I like Thursday

It has been a long time since I’ve managed to write an “I Like” post which is a fun chance to concentrate on things that bring you joy and forget about ignore real world events for a few minutes.

I like the fact that it’s fall and the trees and weather are starting to change. Here in my valley it’s supposed to rain all long weekend (much better than snow😉) which should give me some time to finally get my winter prep done.

The sun is shining giving us a perfect day on the golf course. you can just see the trees changing colour. They are late this year. 😆

I’ve made the time to unpack my winter clothes and put the summer wardrobe away. I’m lucky to have a friend who knits and had a change in her size so I inherited a couple of gorgeous cuddly sweaters (we also share a love of purple) from her made with some incredibly soft wool that doesn’t make me itchy; just warm and cosy. 😍

As you know my husband has MS. I like the fact he can still get out most days for some golf; some days only two holes, but once in a while he can manage 9. If the weather holds he will be out with his toque and gloves on. next time he does I’ll get a photo since he does look so cute all bundled up.

I usually try to go visit my son, daughter in love and granddaughters in the fall to help with canning. Unfortunately DH can no longer travel and I can’t leave him for more than a couple of hours. So this year my daughter in law has a couple of friends helping her.

Her pickled carrots are made with carrots from her garden and all of the canning is done on the wood stove in the summer kitchen.

Teaching my daughter in law and granddaughters how to can is one of my favourite memories and the days spent with them in the camp kitchen; canning, pickling and sharing stories and laughter is a perfect way to start our October.

Can’t you just feel how cozy it is with the wood stove burning and the smells of the canning and slow roasting garlic in the warming oven?

I like that the summer is finally winding down and I will have more time for creative endeavors. I was feeling deprived last week so I got intensive and created a spot to sew while I was volunteering at the golf course.

I like finally being able to make time to share my I like posts with a lovely group on LeeAnna’s blog Not Afraid of Color.

Check out the other bloggers who share their I Like posts. You can pop over to LeeAnna’s site to see the list.

I hope you are all having a great week. Thank you for visiting. Happy Thanksgiving to my Canadian friends and family. 🍗🥧

I have been fondling fabric and creating things with fabric and fiber for as long as I can remember. My children had homemade clothes, blankets, canning and quilts most of their lives. Now I create goodies to share! Hope you enjoy viewing them as much as I enjoy making them! When I am not creating with fiber or fabric I keep busy with Dear Heart, kids, grandkids, great grandkids.

  1. I love your improvised sewing station! As for sweaters, I’m not ready to go there yet. It’s still beautiful weather here, low 20s all of next week and lots of sunshine, so I’ll keep my Capri pants and shorts going for a while yet. Fall is a beautiful time in Canada’s southernmost town 😉 Happy Thanksgiving!

    1. Hi Sandra. It’s so nice to hear you’ve been enjoying capri weather still. We’ve got rain and it’s getting frosty at night, but it’s getting pretty. We even have some pretty maple trees here in various spots in our valley and I love the reds. Happy Thanksgiving my friend. 🦃🤗
