Sunday Summary #228

Hello and welcome to my To Do List. My week was sidetracked with 4 meetings, Writing a Grant, and of course DH’s medical stuff, but I can say I did get stitching time in every day and even found a couple of UFOs while moving/sorting things in my storage room. We also spent an afternoon at the Guild starting to get things started being organised for our annual fundraiser in April. The major sorting and pricing of all the donated goods will start in Ernest in January after the holidays.

My Last To-Do Goals:

Now it’s time to see how I did with my goals for the week:

1. Finish reconstructing my version of Arabesque. I did get the unstitched rows taken apart and fixed. I renewed them and even managed to get another row sewn on, but realized I had put one top row on upside down so Jack and I spent time together again. 🥹

✅ 2. Finish the quilt top using the leftover bits of blocks I have from Denise’s Treasure boxes she sent of goodies; leftovers and fabric pieces. I did get the outside border on this sweet quilt top and I’m now declaring it finished! It will go in to the To Be Quilted bin (yes I had to start another bin!) along with backing and binding.

3. Finish making my quilt top from my crumb blocks and leftover panel blocks. No progress 🥹

4. Finish the blocks for the quilt for C’s friend in Nova Scotia. No progress 🥹

5. Get the needlepoint stitched so I can decide how to finish it. No progress. I have misplaced the last thread (unless DH moved it. He’s been doing things like that lately; putting the milk in the cupboard, changing pajamas in the middle of the night – up to 4 times while I was sleeping, misplacing his glasses (I found them in the storage room), so need to go digging for more.

6. Finish more blocks for the memory quilts No progress 🥹

7. If I finish any of the above projects I will start another of the projects from my project bins. I didn’t start anything from the bins since I found some UFOs in the storage room.

8. Keep Samantha and her squirrel buddies from distracting me again or sidetracking me from my list. 🐿️🐿️🐿️🐿️. Fail! I found a stack of UFOs in the storage room that just need the binding put on to be able to say I’m finished. I guess I moved them when I had to rearrange furniture. 😳

Back to work on finishing bindings. How could I forget to finish these quilts? 😲

This Week’s goals:

It should be another good week for me on my stitching time. I only have 2 meetings (so far) and DH only has one appointment! It is my DH’s birthday on Thursday and we have been invited to a Christmas Party. I’m expecting Thursday will be busy with friends dropping in (I’ve put the word out it’s open house 😉) there’s a good chance his son and grandson might visit as well. Then attending the Christmas Party will depend on how DH is feeling after a busy week of company which always tires him out and increases his confusion.

1. Finish reconstructing my version of Arabesque

2. Finish making my quilt top from my crumb blocks and leftover panel blocks.

3. Finish the blocks for the quilt for C’s friend in Nova Scotia.

4. Get the needlepoint stitched so I can decide how to finish it.

5. Finish more blocks for the memory quilts

6. Work on binding the stack of quilts.

7. If I finish any of the above projects I will start another of the projects from my project bins.

8. Try to figure out if I can do anything with this lovely mountain of trimmings:

which were leftover after making the Seaborne Quilt by Kathryn Mykel of Dragonfly’s Quilt Design Studios.

I did see a cute post on last week’s To Do Tuesday Linky Party on Crafts, Cavies and Cooking that just might have given me an idea or at least a starting point.

Aren’t these just the cutest crumb blocks! 😁

9. Keep Samantha and her squirrel buddies from distracting me again or sidetracking me from my list. 🐿️🐿️🐿️🐿️🐿️

Stitchin’ Time

Kate from Life in Pieces hosts a weekly linky party to help us keep to our goals of stitching every day!

I’m trying for at least 30 minutes a day this year and 1 hour at the end of the week to tidy up and deal with my scraps. 🤔

  • January 4/31
  • February 2/28
  • March 10/31
  • April 12/30
  • May 29/31
  • June 28/30
  • July 31/31
  • August 30/30
  • September 26/30
  • October 25/31
  • November 25/30
  • December 13/13
  • this week 7/7
  • Previous Total: 235/346
  • Total: 242/353
  • Percentage = 68.56 %

I might even get my stitching time back up to 70% by year end! 🤣. I hope you all get to set and keep your goals for your Stitching Time and join Kate. 😁

Stash Report

I like to link with Donna @ QuiltPaintCreate to keep track of fabric in and out of my stash. If I can plan trips to the studio I expect my stash to be reduced terrifically when I start making backings for all of the quilt tops I’ve got to do. 🤩

  • Fabric Used: 0 yards
  • Fabric Purchased this week: 0 yards
  • Fabric Previous Balance: 15 yards
  • Fabric Purchased this year: 9 yards
  • Balance in stash to use this year: 8 yards

* my goal is to lessen my stash by 200 50 yards this year but realistically I’ll be happy with whatever I manage. I’m lessening my goal since I’ve been using mostly scraps, leftover bits and donated treasures and since I’ll not be getting to use my longarm my backing fabric usage will be minimal.😉

* any fabric used from the scrap bins, was gifted or a prize; doesn’t count as stash!

Memories of Quilts From the Past

Quilt made for our sweet Clarke. She would have been 6 today 💕

Design Wall Mondays

Judy, at Small Quilts and Doll Quilts, hosts a linky party for “Design Wall Mondays” every week.

I’m including some photos of my current WIPs;

My UFO and WIP List

Last but not least I have to update my UFO Speadsheet and then try keeping it up to date and so help with my accountability now that I have gone through everything in my storage room and sewing space. I think I’ve given up on getting this updated. I might just wait and start fresh next year. 🫤.

I use the spreadsheet that Quilting Gail shared several years ago, but I do need to update it!

This week I might even manage to link up with our To-Do Tuesday and the other parties I enjoy.

In closing I’d like to thank you for visiting, for joining the To Do Tuesday linky party, for sharing the party link, and above all for being part of my quilting world. 🤗 Carol

I have been fondling fabric and creating things with fabric and fiber for as long as I can remember. My children had homemade clothes, blankets, canning and quilts most of their lives. Now I create goodies to share! Hope you enjoy viewing them as much as I enjoy making them! When I am not creating with fiber or fabric I keep busy with Dear Heart, kids, grandkids, great grandkids.

  1. Congrats on all the stitching time this week. With so much on your to do list, managing 7 days is impressive. Your version of Arabesque is looking gorgeous. Hopefully you have less stuff going on this week.

    1. Hi Kate

Stitching time hasn’t been good this week with DH’s birthday and all the company that meant, Christmas parties and Golf Club issues. I’m happy with what I managed and am looking forward to the time until next year to see what I can manage. Hope you’ve been doing well in your sewing room. 🩷
