Sunday Summary #216

It’s the time of year where my time is taken up by the golf course several days a week. Staff in the Pro Shop have gone back to school or need vacation time so I’m back to putting in 4-12 hours a day seven days a week as a volunteer. Luckily Board and Committee meetings are only 4 or 5 a month now so I will still manage to get some stitching done in the evening after I’ve finished bookkeeping and paperwork.

My Last To-Do Goals:

1. Keep making some bags for the Christmas Hamper/Dinner event in December from everything I have kitted up. I have 8 bags cut out and ready for stitching. 😁

2. Keep hand stitching in the evening doing my EPP and the needlepoint kit. I’m on my last colour of floss on the dragonfly piece. 😁

3. Finish making my quilt top from my crumb blocks and leftover panel blocks. No progress 😢

4. Keep working to empty my project bins. Haven’t started anything else new this week 😁

5. Keep making some progress on the memory quilts from all of my family’s t-shirts or clothing. A bit more done on these blocks. I keep thinking I should count how many more need to be finished 🤣

6. Keep stabilizing the quilt tops for Liz’s project. On hold until the golf club closes in late October or November (depending on when the snow flies) 😉

7. Finish the blocks for the quilt for C’s friend in Nova Scotia which will also use up some of the bits from my stack of project bins when I find the fabrics in my storage room bins. Still haven’t found the fabrics, but I only have 2 more bins to check! 😉

8. Keep playing with the blocks I’ve made from Denise’s donated bits in one of her many Treasure boxes she sent of goodies! Oh those squirrels! After piecing the signature blocks, I changed my design plan. Can you believe I’ve decided on another classic block design?

9. Keep Samantha and her buddies from distracting me or coercing me to start anything else new. 🐿️🐿️🐿️🐿️

This Week’s goals:

Now it’s time to set my goals for the week.

2. Keep hand stitching in the evening doing my EPP and the needlepoint kit.

3. Finish making my quilt top from my crumb blocks and leftover panel blocks.

4. Keep working to empty my project bins.

7. Keep playing with the blocks I’ve made from Denise’s donated bits in one of her many Treasure boxes she sent of goodies now that I’ve changed my plan. Next up Economy Blocks in 2 sizes! Can you guess what I’m planning? 😉

8. Keep Samantha and her buddies from distracting me or coercing me to start anything else new.

Stitchin’ Time

Kate from Life in Pieces hosts a weekly linky party to help us keep to our goals of stitching every day. I just love her new logo!

I’m trying for at least 30 minutes a day this year and 1 hour at the end of the week to tidy up and deal with my scraps. 🤔

  • January 4/31
  • February 2/28
  • March 10/31
  • April 12/30
  • May 29/31
  • June 28/30
  • July 31/31

Another good week getting my stitching time in! I hope you all get to set and keep your goals for your Stitching Time and join Kate. 😁

Stash Report

I like to link with Donna @ QuiltPaintCreate to keep track of fabric in and out of my stash. If I can plan trips to the studio I expect my stash to be reduced terrifically when I start making backings for all of the quilt tops I’ve got to do. 🤩

  • Fabric Used: 0 yards
  • Fabric Purchased this week: 0 yards
  • Fabric Previous Balance: 15 yards
  • Fabric Purchased this year: 9 yards
  • Balance in stash to use this year: 90 yards

* my goal is to lessen my stash by 200 100 yards (I’ve adjusted my goal since it is almost September and I can no longer visit the studio) this year but realistically I’ll be happy with whatever I manage. 😉

* any fabric used from the scrap bins, was gifted or a prize; doesn’t count as stash!

Memories of Quilts From the Past

I loved making this quilt, but was hand sewing binding before I noticed my mistake. I couldn’t unstitch it so t was left and called a design feature. Can you see the error? 🫤

Design Wall Mondays

Judy, at Small Quilts and Doll Quilts, hosts a linky party for “Design Wall Mondays” every week.

I’m including some photos of my current WIPs;

My UFO and WIP List

Last but not least I have to update my UFO Speadsheet and then try keeping it up to date and so help with my accountability now that I have gone through everything in my storage room and sewing space. I’ve pulled my lists of projects in my bins and have started to update my list.

I use the spreadsheet that Quilting Gail shared several years ago, but I do need to update it!

This week I’ll even manage to link up with our To-Do Tuesday and the other parties I enjoy.

In closing I’d like to thank you for visiting, for joining the To Do Tuesday linky party, for sharing the party link, and above all for being part of my quilting world. 🤗 Carol

PS. Thank you if you bought me a coffee. I do appreciate your support.

Another favourite oldie; made from donated leftovers from Denise, my scrap bins and some fabrics from my stash. 😁

I have been fondling fabric and creating things with fabric and fiber for as long as I can remember. My children had homemade clothes, blankets, canning and quilts most of their lives. Now I create goodies to share! Hope you enjoy viewing them as much as I enjoy making them! When I am not creating with fiber or fabric I keep busy with Dear Heart, kids, grandkids, great grandkids.

  1. Your dragonfly project is coming along so nicely and the EPP flower displayed matches it! I love the handquilting on #6! Your whale (?) is beautiful! Did you draw out the pattern? Impressive! You are an artist – changing designs is part of how you work, right? Those blocks are lovely, though. Happy stitching and designing! 🙂

    1. Thank you for your sweet comment. I did just go with the flow for the whale. I do enjoy drawing once in a while so I’m glad I did a recognizable drawing 🤣. I do often change up patterns but also enjoy doing someone else’s pattern from start to finish. My changes are usually because of the amount of fabric I have to work with. I’m just about finished the Dragonfly and have really enjoyed the handwork. 🤗
