Sunday Summary #181

Hello and welcome to this week’s edition of my crazy life! This is actually a two week roundup since I forgot to post my To Do Lust last week. It has definitely been a couple of weeks of running. I took DH for his consultation for his cataract surgery and we chose his lenses. Now we get to wait for his surgery date. I’ve been in touch with our optometrist and the surgeon again but still don’t have a date for the consultation for my eye surgery 😳. I also had 5 more training sessions with my staff for the Provincial Election. Between the 12 and 13 I worked 34 out of 48 hours when I added my travel time in. 🤪 Monday was a wash other than posting our Linky Party since I was exhausted and sore from doing over 32,000 steps over the weekend. Tuesday was my birthday.

Such a wonderful surprise from one of my election staff Sunday morning (the 13)! 😃

Wednesday was a town trip for DH’s meds and groceries. Thursday was a much needed day; a whole day at my Guild to sew and visit but no internet or cell service. Friday was training and then Saturday I had a Guild Day, rushed home to have dinner with DH and then head to town to do the count. All I can say is I’m happy the election is over and am waiting for any recounts and the mail in ballots to be counted so we can finally know the results. On Election Night it was too close to call. 🥹

My Last To-Do Goals:

1. Keep working on my EPP, embroidery and embroidery sampler as time and my eyesight allow. No progress. 😢

2. Try to finish binding the seven quilts. I can claim 2 finishes here! 😉

3. Finish the memory quilts for my son and granddaughters from a collection of T-shirts from my son, DIL and granddaughters and our Clarke’s clothing. No progress on these quilts yet 😢

4. Keep playing with the orphan blocks and goodies from Denise, with some additions from my stash, to use up more bits and pieces until those project boxes are empty. No progress! 😢

5. Finish making the blocks from my crumb blocks before Monique hands me another bag of Tula Pink scraps. No progress😢

6. Finish my project for the next hop. Done and posted.😉

7. Start assembling this quilt top. Only 3 more rows to piece and this will be a finished flimsy!😢

8. Start on the commission quilt. Some sewing has begun! 🤣

9. Get organized to do the next pattern test. I have the pattern and fabrics are pulled! Cutting has begun! 😅

10. Start planning for the next (and sadly the last of the blog hops) hosted by Joan of Moosestash Quilting and Carol of Just Let Me Quilt. I’ve got my plans in place and chosen my fabrics. Im just designing my patterns 😁

11. Get some progress on our friend Gail from Quilting Gail’s Mystery QAL’s? Just click on her name or the logo below to go seethe details if you’d like to join in! 🤩 I managed to pull fabrics, but haven’t started yet! I really need to catch up!😅

12. Do not let Samantha or any of her squirrel buddies side track me🐿🐿🐿🐿. I get a check mark here! Try as she might Sam couldn’t side track me from my list! 😉

This Week’s goals:

This week has me doing nothing much but cleaning home, getting ready for the snow that is forecast later this week, helping with a few things at the golf course and enjoying my stitching time!

Now it’s time for my new To Do Tuesday List:

1. Keep working on my EPP, embroidery and embroidery sampler as time and my eyesight allow.

2. Try to finish binding the seven five quilts. 🤔

3. Finish the memory quilts for my son, granddaughters and Clarke’s family from a collection of T-shirts from my son, DIL and granddaughters and our Clarke’s clothing.

4. Keep playing with the orphan blocks and goodies from Denise, with some additions from my stash, to use up more bits and pieces until those project boxes are empty.

5. Finish making the blocks from my crumb blocks before Monique hands me another bag of Tula Pink scraps. 😉

6. Finish assembling this quilt top:

7. Work on the commission quilt.

8. Get going on the pattern test. 😅

10. Start playing on my projects for the next two hops being hosted by Joan of Moosestash Quilting.

11. Start on the project for the final Hop of the year (my all time favourite hop) which is being hosted by Carol from Just Let Me Uilt.

12. Get caught up with Gail from Quilting Gail’s Mystery QAL. 🤩

13. Do not let Samantha or any of her squirrel buddies side track me🐿🐿🐿🐿.

Stitchin’ Time

Kate from Life in Pieces hosts a weekly linky party to help us keep to our goals of stitching every day.

I’m trying for at least 30 minutes a day this year and 1 hour at the end of the week to tidy up and deal with my scraps. I wasn’t really off to a good start, but it is getting better as things settle down in my real life time and commitments lessen. 🤔

  • January 21/31
  • February 27/29
  • March 27/31
  • April 20/30
  • May 26/31
  • June 22/30
  • July 31/31
  • August 24/31
  • September 30/30
  • October 13/19
  • this week 7/7
  • Previous Total 233/279
  • Total: 241/293
  • Percentage = 82.25 %

At this rate, I might get back up to 85 or even 90% by the end of the year! I hope you all get to set and keep your goals for your Stitching Time and join Kate. 😁

Stash Report

I like to link with Donna @ QuiltPaintCreate to keep track of fabric in and out of my stash. If I can plan a trip to the studio I expect my stash to be reduced terrifically when I start making backings for all of the quilt tops I’ve got to do. 😁

  • Fabric Used: 14 yards
  • Fabric Purchased this week: 0 yards
  • Fabric Previous Balance: 20 yards
  • Fabric Purchased this year: 0 yards
  • Balance in stash to use this year: 6 yards

* my goal is to lessen my stash by 100 yards this year. I haven’t managed to actually figure out how much fabric I really have in my stash, but I have reduced my stash these past few years and only purchase fabric if I need it for a particular project. If I do purchase fabric I add it to my Balance in stash to use this year in order to continue reducing my stash. 😉

* any fabric used from the scrap bins, was gifted or a prize; doesn’t count as stash!

Design Wall Mondays

Judy, at Small Quilts and Doll Quilts, hosts a linky party for “Design Wall Mondays” every week.

I’m including some photos of my current WIPs;

PHD in 2024

This year you can join the fun and challenge at Ms P Designs USA 😉

I’m getting closer to my PHD! 😉

Thank you for stopping by and reading my post. Your comments make my day and I do reply to each one. 😉 Carol

I have been fondling fabric and creating things with fabric and fiber for as long as I can remember. My children had homemade clothes, blankets, canning and quilts most of their lives. Now I create goodies to share! Hope you enjoy viewing them as much as I enjoy making them! When I am not creating with fiber or fabric I keep busy with Dear Heart, kids, grandkids, great grandkids.

  1. Wow, you had a really busy week, and was still able to claim a couple of finishes! Happy belated birthday! I’ll be so glad when our elections are over too. I’m so tired of seeing political ads! Only a few more days now, thankfully. Thanks for sharing with us at Monday Musings!

    1. Thank you Brenda. It was crazy busy but a good birthday and I did have some fabric fun. My election is still going through recounts (I’ve never seen it like this before) and DH and I follow your elections since we have family in America. I’ll be glad when these two are over, then it’ll likely be time for them to call a Federal Election. Luckily our election campaigns here in Canada only last from the time the writ is dropped (supposedly). Fingers crossed for America. 🤗
