Hello and welcome to this week’s Sunday Summary. I have plenty of news to share so do grab a cuppa or cool drink and relax while I catch you upon my news.

Now I’ll move on to some better news. D and I developed a schedule while I was there. I’d get up early and spend time with my favourite machines (my Janome 9500QCP and my Avante long arm) until D got up. We’d have breakfast and then work on the reno’s and repairs, taking a break for lunch or doing errands. I even had to take a bathroom door apart (including the frame) to remove a broken striker plate when D closed the bathroom door. Then we’d have dinner and watch a movie. Once D went to bed to read I’d go back to playing with fabric and my machines.
After a fun, busy time at D’s (I appreciate being able to spend time with my friend especially as the 2 year anniversary of the death of our best friend, her husband Kenny’s passing is approaching. I travelled home late Wednesday night so I was able to get in to town to pick up DH’s meds on Thursday.
My Last To-Do Goals:
1. Keep working on my EPP, embroidery and embroidery sampler as time and my eyesight allow. No progress. 😢
2. Try to finish binding the four now five now eight quilts. I was busy this past few days. 😢
3. Finish the memory quilts for my son and granddaughters from a collection of T-shirts from my son, DIL and granddaughters and our Clarke’s clothing. Not only did I get this first one quilted, it’s squared up and ready for binding! 😃

4. Keep playing with the orphan blocks and goodies from Denise, with some additions from my stash, to use up more bits and pieces until those project boxes are empty. I did get a bit more done on these purple/yellow log cabin blocks! 😁

5. Finish making the blocks from my crumb blocks before Monique hands me another bag of Tula Pink scraps. No progress on this project this week. 😢
6. Start pulling and cutting fabric for my project for another fun blog hop. It’s finished and in the needs binding pile! I’m looking forward to sharing this project! 😃

7. Do not let Samantha or any of her squirrel buddies side track me🐿🐿🐿🐿. Samantha got me again, and I can share a peek at the quilt. It’s a wedding gift for DH’s niece who’s is getting married on September 21, 2024 and I finally found out last week what her colour preference is. It’s now in the needs binding pile! 😁

Then on Friday I got a call from a friend and had to travel to Nakusp to do a pickup:

That little job necessitated in my doing another job; rearranging my sewing space and making room for the unplanned for additions to my stash:

So all in all it was another fantastic week. D’s swelling is going down (she might never eat watermelon or strawberries for a long time). I made 3 quilts from start to finish (good thing I have an Accuquilt cutter and dies to make the cutting so quick and accurate). I picked up and sorted a carload of fabric and the fabric I can’t use will go to my Guild for their annual fundraiser. I rearranged my sewing space and cutting table so it’s ready for winter. DH had a good week and so did I! 😁
This Week’s goals:
Now it’s time for my new To Do Tuesday List:

1. Keep working on my EPP, embroidery and embroidery sampler as time and my eyesight allow.
2. Try to finish binding the four now eight quilts. 😉
3. Finish the memory quilts for my son, granddaughters and Clarke’s family from a collection of T-shirts from my son, DIL and granddaughters and our Clarke’s clothing.

4. Keep playing with the orphan blocks and goodies from Denise, with some additions from my stash, to use up more bits and pieces until those project boxes are empty.

5. Finish making the blocks from my crumb blocks before Monique hands me another bag of Tula Pink scraps. 😉
6. Put the binding on my quilt and start writing my post for the blog hop.

7. Do not let Samantha or any of her squirrel buddies side track me🐿🐿🐿🐿. I absolutely have to ignore Sam’s enticements this week.
Stitchin’ Time

Kate from Life in Pieces hosts a weekly linky party to help us keep to our goals of stitching every day.
I’m trying for at least 30 minutes a day this year and 1 hour at the end of the week to tidy up and deal with my scraps. I wasn’t really off to a good start, but it is getting better as things settle down in my real life time and commitments lessen. 🤔

Stash Report

I like to link with Donna @ QuiltPaintCreate to keep track of fabric in and out of my stash. If I can plan a trip to the studio I expect my stash to be reduced terrifically when I start making backings for all of the quilt tops I’ve got to do. 😁
- Fabric Used: 19 yards
- Fabric Purchased this week: 0 yards
- Fabric Previous Balance: 63 yards
- Fabric Purchased this year: 0 yards
- Balance in stash to use this year: 36 yards
* my goal is to lessen my stash by 100 yards this year. I haven’t managed to actually figure out how much fabric I really have in my stash, but I have reduced my stash these past few years and only purchase fabric if I need it for a particular project. If I do purchase fabric I add it to my Balance in stash to use this year in order to continue reducing my stash. 😉
* any fabric used from the scrap bins, was gifted or a prize; doesn’t count as stash!

Judy, at Small Quilts and Doll Quilts, hosts a linky party for “Design Wall Mondays” every week.

Yay for having a good week, you two! Sure sad to see the damage from the fires, although it’s still a pretty view. Have fun sewing with all that new fabric. Glad D is okay and that you could spend time with her.

Hi Wendy. The view is still pretty from the rest stop in spite of the plumes of smoke. It was good to spend time with D and get some things done. Now it’s time to have fun with fabric 😉

Sounds like you had a very productive week! Your stitching time numbers for this year look really good considering how much other stuff has been going on in your life. Good luck with this week’s to do list.
