Sunday Summary #161

It was another weird and wonderful couple of weeks here in my part of the world:

As you can see the snow is melting fast helped by several rainfalls. I’ll happily take the moisture in any form. 😉

I had too many meetings for the Golf Club and had to empty the kitchen for the remodel/renovations. The renovations are well underway and should be completed this week.

Last week I was able to help a friend that was diagnosed with cancer and had completed his round of radiation treatments, by taking him to Kelowna for his PET Scan. This week we are heading back to Kelowna on Wednesday since his appointment to get results is first thing in the morning. It means I get to spend a night at the studio with D and check on her. Then after the appointment Thursday morning we get to do some errands and shopping before we head home.

My Saturday will be spent working a fundraiser for the Golf Club; food, family activities and then an amazing band to have everyone dance the night away. 😉

With any kind of luck our Board will finalise employment of a Lease Operator or Manager for the clubhouse and I can get back to my real life of sewing, creating, enjoying reading blog posts and emails, and spending more time with my DH! 🤞🏻

My Last To-Do Goals:

With all that is going on in our lives I’ve had to make some choices to cut back on my goals. Here’s a modified list and I’m giving myself to not put pressure on myself and if I get things done or progressing I will be content.

1. Keep working on my EPP, embroidery and embroidery sampler as time allows. No progress 😢

2. Get caught up with the Rainbow Neighbourhood QAL hosted by Sandra Walker from MMM Quilts No Progress😢

3. Keep working on some weaving projects for prizes for an upcoming Golf Tournament. It’s the perfect way to use up all of the wool I have collected when I was knitting socks, shawls and sweaters for the grands and great grands. My hands just can’t handle the needles anymore. Some progress 😁

4. Try to finish my pattern test.No progress 😢

5. Start on a memory quilt (which is my latest squirrel project since Sam got me again!) with some of Clarke’s clothing for her family: clothing is pressed and I’ve started taking them apart. 😁

6. Work on two more memory quilts (another squirrel project) for my granddaughters from a collection of T-shirts from my son, DIL and granddaughters. Some progress. Taking T-shirts apart, getting them trimmed and applying stabilizer. 😁

7. Do not let Samantha or any of her squirrel buddies side track me🐿🐿🐿🐿 Samantha and her buddies got me when I started cleaning and sorting the storage room. I found more orphan blocks and have plans on how to use them up. 😳

This Week’s goals:

1. Keep working on my EPP, embroidery and embroidery sampler as time allows.

2. Get caught up with the Rainbow Neighbourhood QAL hosted by Sandra Walker from MMM Quilts.

3. Keep working on some weaving projects for prizes for an upcoming Golf Tournament. It’s the perfect way to use up all of the wool I have collected when I was knitting socks, shawls and sweaters for the grands and great grands. My hands just can’t handle the needles anymore. 😉

4. Try to finish my pattern test.

5. Work on a memory quilt with some of Clarke’s clothing for her family:

6. Work on two more memory quilts for my granddaughters from a collection of T-shirts from my son, DIL and granddaughters.

7. Keep playing with the orphan blocks and goodies from Denise to use up more bits and pieces.

8. Do not let Samantha or any of her squirrel buddies side track me🐿🐿🐿🐿

Stitchin’ Time

Kate from Life in Pieces hosts a weekly linky party to help us keep to our goals of stitching every day.

I’m trying for at least 30 minutes a day this year and 1 hour at the end of the week to tidy up and deal with my scraps. I’m not really off to a good start, but it should get better as things settle down in my real life time and commitments lessen. 🤔

  • January 21/31
  • February 27/29
  • March 15/16
  • this week 6/7
  • Previous Total 43/365
  • Total: 63/76
  • Percentage = 82.89 %

I hope you all get to set and keep your goals for your Stitching Time and join Kate. 😁

Stash Report

I like to link with Donna @ QuiltPaintCreate to keep track of fabric in and out of my stash.

  • Fabric Used: 0 yards
  • Fabric Purchased this week: 0 yards
  • Fabric Previous Balance: 85 yards
  • Fabric Purchased this year: 0 yards
  • Balance in stash to use this year: 85 yards

* my goal is to lessen my stash by 100 yards this year. I haven’t managed to actually figure out how much fabric I really have in my stash, but I have reduced my stash these past few years and really only purchase fabric if I need it for a particular project. If I do purchase fabric I add it to my Balance in stash to use this year in order to continue reducing my stash. 😉

* any fabric used from the scrap bins, was gifted or a prize; doesn’t count as stash!

I have been fondling fabric and creating things with fabric and fiber for as long as I can remember. My children had homemade clothes, blankets, canning and quilts most of their lives. Now I create goodies to share! Hope you enjoy viewing them as much as I enjoy making them! When I am not creating with fiber or fabric I keep busy with Dear Heart, kids, grandkids, great grandkids.

    1. Hi Kate. Contract is approved! Now I get to train the new guy on all of the intricacies, quirks and issues of our clubhouse while we are finishing the Reno’s! The counters are being custom built to my specs as I’m writing this and the new freezer will be delivered this afternoon! Soon my life will be simplified. 😃
