Sunday Summary #208

Hello and welcome to my Sunday Summary and To Do Tuesday List from an extremely hot part of British Columbia. It’s 34 degrees Celsius at 7:00 at night here on Sunday evening as I’m writing this. 🌡️ 🥵. Can you believe it was so hot I forgot to publish my post? 🤣

My Last To-Do Goals:

It has been a week of hot weather so staying inside and stitching was just fine with me. Poor DH has to go out at 6:00 am if he wants to play one or two holes of golf!

I’m playing with my Featherweight to learn to use it finally. My one machine is still at my friend’s since she had a deadline (month end) and her machine had broken down. I have a machine that had to go for its regular service and the Janome that went clunk. My favourite machine is at the studio, (the table and machine are too big for our little apartment) and I am not able to leave DH for any length of time now.

I do have 2 quilting days at the Guild this week so I should have some progress photos to share soon. 🤞🏻

1. Keep working on my hand stitching since slow stitching is so relaxing. I’m making progress. 2 of the panels are made. 5 or 6 more to go! I’ve got all of the pieces of fabric cut. Once I’ve got a machine sorted out I’ll be good to go! 😁

2. Continue working with the blocks for the memory quilts for my son, granddaughters and Clarke’s family from a collection of T-shirts from my son, DIL and granddaughters and our Clarke’s clothing. All I can do is determine layouts and cut sashing strips until my machine comes home. Sashing strips are cut. 😁

3. Keep playing with the orphan blocks and goodies from Denise, with some additions from my stash, to use up more bits and pieces until those project boxes are empty. I’ve reviewed the contents and have patterns or written notes on each project! 😁

4. Finish making the quilt top from my crumb pieces and a leftover bit from a panel if I can get a machine working? Maybe my Featherweight? Soon I hope 😢

5. Make some time to make progress on Gail from Quilting Gail’s Mystery QAL since it finished a while ago.. No progress 😢

6. Continue fixing popped seams and stay stitching the edges of the next bin of quilt tops for Liz’s project. I’ll sort the tops to see which need a lot of work and which just need a bit. No progress 😁

7. Do not let Samantha or any of her squirrel buddies side track me🐿🐿🐿🐿. Success!

This Week’s goals:

  1. I forgot to add this to my list last week! I need to get busy since it’s coming soon to some sites near us all!
Melva Loves Scraps is hosting this fun hop. I’m in! 😁

2. Keep working on my hand stitching since slow stitching is so relaxing.

3. Continue working with the blocks for the memory quilts for my son, granddaughters and Clarke’s family from a collection of T-shirts from my son, DIL and granddaughters and our Clarke’s clothing. All I can do is determine layouts and cut sashing strips until my machine comes home.

4. Keep playing with the orphan blocks and goodies from Denise, with some additions from my stash, to use up more bits and pieces until those project boxes are empty. I’ll review the contents of the boxes and see what I need to finish emptying these boxes.

5. Finish making the quilt top from my crumb pieces and a leftover bit from a panel if I can get a machine working? Maybe my Featherweight?

Stitchin’ Time

Kate from Life in Pieces hosts a weekly linky party to help us keep to our goals of stitching every day. I just love her new logo!

I’m trying for at least 30 minutes a day this year and 1 hour at the end of the week to tidy up and deal with my scraps. 🤔

  • January 4/31
  • February 2/28
  • March 10/31
  • April 12/30
  • May 29/31
  • June 28/30
  • July 12/12
  • this week 7/7
  • Previous Total: 91/186
  • Total: 98/193
  • Percentage = 50.78 %

I hope you all get to set and keep your goals for your Stitching Time and join Kate. 😁

Stash Report

I like to link with Donna @ QuiltPaintCreate to keep track of fabric in and out of my stash. If I can plan trips to the studio I expect my stash to be reduced terrifically when I start making backings for all of the quilt tops I’ve got to do. 🤩

  • Fabric Used: 0 yards
  • Fabric Purchased this week: 0 yards
  • Fabric Previous Balance: 15 yards
  • Fabric Purchased this year: 9 yards
  • Balance in stash to use this year: 186 yards

* my goal is to lessen my stash by 200 yards this year. 😉

* any fabric used from the scrap bins, was gifted or a prize; doesn’t count as stash!

Another fun quilt that was gifted to a friend, the main person in our support group as my DH’s condition progresses 🥹

Design Wall Mondays

Judy, at Small Quilts and Doll Quilts, hosts a linky party for “Design Wall Mondays” every week.

I’m including some photos of my current WIPs;

My UFO and WIP List

Last but not least I have to update my UFO Speadsheet and then try keeping it up to date and so help with my accountability now that I have gone through everything in my storage room and sewing space. I’ve not made any progress on this since computer time is limited to reading blogs, checking emails and doing never ending paperwork for the two Societies I help with. 😅

I use the spreadsheet that Quilting Gail shared several years ago, but I do need to update it!

This week I’ll even manage to link up with our To-Do Tuesday and the other parties I enjoy.

Some days are just like this! 🥴

In closing I’d like to thank you for visiting, for joining the To Do Tuesday linky party, for sharing the party link, and above all for being part of my quilting world. 🤗 Carol

I have been fondling fabric and creating things with fabric and fiber for as long as I can remember. My children had homemade clothes, blankets, canning and quilts most of their lives. Now I create goodies to share! Hope you enjoy viewing them as much as I enjoy making them! When I am not creating with fiber or fabric I keep busy with Dear Heart, kids, grandkids, great grandkids.

  1. Spending time in the sewing room is the best way to beat the heat. Fingers crossed you hear good news about the sewing machine in the shop. You are still getting lots done. Happy stitching this week.

    1. Thank you Kate. Still no news on the machines but I’m still having fun and we’ve had some wonderful cooler, rainy days. Hope you’ve had a good week with Family and your stitching time. 🤗
