Sunday Summary #190

Hello and welcome to my Sunday Summary and To Do Tuesday List.

Once again I missed writing my To Do List last week. It’s been hectic and busy for the past two weeks.

My DH had his cataract surgery on Dec.24 and we have had issues since then. Poor man hasn’t adjusted very well to having great sight in one eye. His balance is off and he gets headaches. Luckily it will just be two more weeks before he gets his second eye fixed.

Then on Dec.29 D. passed out so I had to make a quick trip to the Okanagan to help her. After hospitals and appointments it was sorted out so on the evening on Dec.31 I headed out to make it home to be with my DH for New Years. I made it to the ferry just as it pulled out. So I waited and waited. Finally managed to get on line and discovered the ferry quit running at 9:00 that night. So I had to make a choice; drive back to the Okanagan and go the long way around or sit and wait 🤔. I discovered my car isn’t great if you are trying to sleep for more than 15 minutes. But the ferry started running again at 5:00 so I made it home in time to get the car unloaded and had breakfast made before DH got up.

Then it was the usual round of shopping, get caught up on housework, trips to town for DH’s prescriptions, meetings for the Golf Club and a work day at the Guild.

On Friday I had to be on the road at 5:00 am to get to D’s place to take her to the hospital for an infusion. It was a quick trip there and back. I managed Saturday at home with DH and then headed back to D’s for another infusion on Monday and to be with her on Tuesday for surgery.

My Last To-Do Goals:

1. Keep working on my EPP, embroidery and embroidery sampler as time and my eyesight allow. No progress. 😢

2. Try to finish binding the six now 2 quilts. Done! The footstool is empty until I start filling it up again! 😁

3. Continue plugging away at the memory quilts for my son, granddaughters and Clarke’s family from a collection of T-shirts from my son, DIL and granddaughters and our Clarke’s clothing. No progress these two weeks. 🫣

4. Keep playing with the orphan blocks and goodies from Denise, with some additions from my stash, to use up more bits and pieces until those project boxes are empty. No progress! 😢

5. Finish making the blocks from my crumb blocks now that Monique has handed me another huge bag of brightly coloured scraps. Made some progress stitching these blocks. 😢

6. Continue to work on the commission quilt. Quilted, flanged binding put on, and it left on Saturday to travel to Israel to it’s new home! It actually became my first UFO finished in 2025! 😁

7. Finish the pattern test if I get the next set of instructions. No progress! 😁

8. Get this quilt quilted and bound this week. Binding is complete! UFO #2 for 2025. 😁

9. Get caught up with Gail from Quilting Gail’s Mystery QAL. Made some progress! 😁

10. Start piecing the borders to get this to a finished flimsy. I need to have it quilted and the binding and label on asap. No progress on the piecing yet 😭

This little quilt needs to be 48” x 84” when it’s done. Decisions need to be made how to add more borders! 🤔

11. I need to get myself organized because Gail from Quilting Gail just announced that she and several of my favourite bloggers are going to do what to me signals the start of the year! Yes the SAHRR 2025 will be starting in January! I think I’ve narrowed it down to a choice of two blocks as a starting point, but it will depend on my fabric pull! 😉

12. Do not let Samantha or any of her squirrel buddies side track me🐿🐿🐿🐿. She tried, but didn’t manage to sidetrack me in to starting anything new! 😁

This Week’s goals:

This week looks like it is going to be more manageable with only 3 meetings and one appointment. If all goes well with D’s surgery I’ll be heading home On Thursday.

Now it’s time for my new To Do Tuesday List:

1. Keep working on my EPP, embroidery and embroidery sampler as time and my eyesight allow.

2. Continue plugging away at the memory quilts for my son, granddaughters and Clarke’s family from a collection of T-shirts from my son, DIL and granddaughters and our Clarke’s including the more than 50 more shirts that have arrived! 😁

3. Keep playing with the orphan blocks and goodies from Denise, with some additions from my stash, to use up more bits and pieces until those project boxes are empty.

4. Finish making the blocks from my crumb blocks now that Monique has handed me another huge bag of brightly coloured scraps. 😉

5. Finish the pattern test.

6. Get caught up with Gail from Quilting Gail’s Mystery QAL. 🤩

7. Start piecing the borders to get this to a finished flimsy. I need to have it quilted and the binding and label on as soon as possible. I’m late with this one.🤔

This little quilt needs to be 48” x 84” when it’s done. Decisions need to be made how to add more borders! 🤔

8. I need to get myself organized because Gail from Quilting Gail just announced that she and several of my favourite bloggers are going to do what to me signals the start of the year! Yes the SAHRR 2025 will be starting in January!

Stitchin’ Time

Kate from Life in Pieces hosts a weekly linky party to help us keep to our goals of stitching every day.

I’m trying for at least 30 minutes a day this year and 1 hour at the end of the week to tidy up and deal with my scraps. I wasn’t really off to a good start, but it is getting better as things settle down in my real life time and commitments lessen. 🤔

  • January 4/31
  • these 2 weeks 10/14
  • Previous Total 300/356
  • Total: 4/4
  • Percentage = 100 %

I hope you all get to set and keep your goals for your Stitching Time and join Kate. 😁

Stash Report

I like to link with Donna @ QuiltPaintCreate to keep track of fabric in and out of my stash. If I can plan trips to the studio I expect my stash to be reduced terrifically when I start making backings for all of the quilt tops I’ve got to do. 😁

  • Fabric Used: 12 yards
  • Fabric Purchased this week: 0 yards
  • Fabric Previous Balance: 0 yards
  • Fabric Purchased this year: 0 yards
  • Balance in stash to use this year: 188 yards

* my goal is to lessen my stash by 200 yards this year. My goal this year is to use 200 yards of fabric from my stash. Last year I ended up using 156 yards so I’d like to continue working from my stash. 😉

* any fabric used from the scrap bins, was gifted or a prize; doesn’t count as stash!

Design Wall Mondays

Judy, at Small Quilts and Doll Quilts, hosts a linky party for “Design Wall Mondays” every week.

I’m including some photos of my current WIPs;

Last but not least I have finally updated my UFO Speadsheet and am now going to be keeping it up to date and so help with my accountability.

I use the spreadsheet that Quilting Gail shared several years ago. 😁

In closing I’d like to thank you for visiting, for joining the To Do Tuesday linky party, for sharing the party link, and above all for being part of my quilting world. 🤗 Carol

Enjoy some winter fun!

I have been fondling fabric and creating things with fabric and fiber for as long as I can remember. My children had homemade clothes, blankets, canning and quilts most of their lives. Now I create goodies to share! Hope you enjoy viewing them as much as I enjoy making them! When I am not creating with fiber or fabric I keep busy with Dear Heart, kids, grandkids, great grandkids.

  1. Happy New Year to you! Wow, you really had a challenging holiday season! Wishing your husband and D. comfortable and speedy recoveries. Despite it all, you also really got a lot done — or is it, having all those crafty things to do helped keep your spirits up and your sanity in tact? Here’s hoping that 2025 gives all of us more time, space and grace to tackle all the UFOs in our lives and the irresistible squirrels (like SAHRR for me) to come!
