quilting Gail shared several years ago, but I do need to update it!

This week I might even manage to link up with our To-Do Tuesday and the other parties I enjoy.

In closing I’d like to thank you for visiting, for joining the To Do Tuesday linky party, for sharing the party link, and above all for being part of my quilting world. 🤗 Carol

PS. Thank you if you bought me a coffee. I do appreciate your support.

I just had to share from Quilting Gail’s blog! We can thank her for the earworm. 😁🎄🤶🏻
🎄Merry Christmas to you and yours from my home to yours! May your week be filled with family, fun times, fabric fondling and fine food and drink! 🎄

I have been fondling fabric and creating things with fabric and fiber for as long as I can remember. My children had homemade clothes, blankets, canning and quilts most of their lives. Now I create goodies to share! Hope you enjoy viewing them as much as I enjoy making them! When I am not creating with fiber or fabric I keep busy with Dear Heart, kids, grandkids, great grandkids.

  1. Sounds like it’s been a really busy week. Hope the club emergency has a path forward it not an outright resolution. Getting your stitching time in was an accomplishment last week. There always seems to be a lull in between Christmas and New Years, hopefully you can get lots done this next week.
