First of all I’d like to thank the amazing Joan from Moosestash Quilting for hosting this month’s challenge with such a fun theme! I’d like to thank all of the participants for the wonderful eye candy and inspiring posts.
My first thought, being Canadian was to find a piece of moose themed fabric I just know is hiding in my stash. I looked and couldn’t find it of course. I just know next time I’m looking for something I’ll find it! 🤭
Just to let you know my stash isn’t that large and it’s (mostly) contained in just one cupboard!

Then I had my plans completely change when I was talking with one of my Guild quilters. She was bouncing off the wall with excitement. She had received a phone call from her granddaughter and called her Baba to let her know she was going to be a great grandmother in three weeks! Can you imagine keeping a baby secret for that long? Well what are quilters to do, but get busy sewing for the new baby. I had an idea and quickly got out some fabrics and started to play to see if my idea would work.

I started by rough edge appliquéing some hearts on to background squares and then sandwiched the 12” blocks. Then I made some half rectangle blocks and sandwiched them. At my Guild last week I was able to finish the quilt!

The finished quilt (46” x 58 1/2”) was sent home with my friend, along with some receiving blankets and burp cloths so she could wash it all and pack it up since she was leaving the next day to go visit her granddaughter with all of the goodies several of our Guild members had made for a very welcome baby girl. 💕
Now I’ll share the list of other bloggers who are sharing their projects today:

Fabulous quilt for an unexpected baby! Funny how things go missing in our studios, even with a small stash.

New babies always send us quilters into a sewing frenzy, but three weeks notice definitely puts the pedal to the metal. Of course you all came through. I love the quilt you made for the baby…so sweet! Thanks for showing the love today, Carol.

Hi Carol! Ooh, this is such a fun project. I had made a rag quilt a few years ago (2017). It isn’t difficult but all that cutting of the seams takes a commitment! I hope your friend will share a picture of the your quilt with the baby at some point. Nice job and getting it together so quickly! {{Hugs}} ~smile~ Roseanne

Thank you Danice. My cupboard is only 5’ tall and the bottom shelf is my backing fabrics so it’s not that large a stash. My quilting buddy has 5 of these cupboards (hers are 6’ tall) for her stash 🫢
