Sunday Summary #197

Hello and welcome to my Sunday Summary and To Do Tuesday List. As you can see it’s Tuesday but I finally managed to finish my list and post.

My Last To-Do Goals:

It’s been another fun filled week with several meetings, appointments with our lawyer and doctors. The good news is I had 2 quilting days booked at the Guild. Thursday, however, wound up being cancelled due to a snow storm and a power outage until mid afternoon, but I did manage to spend time re-folding fabric, filing patterns, and sorting projects. I also had my checkup at the eye surgeon’s office on Friday and can happily report my distance vision is now back to 20/20. 😁

1. Keep working on my EPP, embroidery and embroidery sampler as time and my eyesight allow. I can see now so I should have re-organized my hand stitching projects and set up a new light by my chair! 😉

2. Finish the pattern test. This is now a priority. Still no progress.

3. I need to get myself organized because Gail from Quilting Gail and some of my other favourite on line friends are almost finished their projects on the SAHRR 2025. Sadly I am going to remove this from my To-Do List. I have to be realistic and admit that I’m not going to participate until next year. 😢

4. Continue plugging away at the memory quilts for my son, granddaughters and Clarke’s family from a collection of T-shirts from my son, DIL, granddaughters and our Clarke’s clothing. At my day of fun at the Guild I managed to work on some blocks, and reverse quilted the one top I had done. I decided I just wasn’t happy with how it was going. Funny how that can happen when you can see! 😉

5. Keep playing with the orphan blocks and goodies from Denise, with some additions from my stash, to use up more bits and pieces until those project boxes are empty. No progress. 😭

6. Finish making the test block from my crumb blocks to see if my design idea will work as I had planned. No progress 😢

7. Get caught up with Gail from Quilting Gail’s Mystery QAL since it’s finished a while ago.. No progress, but I’m keeping it on my list since the fabric is cut and I am in love with the palette. 😁

8. I have to remake it since I have to deliver a finished green quilt soon.  Fabrics are pulled. 😁

This little quilt needs to be 48” x 84” when it’s done. Decisions need to be made how to add more borders! 🤔

9. Assemble these blocks to a flimsy and decide on adding borders at that time. I played with the layout a bit more since it just wasn’t quite right once I could see how many same fabrics were side by side. It’s ready to be sewn again.😢

10. Do not let Samantha or any of her squirrel buddies side track me🐿🐿🐿🐿. No check mark since Samantha reminded me that one of my Guildmates had mentioned a project she wanted to organize and needed help with it. 😉

This Week’s goals:

Now it’s time for my new To Do Tuesday List:

1. Keep working on my EPP, embroidery and embroidery sampler now that I can see and everything is tidy and organized again. .

2. Finish the pattern test. This is now a priority.

3. Continue plugging away at the memory quilts for my son, granddaughters and Clarke’s family from a collection of T-shirts from my son, DIL and granddaughters and our Clarke’s clothing.😁

4. Keep playing with the orphan blocks and goodies from Denise, with some additions from my stash, to use up more bits and pieces until those project boxes are empty.

5. Finish making the test block from my crumb blocks to see if my design idea will work as I had planned.

6. Get caught up with Gail from Quilting Gail’s Mystery QAL since it finished a while ago.. 🤩

7. Get started on re-making this flimsy or another pattern I just came across 🤣 since I do have to deliver a green quilt to our Treasurer at the Guild who is retiring next month and has been training me to do the job. 😭

This little quilt needs to be 48” x 84” 🤔

8. Assemble the flimsy from these blocks and decide on adding borders once it is assembled.

9. One of the members of our Guild had inherited a dear friend’s collection of quilt tops that she had made. Some of the fabrics were hand dyed by her friend and they had spent hours and hours together while stitching happened. All together there are over 200 flimsies. The edge blocks are starting to come apart and the edges hadn’t been stay stitched. Liz, my dear friend has decided she wants to hold a show and silent auction of a hundred or so of the tops to raise money for her local museum (as well as donating some tops), for our Guild and our local Rail Trail organizations. It’s a very ambitious project and Liz is 92 years old so several of us have stepped up to help her. I’m looking forward to sharing some photos of these amazing quilts.

