Sunday Summary #210

We had another week with warm temperatures during the day and unusually low temperatures at night. It wasn’t scorching hot so DH managed to play some golf a few days. I had a few things to do at both the Guild and the Golf Club, but I managed stitching time every day. It’s easy to do when you just don’t want to be outside. 😁

It’s now Thursday evening and I just realized my post wasn’t published. Can you believe I put the wrong date on it when I scheduled it? 🫤

My Last To-Do Goals:

  1. Melva Loves Scraps is hosting this fun hop. I’m in!  My post went live and you can read about it here. ✅

2. Keep working on my hand stitching since slow stitching is so relaxing. I’ve been hand stitching every day so I’m claiming a check mark!

3. Continue working with the blocks for the memory quilts for my son, granddaughters and Clarke’s family from a collection of T-shirts from my son, DIL and granddaughters and our Clarke’s clothing. All I can do is determine layouts and cut sashing strips until my machine comes home. Still no Rogers’s since I need to use a walking foot as I’m doing a QAYG method on these blocks. 😢

4. Keep playing with the orphan blocks and goodies from Denise, with some additions from my stash, to use up more bits and pieces until those project boxes are empty. No progress since I was working on my BlogHop project. 😢

5. Finish making the quilt top from my crumb pieces and a leftover bit from a panel. Again no progress as I was working on my blog hop project and hand stitching. 😢

6. Make some time to make progress on Gail from Quilting Gail’s Mystery QAL since it finished a while ago.. I did make a bit of progress, doing this as Leader Ender 😁

7. Continue fixing popped seams and stay stitching the edges of the next bin of quilt tops for Liz’s project. I’ve got one more flimsy almost stabilized. 😁

8. Do not let Samantha or any of her squirrel buddies side track me.  🐿️🐿️🐿️ ✅

This Week’s goals:

So far it looks like a quiet week with no meetings or appointments scheduled. That means I can just stay home and stitch! I must say that I am really loving using my Featherweight. It is such a sweet sounding machine and has lovely stitches. It’s become my favourite for piecing, but I still miss my other machines for doing my quilting with my walking foot.

1. Finish the first of my sling bags so I can make some more along with some tote bags for the Christmas Hamper/Dinner event in December.

2. Keep hand stitching in the evening and get adventurous enough to try this sweet little project:

If I like it, I’m considering doing a cross stitch project next!

3. Try to get this project to the flimsy stage.

4. Finish making my quilt top from my crumb blocks and leftover panel blocks.

5. Keep working to empty my project bins.

6. If I get one of my machines back I’d like to make some progress on the memory quilts from all of my family’s t-shirts or clothing.

7. Keep stabilizing the quilt tops for Liz’s project.

One more on my sewing table 😊

8. Keep Samantha and her buddies from distracting me or coercing me to start anything new until I get my list whittled down. 🐿️🐿️🐿️🐿️

Stitchin’ Time

Kate from Life in Pieces hosts a weekly linky party to help us keep to our goals of stitching every day. I just love her new logo!

I’m trying for at least 30 minutes a day this year and 1 hour at the end of the week to tidy up and deal with my scraps. 🤔

  • January 4/31
  • February 2/28
  • March 10/31
  • April 12/30
  • May 29/31
  • June 28/30
  • July 26/26
  • this week 7/7
  • Previous Total: 105/200
  • Total: 112/207
  • Percentage = 54.11 %

I hope you all get to set and keep your goals for your Stitching Time and join Kate. 😁

Stash Report

I like to link with Donna @ QuiltPaintCreate to keep track of fabric in and out of my stash. If I can plan trips to the studio I expect my stash to be reduced terrifically when I start making backings for all of the quilt tops I’ve got to do. 🤩

  • Fabric Used: 0 yards
  • Fabric Purchased this week: 0 yards
  • Fabric Previous Balance: 15 yards
  • Fabric Purchased this year: 9 yards
  • Balance in stash to use this year: 186 yards

* my goal is to lessen my stash by 200 yards this year. 😉

* any fabric used from the scrap bins, was gifted or a prize; doesn’t count as stash!

Miss C picked out these fabrics and colours for her first big girl quilt when she was 2! I had so much fun making her quilt and cushions. 💕

Design Wall Mondays

Judy, at Small Quilts and Doll Quilts, hosts a linky party for “Design Wall Mondays” every week.

I’m including some photos of my current WIPs;

My UFO and WIP List

Last but not least I have to update my UFO Speadsheet and then try keeping it up to date and so help with my accountability now that I have gone through everything in my storage room and sewing space. I’ve not made any progress on this, but

. 😅

I use the spreadsheet that Quilting Gail shared several years ago, but I do need to update it!

This week I’ll even manage to link up with our To-Do Tuesday and the other parties I enjoy.

Our friend Gail from Quilting Gail shared this and I needed to share the giggles. 😁

In closing I’d like to thank you for visiting, for joining the To Do Tuesday linky party, for sharing the party link, and above all for being part of my quilting world. 🤗 Carol

I have been fondling fabric and creating things with fabric and fiber for as long as I can remember. My children had homemade clothes, blankets, canning and quilts most of their lives. Now I create goodies to share! Hope you enjoy viewing them as much as I enjoy making them! When I am not creating with fiber or fabric I keep busy with Dear Heart, kids, grandkids, great grandkids.

  1. You’ve been doing so well at getting in your sewing time this summer. This week sounds like another good one on the stitching front. Fingers crossed you get one of your machines back soon. It’s good you have a backup you enjoy using.
