Sunday Summary #205

Hello and welcome to my Sunday Summary and To Do Tuesday List.

Life last week slowed down a bit and I was able to enjoy more stitching time and even managed to get caught up a bit on my computer fun, reading and commenting on blogs and replying to emails.

It also rained a few days so I was happy to stay in and stitch. Once it’s finished raining I’ll try to take some photos on my walk. We have just about finished installing a Disc Golf Course on the unused portions of our golf course so we are looking forward to seeing a whole new demographic enjoying our little treasure here in our valley.

It was another fun week, making some progress and having fabric fun time. I was even able to spend time at my Guild and was happy to see my friend who had shattered her leg out and about in her wheelchair. We had some giggles over her trying to run her machine with her left foot and decided being right handed also includes being right footed! For now she is going to stick with handwork; embroidery and cross stitch will fit the bill.

My Last To-Do Goals:

1. Keep working on my EPP, embroidery and embroidery sampler. I’ve been playing with my hexies and have a project in mind to use these beauties 😁

2. Continue playing at getting the blocks quilted for the memory quilts for my son, granddaughters and Clarke’s family from a collection of T-shirts from my son, DIL and granddaughters and our Clarke’s clothing. Still haven’t finished this bag of blocks but I’ve made progress. 😁

3. Keep playing with the orphan blocks and goodies from Denise, with some additions from my stash, to use up more bits and pieces until those project boxes are empty. I’ve got a few things organized and changed my plans but any progress is good! 😁

4. Finish making the blocks from my crumb pieces.

5. Get busy working on Gail from Quilting Gail’s Mystery QAL since it finished a while ago.. 🤩 No progress on this one this week. 😢

6. Continue fixing popped seams and stay stitching the edges of the next bin of quilt tops for Liz’s project. No progress this week 😢

7. Do not let Samantha or any of her squirrel buddies side track me🐿🐿🐿🐿. Success! I kept myself on track this week and managed to avoid Samantha’s coaxing to give in to temptation with all of the beautiful projects everyone has been sharing. 😉

This Week’s goals:

Just look at how short my list is getting to be since I’m behaving and not starting anything new. 😉

This week might not be as good with stitching time as I’m taking DH to an appointment with his doctors. He has decided it’s time to get the MAiD paperwork in order before his condition worsens. I thought I was prepared for this step in the procedure, but I’m really having an issue with it so I might be slow responding to comments or emails.

1. Keep working on my hand stitching since slow stitching is so relaxing.

2. Continue working with the blocks for the memory quilts for my son, granddaughters and Clarke’s family from a collection of T-shirts from my son, DIL and granddaughters and our Clarke’s clothing.

3. Keep playing with the orphan blocks and goodies from Denise, with some additions from my stash, to use up more bits and pieces until those project boxes are empty.

4. Finish making the quilt top from my crumb pieces and a leftover bit from a panel.

5. Make some time to make progress on Gail from Quilting Gail’s Mystery QAL since it finished a while ago..

6. Continue fixing popped seams and stay stitching the edges of the next bin of quilt tops for Liz’s project.

7. Do not let Samantha or any of her squirrel buddies side track me🐿🐿🐿🐿.

Stitchin’ Time

Kate from Life in Pieces hosts a weekly linky party to help us keep to our goals of stitching every day. I just love her new logo!

I’m trying for at least 30 minutes a day this year and 1 hour at the end of the week to tidy up and deal with my scraps. I wasn’t really off to a good start, but it is getting better as things settle down in my real life and commitments lessen. 🤔

  • January 4/31
  • February 2/28
  • March 10/31
  • April 12/30
  • May 29/31
  • June 21/21
  • this week 7/7
  • Previous Total: 71/165
  • Total: 78/172
  • Percentage = 45.35 %

I hope you all get to set and keep your goals for your Stitching Time and join Kate. 😁

Stash Report

I like to link with Donna @ QuiltPaintCreate to keep track of fabric in and out of my stash. If I can plan trips to the studio I expect my stash to be reduced terrifically when I start making backings for all of the quilt tops I’ve got to do. 🤩

  • Fabric Used: 0 yards
  • Fabric Purchased this week: 0 yards
  • Fabric Previous Balance: 15 yards
  • Fabric Purchased this year: 9 yards
  • Balance in stash to use this year: 186 yards

* my goal is to lessen my stash by 200 yards this year. 😉

* any fabric used from the scrap bins, was gifted or a prize; doesn’t count as stash!

I miss playing on my long arm but am enjoying looking at photos of favourite finishes!

Design Wall Mondays

Judy, at Small Quilts and Doll Quilts, hosts a linky party for “Design Wall Mondays” every week.

I’m including some photos of my current WIPs;

My UFO and WIP List

Last but not least I have to update my UFO Speadsheet and then try keeping it up to date and so help with my accountability now that I have gone through everything in my storage room and sewing space. I’ve made some progress but still haven’t finished updating my list with my newly discovered/forgotten WIPs from my storage room bins and boxes. 😅

I use the spreadsheet that Quilting Gail shared several years ago, but I do need to update it!

This week I’ll even manage to link up with our To-Do Tuesday and the other parties I enjoy.

We all need this t-shirt! 😁

In closing I’d like to thank you for visiting, for joining the To Do Tuesday linky party, for sharing the party link, and above all for being part of my quilting world. 🤗 Carol

I have been fondling fabric and creating things with fabric and fiber for as long as I can remember. My children had homemade clothes, blankets, canning and quilts most of their lives. Now I create goodies to share! Hope you enjoy viewing them as much as I enjoy making them! When I am not creating with fiber or fabric I keep busy with Dear Heart, kids, grandkids, great grandkids.

  1. Your contrasting hexies are so lovely!  The lighter fabric is so pretty and complements the brown fabric wonderfully!  I’ve been pondering play with my 30’s scraps to make crumb blocks.  I’m wondering, do you use a foundation fabric as sometimes done with strip quilts?

    1. Hi Mia. Occasionally I do use a light muslin foundation, but I mostly just go for it free-form. I like to be able to trim from the back if I have belly seams, down to 1/8” in some of the layers. It makes it easier when I’m quilting. I have a few little blocks left from a panel; kids from the 30’s to 50’s playing and I need to use my scraps to make crumb borders, or maybe piano keys. I do like playing with these hexies but they are smaller than I usually use. 😁

  2. You’ve shortened your to do list and are making progress on other projects. So glad to hear you finally got some rain after all the dry weather the area has had. Hopefully everything went well with the doctor appointments. Hopefully there are resources for you as you both work through those really hard decisions.

    1. Thank you Kate. The rain has been welcome. All is taken care of with the first steps in the paperwork. Now we have to deal with more doctors doing assessments and then get a rubber stamp approval through Interior Health. It’s good it is a complicated procedure, but it sure can be stressful. As for resources, we have several dear friends who have been amazing supports. 🤗
