Sunday Summary #174

It was another busy week for me; meeting with the people who are organizing the Resiliency Center to debrief, plan new strategies, re-organize the Center and the setup, and write our lists of needed equipment and services for the next emergency that affects our community. Add to that DH had several doctor’s appointments and it was time for our next vaccines!

In the meantime our temperatures are cooler and we’ve even had a bit of rain which means our firefighters are getting the wildfires more under control and campers can now have campfires again! 😅

In a few weeks we will be heading to America to attend the wedding of DH’s niece. I’m still waiting to hear what colors the bride would like me to use for her quilt. It will be a huge gathering of family and friends, so we need to be cautious with DH’s health and just be able to relax and enjoy the time to visit. DH says this is his last bit of travelling. 🤔

My Last To-Do Goals:

1. Keep working on my EPP, embroidery and embroidery sampler as time and my eyesight allow. No progress. 😢

2. Try to finish binding the four now five quilts. I’m still down to only 3” left on the first of these quilts.🤗

3. Finish the memory quilts for my son and granddaughters from a collection of T-shirts from my son, DIL and granddaughters and our Clarke’s clothing. I’m ready to get these on the frame on my next trip to the studio.😃

One down; 3 or 4 to go! 🤣

4. Keep playing with the orphan blocks and goodies from Denise, with some additions from my stash, to use up more bits and pieces until those project boxes are empty. I have managed to start another project from the bins and the goodie box. 😁

5. Keep making crumb blocks until I can start using them for my next quilt. Crumb blocks are finished and trimmed to size. I’ve started building the blocks from the pieces! 😃

6. Start planning my project for another blog hop. I’m ready to pull fabrics now that I have a plan! 😃

7. Do not let Samantha or any of her squirrel buddies side track me🐿🐿🐿🐿. 😁 Samantha tried her best but I managed to stick to my lists this week.😁

Stitchin’ Time

Kate from Life in Pieces hosts a weekly linky party to help us keep to our goals of stitching every day.

I’m trying for at least 30 minutes a day this year and 1 hour at the end of the week to tidy up and deal with my scraps. I wasn’t really off to a good start, but it is getting better as things settle down in my real life time and commitments lessen. 🤔

  • January 21/31
  • February 27/29
  • March 27/31
  • April 20/30
  • May 26/31
  • June 22/30
  • July 31/31
  • August 17/24
  • this week 7/7
  • Previous Total 184/219
  • Total: 191/226
  • Percentage = 84.51 %

I hope you all get to set and keep your goals for your Stitching Time and join Kate. 😁

Stash Report

I like to link with Donna @ QuiltPaintCreate to keep track of fabric in and out of my stash. If I can plan a trip to the studio I expect my stash to be reduced terrifically when I start making backings for all of the quilt tops I’ve got to do. 😁

  • Fabric Used: 0 yards
  • Fabric Purchased this week: 0 yards
  • Fabric Previous Balance: 63 yards
  • Fabric Purchased this year: 0 yards
  • Balance in stash to use this year: 63 yards

* my goal is to lessen my stash by 100 yards this year. I haven’t managed to actually figure out how much fabric I really have in my stash, but I have reduced my stash these past few years and only purchase fabric if I need it for a particular project. If I do purchase fabric I add it to my Balance in stash to use this year in order to continue reducing my stash. 😉

* any fabric used from the scrap bins, was gifted or a prize; doesn’t count as stash!

Design Wall Mondays

Judy, at Small Quilts and Doll Quilts, hosts a linky party for “Design Wall Mondays” every week.

I’m including some photos of my current WIPs;

This year you can join the fun and challenge at Ms P Designs USA 😉

One of these days I’m going to have to do an inventory and catch up my list! 🤔

Thank you for stopping by and reading my post. Your comments make my day and I do reply to each one. 😉 Carol

I have been fondling fabric and creating things with fabric and fiber for as long as I can remember. My children had homemade clothes, blankets, canning and quilts most of their lives. Now I create goodies to share! Hope you enjoy viewing them as much as I enjoy making them! When I am not creating with fiber or fabric I keep busy with Dear Heart, kids, grandkids, great grandkids.

  1. Wow, Carol — you definitely do have a lot going on and those doctor appointments, while important, do suck up a lot of time just in the driving to and from and the waiting to see the doctors once you get there. Your big wedding trip sounds so exciting. To what part of the United States will you be traveling?

    1. Hi Rebecca. Some weeks are busier than others so it’s good to have stitching time to keep me sane! The wedding will be in Idaho so it’s not too hard a trip for DH. I’m looking forward to the trip and I do enjoy driving.

  2. Seems like there is progress. I know the time it takes to get to an appointment…due to the ferry you add an hour to everything and more sometimes if the appointment doesn’t coordinate with schedules! Hope you continue to make progress and Samantha behaves!

    1. Hi Kathleen. I’m luckier than you. Town trips are only one to one and a half hour trips each way, but I miss my trips to the studio (5 hours) and a ferry ride. It’s been a crazy week so far but I’ve stitched every day and Samantha only got to come out and play today when I got word of the bride’s color preferences 😀

      1. Ferries are interesting! I was telling some one the challenge of the guessing game as to when something will be delivered.. Our postal service is easy (comes directly to us) but UPS and Fed Ex. and other shippers are more mysterious as they get delivered to the ferry. If the arrive before the “shipping boat”, they get put on (usually), if not they go the next day. Our grocer delivers but not on the weekends once between Oct and May! So varied.

I mostly am fine with it, but don’t always get the best use of my time.

Tell Samantha to be patient…soon she can play.

  3. You had a good week on the stitching time front. Hopefully that paid off in some good progress on your projects. Enjoy your trip to the US, hopefully every one stays well.

    1. Thank you Kate. Having your stitching Time to track keeps me motivated every week and my 15 minutes often runs in to hours. I’m making progress on some of these projects but seem to be starting more than I’m finishing 🤔
