Sunday Summary #179

My Last To-Do Goals:

It’s been another interesting week here in my corner of the world. I was hired to be a Supervisor at a Polling Station for our Provincial Elections. then on Wednesday I got a call from D and needed to make the trip to the Okanagan to help her out. It was raining when I left home in the late afternoon noon. I drove by the fires that were still burning. It’s not as bad as it was. The cooler weather is helping.

I drove on to the ferry and had the worst ride of my life! It was almost making me seasick it was so choppy and rough! 🤢

I couldn’t even get out of the car to take a photo!

I had planned on getting a bite to eat when I got to Lumby at the Tim Hortons, but Mother Nature had other plans. The rain was torrential going over the Monashees and I had to slow down to 20 or 30 KPH. Then trees started falling everywhere and the road became a real obstacle course. It was dark and those trees blocked the road in too many places to count! I had pulled in behind a very nice truck driver. When the road was blocked, he jumped out of his pick up truck and used his chain saw to cut the trees and clear a path. Doesn’t everyone carry a chain saw in your part of the world like they do here when it’s time to get firewood in for the winter? 😉

I was too late to get dinner in Lumby but I did manage to grab some after I made a stop to meet someone in Kelowna and do a pick up;

Then I got to D’s and didn’t have a chance to show off my new treasure since D had already gone to bed!

Since then I’ve taken her to a couple of appointments and tests. I haven’t had time with my Featherweight but I did get to spend some time with my long arm, resulting in not one, but two finished quilts before Saturday night! One is off my my PHD List and one is a DREaMI project! I’ll post more when these are completed 😉

1. Keep working on my EPP, embroidery and embroidery sampler as time and my eyesight allow. No progress. 😢

2. Try to finish binding the eight five quilts. I was busy this past week so I didn’t manage to finish any bindings 😢

3. Finish the memory quilts for my son and granddaughters from a collection of T-shirts from my son, DIL and granddaughters and our Clarke’s clothing. No progress on these quilts this week 😢

4. Keep playing with the orphan blocks and goodies from Denise, with some additions from my stash, to use up more bits and pieces until those project boxes are empty. Only a bit of progress! 😁

5. Finish making the blocks from my crumb blocks before Monique hands me another bag of Tula Pink scraps. Not much progress on this other than deciding on the background and starting to cut the sashing and needed background squares and strips. 😢

6. Finish designing my project for the next blog hop. I’ve got a plan and managed to pull fabrics 😉

7. Start assembling this quilt top. No progress on this one this week 😢

8. Start on the commission quilt.Fabrics are pulled and I’ve started cutting 🤣

9. Keep playing with my jelly roll quilt. I’ve made some progress! 🤣

10. Get organized to do the pattern test. I’m set to go! 😉

11. Do not let Samantha or any of her squirrel buddies side track me🐿🐿🐿🐿.

Sam got me again! I’m at the studio, spending time with D. I needed something to work on between long arming quilts and I forgot to bring quilts that need binding or any of my myriad WIPs. That meant I had to start another squirrel (DREaMI) project which will work for the next blog hop! 😅

I can share a photo of the log cabin quilt blocks I started to keep at the studio;

This Week’s goals:

This week I have meetings, DH has his consultation for his cataract surgery and I’m starting training for this year’s Provincial Election. I’m not sure how much time I’ll have for quilting so it’s a good thing I had so much progress last week! 😉

Now it’s time for my new To Do Tuesday List:

1. Keep working on my EPP, embroidery and embroidery sampler as time and my eyesight allow.

2. Try to finish binding the eight now seven quilts. 🤔

3. Finish the memory quilts for my son, granddaughters and Clarke’s family from a collection of T-shirts from my son, DIL and granddaughters and our Clarke’s clothing.

4. Keep playing with the orphan blocks and goodies from Denise, with some additions from my stash, to use up more bits and pieces until those project boxes are empty.

5. Finish making the blocks from my crumb blocks before Monique hands me another bag of Tula Pink scraps. 😉

6. Finish my project for the next blog hop.

Stitchin’ Time

Kate from Life in Pieces hosts a weekly linky party to help us keep to our goals of stitching every day.

I’m trying for at least 30 minutes a day this year and 1 hour at the end of the week to tidy up and deal with my scraps. I wasn’t really off to a good start, but it is getting better as things settle down in my real life time and commitments lessen. 🤔

  • January 21/31
  • February 27/29
  • March 27/31
  • April 20/30
  • May 26/31
  • June 22/30
  • July 31/31
  • August 24/31
  • September 28/28
  • this week 7/7
  • Previous Total 219/265
  • Total: 226/272
  • Percentage = 83.09 %

At this rate, I might get back up to 85 or even 90% by the end of the year! I hope you all get to set and keep your goals for your Stitching Time and join Kate. 😁

Stash Report

I like to link with Donna @ QuiltPaintCreate to keep track of fabric in and out of my stash. If I can plan a trip to the studio I expect my stash to be reduced terrifically when I start making backings for all of the quilt tops I’ve got to do. 😁

  • Fabric Used: 14 yards
  • Fabric Purchased this week: 0 yards
  • Fabric Previous Balance: 34 yards
  • Fabric Purchased this year: 0 yards
  • Balance in stash to use this year: 20 yards

* my goal is to lessen my stash by 100 yards this year. I haven’t managed to actually figure out how much fabric I really have in my stash, but I have reduced my stash these past few years and only purchase fabric if I need it for a particular project. If I do purchase fabric I add it to my Balance in stash to use this year in order to continue reducing my stash. 😉

* any fabric used from the scrap bins, was gifted or a prize; doesn’t count as stash!

Design Wall Mondays

Judy, at Small Quilts and Doll Quilts, hosts a linky party for “Design Wall Mondays” every week.

I’m including some photos of my current WIPs;

I have been fondling fabric and creating things with fabric and fiber for as long as I can remember. My children had homemade clothes, blankets, canning and quilts most of their lives. Now I create goodies to share! Hope you enjoy viewing them as much as I enjoy making them! When I am not creating with fiber or fabric I keep busy with Dear Heart, kids, grandkids, great grandkids.
