Sunday Summary #227

Hello and welcome to my To Do List for the end of the first week in December. It’s been a crazy week with meetings and appointments and a hospital visit for DH, but I kept busy. So much time was spent with my machines a fabric just to keep calm and focused. 😉

My Last To-Do Goals:

I just have to share a photo of my cutting table to show that I have been busy 😆

I had so much fun making and trimming all my bits and pieces and making a mess/burying my cutting table; I’ve got my sewjo on! Xmas is coming 🎄🤶🏻

Now it’s time to see how I did with my goals for the week:

✅ 1. Work on the Pattern Test. There are almost 800 pieces in this beauty! I did get this pattern test finished to flimsy stage. Introducing Seaborne, by Kathryn Mykel of Dragonfly’s Quilt Design Studios, for Northcott Fabrics. I will write a post for the pattern once the patterns are available in shops near you. In the meantime you can check Kathryn’s website HERE for the pattern. The pattern has been showcased in Northcott’s Look Books here. If you’ve ever wanted to do a Storm at Sea, this is a pattern I highly recommend. #seabornequilt #seabornequiltpattern #seabornestormatseapattern.

✅ 2. Keep working on my project for the Christmas Cookie Exchange Blog Hop in December. Carol from Just Let Me Quilt is stepping up to host this one  Yes I got a check mark here as well! I did get it finished and my post written before my deadline. I can say this raggy quilt went to the Christmas Party and I was told a sweet little one picked it out for a gift for her Daddy because he likes to wear plaid shirts! 🎄

✅ 3. Finish the second pattern test. Introducing Arabesque a pattern by Sandra Walker of MMM Quilts. If you hurry you can enter to win a copy of Sandra’s pattern by going to my post HERE to enter and to read about my glaring mistake which I did not notice until I had taken the photo. 🥹. The deadline to enter is midnight tonight. As soon as I finish my meeting this afternoon I’m working on reconstructing the quilt without the errors since I stayed up last night spending time with Jack to unstitching the last 3 rounds. 😁 I had felt silly making mistakes on my test pattern, but as one sweet commenter said “mom always did say that if a mistake is made, it’s because it was made with loving hands”. (Thank you aster🤗)

✅ 4. Keep making some bags for the Christmas Hamper/Dinner event in December from everything I have kitted up. I managed to get 2 bags finished and with my raggy quilt had to call it good for this year. I did sort through my bins and found three other quilts to donate.

5. Finish the quilt top using the leftover bits of blocks I have from Denise’s Treasure boxes she sent of goodies; leftovers and fabric pieces. No progress 😢

6. Finish making my quilt top from my crumb blocks and leftover panel blocks. No progress 😢

7. Finish the blocks for the quilt for C’s friend in Nova Scotia. No progress 😢

8. Get the needlepoint stitched so I can decide how to finish it. No progress 😢

So close to a finish; the accent stitches need to be done. 😁

9. Finish more blocks for the memory quilts No progress 😢

10. If I finish any of the above projects I will start another of the projects from my project bins. No progress

✅ 11. Keep Samantha and her squirrel buddies from distracting me again or sidetracking me from my list. 🐿️🐿️🐿️. There was absolutely no possible way for me to be distracted even though though Sam tried! 😉

This Week’s goals:

It should be another good week for me on my stitching time. I only have 2 meetings and DH only has one appointment!

1. Finish reconstructing my version of Arabesque

2. Finish the quilt top using the leftover bits of blocks I have from Denise’s Treasure boxes she sent of goodies; leftovers and fabric pieces.

3. Finish making my quilt top from my crumb blocks and leftover panel blocks.

4. Finish the blocks for the quilt for C’s friend in Nova Scotia.

5. Get the needlepoint stitched so I can decide how to finish it.

6. Finish more blocks for the memory quilts

7. If I finish any of the above projects I will start another of the projects from my project bins.

8. Keep Samantha and her squirrel buddies from distracting me again or sidetracking me from my list. 🐿️🐿️🐿️🐿️🐿️

Stitchin’ Time

Kate from Life in Pieces hosts a weekly linky party to help us keep to our goals of stitching every day!

I’m trying for at least 30 minutes a day this year and 1 hour at the end of the week to tidy up and deal with my scraps. 🤔

  • January 4/31
  • February 2/28
  • March 10/31
  • April 12/30
  • May 29/31
  • June 28/30
  • July 31/31
  • August 30/30
  • September 26/30
  • October 25/31
  • November 25/30
  • December 6/6
  • this week 7/7
  • Previous Total: 228/339
  • Total: 235/346
  • Percentage = 67.92 %

I might even get my stitching time back up to 70% by year end! 🤣. I hope you all get to set and keep your goals for your Stitching Time and join Kate. 😁

Stash Report

I like to link with Donna @ QuiltPaintCreate to keep track of fabric in and out of my stash. If I can plan trips to the studio I expect my stash to be reduced terrifically when I start making backings for all of the quilt tops I’ve got to do. 🤩

  • Fabric Used: 28 yards
  • Fabric Purchased this week: 0 yards
  • Fabric Previous Balance: 15 yards
  • Fabric Purchased this year: 9 yards
  • Balance in stash to use this year: 8 yards

* my goal is to lessen my stash by 200 50 yards this year but realistically I’ll be happy with whatever I manage. I’m lessening my goal since I’ve been using mostly scraps, leftover bits and donated treasures and since I’ll not be getting to use my longarm my backing fabric usage will be minimal.😉

* any fabric used from the scrap bins, was gifted or a prize; doesn’t count as stash!

Memories of Quilts From the Past

Violet Links was made from a pattern, “Sunset Strips” by Sandra Walker of MMM Quilts and the pattern is available here

Design Wall Mondays

Judy, at Small Quilts and Doll Quilts, hosts a linky party for “Design Wall Mondays” every week.

I’m including some photos of my current WIPs;

My UFO and WIP List

Last but not least I have to update my UFO Speadsheet and then try keeping it up to date and so help with my accountability now that I have gone through everything in my storage room and sewing space. I think I’ve given up on getting this updated. I might just wait and start fresh next year. 🫤.

I use the spreadsheet that Quilting Gail shared several years ago, but I do need to update it!

This week I’ll even manage to link up with our To-Do Tuesday and the other parties I enjoy.

In closing I’d like to thank you for visiting, for joining the To Do Tuesday linky party, for sharing the party link, and above all for being part of my quilting world. 🤗 Carol

I have been fondling fabric and creating things with fabric and fiber for as long as I can remember. My children had homemade clothes, blankets, canning and quilts most of their lives. Now I create goodies to share! Hope you enjoy viewing them as much as I enjoy making them! When I am not creating with fiber or fabric I keep busy with Dear Heart, kids, grandkids, great grandkids.
