Sunday Summary #143

Happy Memorial Day to my American friends and family. 🇺🇸 💥

Another fun filled week with lots of sewing time, a couple of appointments and a fundraising tournament at our golf course! I monitored one of the two holes that had bonus prizes of $10,000.00 for a hole in one. We had beautiful weather, raised some money and the rain/lightning held off until after everyone had been fed and received their prizes. 😅

I had a lot of fun in my sewing corner this week and managed to get some things finished and off my list. It’s gone from 10 down to a much more manageable 7! 😉

Last goals:

1. Keep working on my EPP, embroidery and leader/ender projects. Some progress!

2. Keep working on my Dresden blocks. No progress 😢

3. Get caught up with the Rainbow Neighbourhood QAL hosted by Sandra Walker from MMM Quilts. I have most of the pieced blocks done for the focus point on the houses.

4. Need to finish this! Binding is attached to the front; just needs to be hand stitched to the back! Let Your Star Shine #2 from a pattern by Sandra Walker from MMM Quilts. I added extra borders to make it larger. Finished size is 44 1/2” square. It is done and I’ll post about it later! 😁

5. Finish squaring up and binding this panel quilt. This was left at the studio so I need to move it to the studio list 😳

6. Quilt the pattern test quilt. It’s not only quilted, the binding is done and it was donated to a fundraiser for a friend here that was just diagnosed with cancer. I’ll write about it when the pattern is published in the fall.

7. Finalize my projects to use for the next Sew-It Show-It Challenge, When Pigs Fly, being hosted by Joan from Moosestash Quilting. Project was decide on and sewing has commenced! 😁

8. Allow myself to keep playing on a couple of projects from the box of treasures I received from Denise. I’ll try to behave and only do them as leader/Enders until I get caught up on my list. 😉 After getting a second box of goodies from Denise I just couldn’t resist the temptation and have been playing. 😉

9. Start thinking up a project for the July Sew It – Show It Challenge, Picnic Party, hosted by Carol from Just Let Me Quilt. I have a plan; just need to start playing with design and fabric pulls! 😁

10. Do not let Samantha or any of her squirrel buddies side track me. 🐿🐿🐿🐿 Samantha (aka Denise) did sidetrack me a wee bit this week. See #8 for some hints! 😉

This week’s goals:

1. Keep working on my EPP, embroidery and leader/ender projects.

2. Keep working on my Dresden blocks.

3. Get caught up with the Rainbow Neighbourhood QAL hosted by Sandra Walker from MMM Quilts.

4. Work on my project for the next Sew-It Show-It Challenge, When Pigs Fly, being hosted by Joan from Moosestash Quilting.

5. Allow myself to keep playing on a couple of projects from the boxes of treasures I received from Denise. I’ll try to behave and only do them as leader/Enders until I get caught up on my list. 😉

6. Finish my design for my project for the July Sew It – Show It Challenge, Picnic Party, hosted by Carol from Just Let Me Quilt.

7. Do not let Samantha or any of her squirrel buddies side track me. 🐿🐿🐿🐿

Studio To – Do List

1. When I get back to the studio make quilting my Roll of the Dice quilt the priority and get the binding put on.

2. Finish my second Heading North quilt, designed by Sandra of MMM Quilts which I left at the studio. 😳

3. Work on the last binding that needs to be hand stitched when I get back to the studio.

4. Finish my DWR which is on the frame.

5. Finish squaring up and binding this panel quilt.

Stitchin’ Time

Kate from Life in Pieces hosts a weekly linky party to help us keep to our goals of stitching every day.

I’m trying for at least 30 minutes a day this year, and have my week set as Saturday as my week end.

  • January 31/31
  • February 28/28
  • March 31/31
  • April 23/30
  • May 24/27
  • this week 6/7
  • Previous Total 131/140
  • Total: 137/147
  • Percentage = 93.2 %

Stash Report

I like to link with Donna @ QuiltPaintCreate to keep track of fabric in and out of my stash.

  • Fabric Used: 0 yards
  • Fabric Purchased this week: 0 yards
  • Fabric Previous Balance: 51yards
  • Fabric Purchased this year: 3 yards
  • Balance in stash to use this year: 51 yards

* my goal is to lessen my stash by 100 yards this year. I haven’t managed to actually figure out how much fabric I really have in my stash, but I have reduced my stash these past few years and really only purchase fabric if I need it for a particular project. If I do purchase fabric I add it to my Balance in stash to use this year in order to continue reducing my stash. 😉

* any fabric used from the scrap bins, was gifted or a prize; doesn’t count as stash!

PHD in 2023

Quilting Gail is hosting her PHD in 2023 Challenge again this year. 😉

Thank you for stopping by and reading my post. Your comments make my day and I do reply to each one. 😉 Carol

I have been fondling fabric and creating things with fabric and fiber for as long as I can remember. My children had homemade clothes, blankets, canning and quilts most of their lives. Now I create goodies to share! Hope you enjoy viewing them as much as I enjoy making them! When I am not creating with fiber or fabric I keep busy with Dear Heart, kids, grandkids, great grandkids.

    1. Hi Linda. The tourney was so much fun and the rain/thunder/lightning held off until everyone was fed! It was perfect! It was pretty devastating news. Hope you are doing well and having some fun 🤗

  2. Those golf tournaments were always fun events – did anyone hole out and win the prize (I assume not, or you would’ve said). I’m sorry to hear that another friend has cancer – what a lovely donation quilt. I’m sure that means alot.

    1. Hi Wendy. One of our members had holed out on both of the holes in previous games so I kept my fingers crossed, but no such luck. It’s been a week with two friends with the same diagnosis. Thank you. The fundraiser is next weekend so I’m hoping it helps. 🤗

  3. Your golf course looks very scenic, Carol! I’m off to play golf with my Tuesday morning group in a little while! Sounds like you got a lot done last week, too. That patchwork quilt of all squares is wonderful – looks so scrappy and fun. My favorite kind of quilt!

  4. Your stitching metrics are all looking good and you’ve done well at finishing all your new projects this year. Hopefully this week was another good one on the stitching front.