10. Do not let Samantha or any of her squirrel buddies side track me🐿🐿🐿🐿.

Stitchin’ Time

Kate from Life in Pieces hosts a weekly linky party to help us keep to our goals of stitching every day. I just love her new logo!

I’m trying for at least 30 minutes a day this year and 1 hour at the end of the week to tidy up and deal with my scraps. I wasn’t really off to a good start, but it is getting better as things settle down in my real life time and commitments lessen. 🤔

  • January 4/31
  • February 2/28
  • March 0/22
  • this week 3/7
  • Previous Total 6/74
  • Total: 9/81
  • Percentage = 11.11 %

Oh look! I finally made it to double digit numbers! 😉 I hope you all get to set and keep your goals for your Stitching Time and join Kate. 😁

Stash Report

I like to link with Donna @ QuiltPaintCreate to keep track of fabric in and out of my stash. If I can plan trips to the studio I expect my stash to be reduced terrifically when I start making backings for all of the quilt tops I’ve got to do. 😁

  • Fabric Used: 0 yards
  • Fabric Purchased this week: 0 yards
  • Fabric Previous Balance: 12 yards
  • Fabric Purchased this year: 0 yards
  • Balance in stash to use this year: 188 yards

* my goal is to lessen my stash by 200 yards this year. My goal this year is to use 200 yards of fabric from my stash. 😉

* any fabric used from the scrap bins, was gifted or a prize; doesn’t count as stash!

Design Wall Mondays

Judy, at Small Quilts and Doll Quilts, hosts a linky party for “Design Wall Mondays” every week.

I’m including some photos of my current WIPs;

My UFO and WIP List

Last but not least I have to update my UFO Speadsheet and then try keeping it up to date and so help with my accountability now that I have gone through everything in my storage room and sewing space.

I use the spreadsheet that Quilting Gail shared several years ago, but I do need to update it!

In closing I’d like to thank you for visiting, for joining the To Do Tuesday linky party, for sharing the party link, and above all for being part of my quilting world. 🤗 Carol

I have been fondling fabric and creating things with fabric and fiber for as long as I can remember. My children had homemade clothes, blankets, canning and quilts most of their lives. Now I create goodies to share! Hope you enjoy viewing them as much as I enjoy making them! When I am not creating with fiber or fabric I keep busy with Dear Heart, kids, grandkids, great grandkids.

  1. Hi Carol. I just wanted to pop in and tell you how much I love and appreciate your blog. For some reason, I have not been able to leave a comment on your blog since I have changed computers last month though it will let me link up for the link parties. I am not sure why that is. I am so glad that you received a good report on your vision. It sounds like you have been staying very busy with lots of pretty projects in the works. Thank you again for sharing your lovely blog and for all of the hard work you do. Warm hugs. Melisa – Pinker n’ Punkin Quilting

  2. I love your posts and how much you share with us. I have to work again on cleaning off my desk. I do have my patterns all in my folder now. That in itself is a miracle.

  3. So glad you’ve been able to get back to some stitching with your “new” eyes. The project to move along those quilt tops sounds like fun, but a lot of work. If I’m not careful my poor girl may be faced with something similar in the distant (hopefully) future if I don’t start finishing up some quilts.

  4. I’m so happy you are able to work on your slow stitching projects!  That first top looks so cute!  I organized my project bags and am also working on emptying them!  We can do this!  I spy at least one empty project box!  😊You have quite a list going!  Take good care!

    1. Thank you Mia. Isn’t it nice to get organized so we can start again. As I cleaned out my storage room I found a few more UFOs so that project box is no longer empty 😳
Hope you’ve had a wonderful week!
