To-Do Tuesday

It’s time for another weekly linky party and I even get to write a post this week! 😉

I did manage to get some quilted curtains finished for my day to share on this month’s Sew It- Show It Challenge. She has received the package and has them hung in her little craft room/converted porch. It gets quite cool in the winter so we are hoping it will keep her warmer while she does her crafting this winter. 😁

A few months ago, just before my real life got crazy, I had signed up to do a pattern test for The Quilt Pattern Magazine. It is being published in the October edition of the magazine. The Pattern is called Four By Four, is designed by Cheryl Quigley and finishes at 51 1/2” x 59 1/2”. I really enjoyed this pattern. It went together perfectly and I had no issues following the pattern. Once I finished the flimsy I made a backing for it and got it sandwiched it at the Guild during a monthly quilting day. I then did straight line quilting in the ditch to just let the quilt pattern shine. It was fortunate that I had made it because it was the perfect Thank You Gift for dear friend’s that lent us their spare car when the deer decided to re-arrange the front end of our car. (Our car is finally in being repaired and I should have it back for my birthday).

On another note, my life is slowly getting back to normal. Our clubhouse hours have been cut back with the arrival of fall here in the Kootenays. The weather has been cooler and we have even had snow on some of the higher peaks around here. I am closing the restaurant on October 9th after a final fundraiser on Oct.7. I will put it to bed after my last catering event on Oct. 14. So yes, October 15 is my birthday and I will celebrate by turning my alarm clock off and not doing any cleaning/packing away until the afternoon.

It’s been a rough year for DH since the doctor has been changing his meds and he has lost a horrendous amount of weight. He is down to 155 from 210 in February. The doctors say it is all muscle mass and we can’t do anything for him but keep him happy and moving. He is still playing golf 99% of the days.

Thank you for stopping by to read my posts. Hope you all have a wonderful week. 😉

I have been fondling fabric and creating things with fabric and fiber for as long as I can remember. My children had homemade clothes, blankets, canning and quilts most of their lives. Now I create goodies to share! Hope you enjoy viewing them as much as I enjoy making them! When I am not creating with fiber or fabric I keep busy with Dear Heart, kids, grandkids, great grandkids.

    1. Thank you Cheree. He plays almost every day and has been know to do so when he has to wear gloves and a toque so he still has plenty of time this year. As for me I had time today to clean our apartment and was even thrilled to scrub the toilet 😉

      1. I also will bundle up on warm winter days but I really struggle with keeping my hands warm with just winter golf gloves (I don’t like playing with gloves on both hands tho). If there is no wind, we’ll play down to about 40 degrees. Most of the time we can find one day per week it reaches those temps but certainly not all the time.

      2. I can only hope you get the warmer weather for several months until spring arrives. DH will golf until the snow covers the course. Then I get to hear the kids laughter when they are tobogganing down the hills 😉

  1. sorry your husband has been loosing too much weight – and here I just want to loose 10 and can’t seem to do it. Snow on the peaks of mountains in the distance sound so pretty

  2. I’m glad some of your life seems to be back to normal. Love the colors in Four by Four. Hope the quilted curtains work to keep the chill off in your daughter’s craft space. I sometimes have to run a small space heater in my basement space. Good to hear that your hubby is still golfing, even though much thinner. I always say, “ a body in motion, stays in motion. a body at rest, stays at rest.”

  3. Your pattern test quilt turned out beautifully, Carol! Definitely the perfect thank you gift for good friends. Glad things are coming together for the car and the golf course is slowing down. My hubby would play golf every day if he could, too, and I am taking off right now to play with my girls’ group! Have a great week!

  4. Hi Carol! I know you have had a lot on your plate. Nothing more than you can bear, and He knows how much that is. But sometimes . . . you can’t help but wonder if He is going to lighten your load at some point. Please?! Yay for DH golfing 99% of the time. I know that is a big motivator for him and it keeps him going. How you found time to do a pattern test is beyond me, but you are one good egg. It’s gorgeous! I’m certain they love that you can test for them and give any feedback. {{Hugs}} a whole bunch, my friend. ~smile~ Roseanne
