Sunday Summary #185

It’s Sunday and I finally get to say the snow is starting to fall! I love how clean, bright and quiet it gets here for the first few snowfalls. Then once we have a good base of snow I get to go outside and hear the laughter of the kids having fun tobogganing on the golf course while I do the shovelling!

I can say it was a very productive, fun filled week this week. I attended my meetings, got DH to all of his appointments and had lots of stitching time even though I took Wednesday off from fabric fun. I was up early and went to town to pick up DH’s meds, dropped them off to him and then headed North two hours to the hot springs to visit with my son, DIL and two amazing granddaughters! We got to visit, soak in the hot springs, eat an amazing dinner and play board games with the girls. The youngest had some snuggle time with her dad since they had a new quilt to cuddle up under.

My Last To-Do Goals:

1. Keep working on my EPP, embroidery and embroidery sampler as time and my eyesight allow. No progress. 😢

2. Try to finish binding the seven now five six quilts. I’ve made another error in my count. I found another quilt that needed binding. There are five to finish and one I’ve started. 😃

3. Finish the memory quilts for my son and granddaughters from a collection of T-shirts from my son, DIL and granddaughters and our Clarke’s clothing. I finished the binding on the first of these quilts. It’s in the photo above! 😁

4. Keep playing with the orphan blocks and goodies from Denise, with some additions from my stash, to use up more bits and pieces until those project boxes are empty. No progress! 😢

5. Finish making the blocks from my crumb blocks before Monique hands me another bag of Tula Pink scraps. No progress😢

6. Finish assembling this quilt top. No progress. Still have another row to put together before I can assemble the rows.😢

7. Start on the commission quilt. I’m making progress. Everything is cut and I’ve managed some stitching time on this. 🤣

8. Keep playing on the pattern test. I’m all caught up on this one. Just waiting for the patterns for the next blocks. 😅

9. Start playing on my projects for the next hop being hosted by Joan of Moosestash Quilting. I’ve finished my binding and my post goes live tonight! 😁

10. Start on the project for the final Hop of the year (my all time favourite hop) which is being hosted by Carol from Just Let Me Quilt. Fabric has been cut and I’m sewing in between my other projects. I’ve added a photo of my fabrics. It’s a fun one! 😁

11. Get some progress on our friend Gail from Quilting Gail’s Mystery QAL’s? Just click on her name or the logo below to go seethe details if you’d like to join in! 🤩 I’m working on it but I doubt if I’ll get caught up since it’s almost over but I do enjoy working with Gail’s patterns. 😅

12. I need to decide what to do with this partially finished flimsy. I’ve chosen the borders that I need to piece to finish this flimsy but I haven’t had time to do anything on it. 🤔

This little quilt needs to be 48” x 84” when it’s done. Decisions need to be made how to add more borders! 🤔

13. Do not let Samantha or any of her squirrel buddies side track me🐿🐿🐿🐿 I almost managed to keep Sam under control this week. I’ve been drafted to teach a class on Pojagi quilting at my Guild. 😁

This Week’s goals:

This week is again busy with taking DH to his appointments. I only have to take him to town 2 days and I have 3 Golf Club meetings, but I do have 2 quilting days at my Guild so I should make plenty of progress this week! 😁

Now it’s time for my new To Do Tuesday List:

1. Keep working on my EPP, embroidery and embroidery sampler as time and my eyesight allow.

2. Try to finish binding the six quilts. 🤔

3. Finish the memory quilts for my son, granddaughters and Clarke’s family from a collection of T-shirts from my son, DIL and granddaughters and our Clarke’s clothing.

4. Keep playing with the orphan blocks and goodies from Denise, with some additions from my stash, to use up more bits and pieces until those project boxes are empty.

5. Finish making the blocks from my crumb blocks now that Monique has handed me another huge bag of brightly coloured scraps. 😉

6. Finish assembling this quilt top:

7. Work on the commission quilt.

8. Finish the pattern test if I get the next set of blocks.

9. Keep working on the project for the final Hop of the year (my all time favourite hop) which is being hosted by Carol from Just Let Me Quilt. Start going through my recipes to see which one I’ll share and of course that means I’ll have to test drive the recipe to make sure it’s as good as it used to be! 😉

10. Get caught up with Gail from Quilting Gail’s Mystery QAL. 🤩

11. Start piecing the borders to get this to a finished flimsy. I need to have it quilted and the binding and label on by Dec. 4. 🤔

This little quilt needs to be 48” x 84” when it’s done!decisions need to
decided on the borders I need to piece. 🤔

12. Write a pattern and prep kits for the Pojagi Quilting class I’ll be teaching at my Guild.

13. Do not let Samantha or any of her squirrel buddies side track me🐿🐿🐿🐿.

Stitchin’ Time

Kate from Life in Pieces hosts a weekly linky party to help us keep to our goals of stitching every day.

I’m trying for at least 30 minutes a day this year and 1 hour at the end of the week to tidy up and deal with my scraps. I wasn’t really off to a good start, but it is getting better as things settle down in my real life time and commitments lessen. 🤔

  • January 21/31
  • February 27/29
  • March 27/31
  • April 20/30
  • May 26/31
  • June 22/30
  • July 31/31
  • August 24/31
  • September 30/30
  • October 31/31
  • Nov. 15/16
  • this week 6/7
  • Previous Total 263/314
  • Total: 269/321
  • Percentage = 83.76 %

At this rate, I might get back up to 85 or even 90% by the end of the year! I hope you all get to set and keep your goals for your Stitching Time and join Kate. 😁

Stash Report

I like to link with Donna @ QuiltPaintCreate to keep track of fabric in and out of my stash. If I can plan a trip to the studio I expect my stash to be reduced terrifically when I start making backings for all of the quilt tops I’ve got to do. 😁

  • Fabric Used: 4 yards
  • Fabric Purchased this week: 0 yards
  • Fabric Previous Balance: 1 yards
  • Fabric Purchased this year: 0 yards
  • Balance in stash to use this year: -3 yards

* my goal is to lessen my stash by 100 yards this year. So far I have managed to decrease my stash by 103 yards. 😉

* any fabric used from the scrap bins, was gifted or a prize; doesn’t count as stash!

I have been fondling fabric and creating things with fabric and fiber for as long as I can remember. My children had homemade clothes, blankets, canning and quilts most of their lives. Now I create goodies to share! Hope you enjoy viewing them as much as I enjoy making them! When I am not creating with fiber or fabric I keep busy with Dear Heart, kids, grandkids, great grandkids.

  1. Sounds like a very busy week. So glad you got to visit with your family. Looks like a laid back time. Good luck with this week’s to do list. And way to go on the stitching time. managing over 80% is still a really good year. That’s still a lot of stitching time. Have a wonderful week.
